Mummy love -- just popped on as I don't read much, can't seem to find the time.
The hunger games book well I've been told to read it but it all out in local libraries big waiting list:nope:

My son has been given a big list of books he needs to read, set by English teacher as he needs to improve his story work, Is this a book for him he's going to be 13 in two weeks. He not much of a reader but if this book is that popular it must be worth a go??

Is it worth buying the hunger games books or wait on library

What other books do you recommend for my son? You seem to have large knowledge on books which is perfect as I know you'll be able to help?

Thank you :flower:

I am loving the hunger games books. I cant put it down when i start but with 2 kids its hard to geta lot of reading time. What sort of stories does ur son like. Crime, fixtion etc?

He doesn't have much interest I'm trying this book reading new but was recommended hunger games..

Would you buy books or just go library?

He might actually enjoy the hunger games. And honestly, try the Harry Potter series for him. I've known plenty of people who aren't big readers (of various ages) that loved them. Or go with a classic and try some Hardy Boys mysteries.

If you don't want to spend a ton of money, see if there's any used book stores near by, or see what the thrift stores have. If your son finds something he really likes, he'll want to read it over and over again and owning it will be easier than having to re-check it out time and again.

Working my way through the second Kushiel book, and I found a book at CostCo called A Discovery of Witches that sounded interesting. Realized after the fact that it's the 1st of a trilogy, so if it's any good, I'll have to track down the other 2 books.

Im on the 3rd book of hunger games hopefully gonna finish it today

Recently read

Before I fall by Lauren Oliver. Really love her books and style of writing, can't wait for her new book out next month.

And

The Fault In our Stars by John Green which is possibly the best book I've ever read. Heart breaking, funny and beautiful.

x

I'm back to an old favourite, pride and prejudice. OH bought me a really pretty box set of Jane Austen books so I'm going to reread them all.

as anyone got the other 2 books to the perfect match series?

I was really happily surprised with both the quality of the writing and the depth of scholarship in the Discovery of Wtiches series. There are only 2 of the 3 out yet, I believe, but both had quite a wonderful blend of history in with the story. The author is a university prof (somewhat like Diana Gabaldon of the Outlander series) and her intelligence and breadth of knowledge really show in the subject matter. I did find some of the dialogue between the leads a bit contrived, but overall, a very fun read.

Just found this thread - boy I am missing out! I love reading and the next time I need a new book on my kindle I'll consult you ladies first!

I'm reading the Divergent series - again! I love them, have read them a few times now and it never gets old. I've read the Hunger Games a few times too, but think I prefer Divergent.

I'll be looking for a few good book suggestions soon as I'm facing a long haul overnight flight for our honeymoon in May. OH will sleep, and I can't sleep on the plane so it'll be 13 hours of reading for me! x

I have just finished reading creep and freak. I thought creep was excellent and couldn't put it down! Freak was ok, not as good as creep though. After reading through this thread I have just bought divergent and will be starting it tonight!

That's good to know. Still looking forward to it. Almost halfway through Kushiel's Chosen. lol. It's a wonderful book, I hate how I'm just too darned tired to get a lot of reading in.
