Hi I just took another frer and within 2 minutes there was a white line in the positive mark, couldn't really tell if it had color. I have taken at least 50 frers in the last 5 months and Never had this happen. Anybody else have this happen

Yes I had that happen to me last weekend and I posted all over about it and got rude comments on how I was reading the test wrong. So I called first response and they said the white line means its negative. Sorry.

BUMMMER :(...and some people just don't have tact...

Thanks for your responses, I will never buy them again, With trying to conceive for a full year now with clomid and fertility specialists and having 4 miscarriages in 4 years the last thing I need is false hope. i guess i'm out this month this is 13 to 14 dpo for me and i'm just so damned tired. Good luck to everyone in getting their BFP

Im on clomid too and when I saw that white line I had an ounce of hope that maybe this cycle was mine, but nope. I've been reading on the internet and some women say that they didnt get their bfp until 18 dpo so theres still hope. Im sorry about your miscarriages. Im no longer using first response either. Its clearblue digital for me.

I got a white evap line on my FRER last cycle too. Here's the link to my thread in the pregnancy tests section that shows my evap line. Might be helpful.

Good luck!!

Now I'm confused! I thought a FRER was a first response pregnancy test but the ones in that picture don't look like first response!!!??? xxxx

I think that lucy_lu10 took the test apart and has just photographed the strip that was inside the test.

I've just had the exact same thing this morning and was about to post and ask the question - when I saw your post. At least it answers my question - even if it wasn't the answer I wanted. I'm really annoyed as I've just bought a load of FRER as they were buy one get one free - and now I feel cheated :growlmad:

I took apart my frer this morning after getting a bfn and found a white evap line, wouldn't of seen it if I hasn't taken it apart though, I assumed it was evap as it was totally white, no pink to it at all.

Thanks everyone for your replys, to top it all off I did a Clearblue easy digital this morning so that I could just get a NOT pregnant and just accept it but it was faulty. Can you believe my luck All it had on it was something like a little book. I also did my last frer and same damn white line. I just wish af would come now so I can move on with my next cycle

Yeah, like someone mentioned, I photographed the tests with the cover removed. I could still see the evap line with cover on but it didn't photograph as well.

My heart breaks for everyone on here who's ever had false hope with a FRER...I've had it myself...but mine was a disappearing positive....bright pink line showed up immediately...I was so excited!! Then within the hour it completely disappeared. I tearfully called FR to find out what the hell happened...they told me I was holding the test in the pee too long and my test was neg. Sure enough AF showed the next day. The only thing that helps are the wonderful people here who virtually hug you and are here to support you! :)

I have had this too.. I think we just want to conceive so badly, we hope for any little indication.. so when its anything but stark white, it gets our hopes up! It's horrible to go through, I do it myself.

I know a lot of you guys have probably seen the site peeonastick.com, it's where I got this info:

"Most often the error lies in the interpretation. It's easy to squint, tilt the test, scan it and invert the color with a photo program, or try any number of tricks to see a positive result. (I've done it-- I know that of which I speak!) All tests are prone to evaporation lines-- a gray, colorless, "ghostlike" line, or a "dent" in the test in the place where a positive line would be.

All tests have two antibody strips in the test window. One of these lines will always turn pink (the control line) when exposed to moisture. The other line will turn pink only if exposed to moisture with hCG (pregnancy hormone.) These antibody strips are not invisible. They are difficult to see, but they're there. When exposed to moisture, the "results" line becomes easier to see (because the moisture causes the light to reflect differently.) When you scrutinize the test, therefore, you will always see "something" there. Alas, it doesn't count unless it is obviously pink (or blue, obviously, if using a test with blue dye.) If you can't tell what color it is or it's too faint, assume it is negative."
