Do you believe it? If so, where do you think they came from? If not, what are the pics and sightings are?

Personally, I think there are big cats in the wilderness. I think theyve either escaped from zoos and such or people have had them illegally and let them free.

Where my mum lives there is a puma that has been getting the sheep they have identified it but haven't caught it yet they have been after it about 8 years! Anyway my mum was walking the dog down a disused railway embankment and it crossed from one side to the other about 50 metres infront of her she said it was amazing but very scary she also said it was huge and very black.

apparently black pumas dont exsist? i thought they were panthers.

I will ask mum when i see her next, off to see if i can find the newspaper article on it to be honest i haven't a cue what a puma or panther looks like  well just a giant cat i suppose.

As if I don't have enough to be scared of with the alien sightings!!

panther is the family of cats including lions and jaguars. Most black panthers are melanised jaguars apparently.
Pumas are cougars and there has been no authenticated black pumas EVER.

Yep your right it was a panther just googled and found some interesting site called pantherweb2 where it tells you about big cat sightings in your area.

This is what they say about scotland: Scotland has got various sighting hot spots from Aberdeen to the borders, the most publicised area being Falkirk between Glasgow and Edinburgh. And up in the highlands around Inverness and even Loch Ness!!. Also in Dumfies and Galloway areas.

Just to add this is the offical site to report any sightings to https://www.britishbigcats.org/sightings.php

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I live right on a marsh where there is tonnes of open wilderness, fields etc. I always worry aliens will land there but now they have big cats to contend with? There probably are though, somewhere. As long as there are no bears :/

I just googled black puma.... i would of ran very fast in the other direction!
IDK i think there must be something beacause of all the sighting

its ok, the bears will be hibernating soon

There's a black panther been spotted around Derbyshire quite alot in the recent years. I've never seen it and not sure what I believe tbh.

Theres meant to be some kind of puma/lynx things in the new forest but I still walk out there alot of my own with the dog and it wouldnt put me off lol. I dont know but I believe in things much more "out there" so I suppose I cant rule this out xx

Ooooerr I never knew these lol I walk in a few of these places with my dog by myself ALOT lol xx

I live near bodmin moor. Don't know if any of you have ever heard of the beast of bodmin moor lol

I know on Dartmoor they have a lynx in the zoo and one night they could hear the zoo lynx calling to another lynx even though there's no other zoo's etc around there.

I like to believe there is big cats but you'd think there would be concrete evidence.

I love conspiracy and mystery things lol

i believe there are big cats in the scottish highlands, i mean there is sooo much land and people struggle to keep track of the sheep / livestock any way so it could be likely, anyway there are lots stranger things in the scottish highlands than big cats haha

There used to be loads of stories about beasties on the moors (family is originaly from yorkshire way) when I was a kid, never seen anything but I deffinatly believe there are some out there.
We have a blooming allagator/crocadile whatever the hell it is I can never remember the differance living in out local lake.
Some idiot had it as a pet about 12 years ago and released and they still cant catch the thing, loads of people have seen it though but they think there might be 2 because of different sightings at the same time.
Im waiting for it to start breeding and loads of tiddly snappers swimming everywhere :)
What does make me laugh though is they still use the lake for water sports.

I reckon there are some here but only because of stupid people illegally importing the bloody things as babies and then realising the dangers they pose and setting them free in woods etc. Poor things, it's not their natural habitats and they're just trying to survive :dohh: I'd royally c**p myself if I ever met one though :? xx

I think it's possible, but pretty unlikely really. General consensus seems to be that there may have been big cats released into the wild in the 70's when the Dangerous Wild Animals licence was introduced, making keeping big cats less easy or that cats have escpaped from private collections.

Animals that were released in the 70's would be dead now, and if there were enough of them to breed, I think there would be more sightings.

I also don't think there are enough sightings or domestic animals beign taken/killed to really make it likely they are in the wild. I realise that big cats are secretive, but no-one has ever taken a video clip or a photo that has catagorically been proven to be a big cat, without any doubt.

they bred with domestic cats and made hybrid ones apparently
