Since coming home about 3 weeks ago my son has been on 1 brand of formula, liquid concentrate format Wal-Mart brand. Before he was born though we got a small can of Nestle Good Start powder mix for free. I am planning to switch over to using powder of the Wal Mart brand but I also don't want to just let this Good Start go bad, but I also of course don't want to hurt my son at all.

This can of Good Start I've approximated would last us about 2 to 2 and a half days.

Do you guys think my son would be ok if we used this then switched back over to the powder version of his current kind or would it be over all better to just ignore this can of Good Start? Like I say, I want to use the Good Start simply cause we have it and it's convenient, but would definitely forgo it's use if it was better for my son.

I can only speak for myself- but when sophie was very little once she got used to the one formula (she had a week of gas pain and constipation) when ever i tried to switch her to another formula she would have hells own trouble adjusting. If you really wanted to give it it a go- the worst that's going to happen is that he is going to be uncomfortable. You will know within 2-3 feeds if its going to be an issue, otherwise go on to craigslist and see if you can give the can away or swap it for what you are on.

My eight week old has been on 6 different kinds of formula (for various reasons), and the only one he did not like was the Good Start. That being said, he did fine on all the others, but we have decided to stick with Target Brand formula since he seems the most "regular" on that.

Hmm, idk for sure, but I probably wouldn't use it. Not that it would cause a serious problem or anything, but there is a possibility it could cause some digestive upset since his system is used to the other one. If it was me, that few days of formula wouldn't be worth the possibility of a few days of an unhappy baby with an unhappy belly lol.

like the others have said, young tummies tend to upset easily - check the expiration, and if it will last, maybe you can hold on to it for a few months and mix it in then?

Erm, I wouldn't just because then dramatic changes that could happen to LOs tummy and pooping and such.
All I know it Gerber was like poison to my son and had to switch to Similac and has been great ever since
