BLW - what did your LO eat today?

B - missed
L - houmous on toast (this is ok isn't it?) and half a plum. She actually ate loads of both but usually dismisses toast with butter or jam....
D - will be mixed steamed veg and maybe a bit of scrambled egg followed with yoghurt.

Is it ok to use the whole egg for scrambling or just the yolk?

Think its best to start with just the yolk as thats the least allergenic part of it plus its the part that has all the goodness anyway

houmous is absolutely fine - and very nutritious, apparently - but if it's shop bought just keep an eye on the salt, as some of them are fairly high.

i have always used the whole egg - i think in the uk the advice is that it's ok so long as there isn't a high risk of allergies (family history etc).

today was a strange day, as hayden was at nursery for the morning, so i only had the teatime mess to clean up!!!

b (at nursery) - shreddies, toast

s (at nursery) - crackers with cheese spread

l (at nursery) - cottage pie, angel delight

s - tried him with some grapes, which he usually loves, but he just spat them out. did this yesterday - think maybe the grapes are not to his liking! gave him an ella's kitchen cookie, which he wolfed down, with some milk in a sippy cup (starting to think about weaning off bottles)

t - quiche, bread and butter, tomato, cucumber, pasta salad and a little couscous (regretted that when he started throwing it everywhere!), a pieces of banana topped with a peach yogurt, and some of my orange segments.

pretty sure he ate more than me today!!!

Thank you. Do you happen to know what the max daily salt/sodium intake is for babies? I know it should be zilch but that's not always possible.

She LOVED the houmous. I will try to make some homemade too tho.

She has baby eczema, and her father has adult so perhaps I'll just stick with the yolk for now....

Actually, I just found this incase it is useful for anyone else....

0 to 6 months: less than 1g per day
7 to 12 months: 1 g per day
1 to 3 years: 2g per day
Age 4 to 6: 3g per day
Age 7 to 10: 5g per day
Age 11 to 14: 6g per day

I don't mind if Maria has some things that have salt in (like a bit of ham or some cheese) so long as the other food in the day has no salt so it all balances out.

that's how i usually work, it's mostly fruit and steamed veg here with the odd bit of cheese

B - Banana on toast
L - cheese stix, grapes, orange wedges and slice of ham
D - homemade tuna and salmon fishcakes

do you have the blw cookbook? the houmous recipe in there is easy if you have a food processor, and very yummy

today hayden had:

b - porridge triangles with blueberry fruit spread, a pear

l - cheese sandwich, cherry tomatoes, little bits of cucmber, peppers and grated carrot, ella's kitchen cookie

s - grapes

t - falafel, in a tomato and bean sauce (cheated and gave him an organix mighty meal, as we treated ourselves to a pizza!), pitta bread, a strawberry yogurt.

I do have the cookbook, yes. Perhaps I should try to read it at some point.....
