Bigger Babies Club

Im sure she is fine :hugs: prob fluctuating as its growth spurt time or something, I guess its one of those things to keep an eye if it carries on on but its most likely nothing :flower: I know when Chloe was changing they just said keep an eye on it but they weren't overly fussed :hugs:

Hey can I join :flower:

Jake is in the 91st percentile for weight, he was 8lbs 5ozs at birth. He's now 17lbs 10ozs at 17 weeks. :)

I love cuddling him because he's all squidgy and soft! He's just going into 6-9 months clothes too. x

Rosalina had her first doctor's appointment on Tuesday. She's a half inch longer and now weighs 12 pounds 3 ounces! She must be eating enough, hehe! Plus, she seems to be getting more satisfied with breastmilk. She hasn't had any formula since last night. I breastfed her when she woke at 3:00, 5:30, and again at 9:00 and she's been sleeping great in between. I'm hoping to eventually have her completely on breastmilk, although I have to admit it's a bit scary.. I do enjoy the fact that I can pack a bottle of it when going to town or something, but I suppose I can pump for that too, it's just harder sometimes to pump enough to fill a bottle or two. We'll see how it goes! Also, breastfeeding is definitely easier, since you don't have to prepare the bottle, but I'm not loving it. I find it somewhat stressful and it still hurts when she latches on at times. I am sticking with it as I want her to have the best I can give her, but switching to formula is pretty tempting sometimes!

 Welcome cherryglitter& jake :hugs:

Juless: Glad to hear Rosalina is doing well  Well done perservearing with BF :hugs:

Hi cherryglitter :)
Juless, stick with it, it does get physically easier, and in a week or two hopefully you'll have more confidence to feed her out and about - try baby cinema or a breastfeeding group for practice feeding in public!

Thanks for the replies about centiles ladies... makes me feel better - although now though last 2 days she's eating hardly anything... 2 weeks ago about 25-27oz a day, last week 33-35, yesterday 21  and today so far 16 and I doubt I'll get more than another 3 in to her before bed :dohh: is this normal? I BF DD1 so I never knew just how much she was taking, seeing it all in the bottle is confusing

Mine is now approaching 21lbs, he's gonna be 100 by the end of the year, geeeez

lol, it does slow down (thankfully!)- Emma was 20lbs at 4months but was "only" 28lbs at 12 months and I don't really think she's gained much since then. Once they are mobile and burning more calories, the weight usually plateaus- it's been nice not outgrowing clothes at such a fast rate lately!

wow and i thought owen was big! his weight gain is slowing down. he's on 91st centile still i think though

Hm Daisy is I suspect around 23-24lbs. She's really heavy anyway, the sooner she learns to walk the better! I've pulled a muscle in my shoulder carrying her :(

Yep, C was about 28 at 12 months, then only 31 at 2 years!! and maybe only 33 now at nearly 2 and a half!! still getting taller though, 93cm a month ago

it is hard work isnt it!?! who needs the gym! :haha:

that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!

Im going to sound really stupid now - what does all the percentile things mean?!
I kind of understand, but not fully! Is it like 91 in 100 babies or something?

yeah 91st means that for every 100 babies born, 91 are lighter than that weight say, and only 9 are heavier... but they are statistics taken a number of years ago, and some people say that nowadays babies are generally heavier than they used to be, so it's not actually 91/9 babies... but still following the curve means that your child is progressing at the same rate as other babies that were born at that weight - does that make any sense?!
