lets just boycott everything and live in a field eating nothing thats not grown by our own hands....wearing nothing that we havnt made ourselfs......not living a consumer lifestyle.......then we cant be buying into these companies or these arguments

Nestle don't sell their formula over here cos so many shops boycotted it :)

Oh no not again!!!
Ok hands up who lit the touch paper??:trouble:

I bet there is a lot of journalists looking at threads like this and rubbing their hands in glee.

C'mon on girls we are/have all fed our children in the best way for us.
It's not like we are giving them a bottle of baileys and liquidising nuggets
BF or FF they are being fed, and not put in any danger.

I would like to say though that if you think about it in the long term ,milk feeding, which ever way you do it, hanging upside down from a tree if you like  is such a small part of feeding a child, you are responsible for a long long time.
I FF both of mine but made all their meals from scratch, very rarely used Jars etc...
But some BF mums may use jars all the time.

It really doesn't matter as long as baby and child is happy and healthy does it?

obviously there is the convenience thing with formula (no one jump down my throat on that comment lol) x

Not jumping down your throat babe but how is formula more convenient?!! You have to prepare bottles with formula but with breast feeding all you have to do is get out a boob!!

xx

I admit it might be better for a baby to be bf, but I dont feel comfy to get out my boob to feed my baby. I found all the excuses not to BF, and had to leave the hospital one day earlier because of that. I tried to express but didnt get enough milk.

But again, I dont need an article to convince me that I took the right decision, as I knw I chose to FF because I wanted to.

My aunt BF her LO, and sometimes feeds mine. He really loves it.. but that didnt make me regret my dcision not BF

oo that's lovely that your aunt feeds your LO! I've never spoken to anyone who has had experience of that :cloud9:

It's common in my culture, when u'r unable to BF, all those who r will jumb into ur rescue. My mom insisted on it "for immunity" I guess. Not really convinced but had to agree to do it, as I really love my mom who went into tears when my LO couldnt latch on. I'm her only daughter & my LO is her 1st grand child, so I did what she thought "the best for my LO"

My aunt & LO love it, & I am ok with it. :happydance:

hurmm there will always be another company to step into its place though. and lets face it they are a world wide company they will never go bust cause the uks not buying their milk

 Oh for the simple life.

Saying that though, think I'd miss shopping too much

Oh I know but it's a nice gesture none the less. A couple of million less in their bank accounts anyway.

Good for you ladies
I seem to remember I think it was Salma Hayek feeding a starving baby in africa it was amazing.

That's lovely, I would have jumped at the chance for Freya to properly experience breastfeeding, even if not from me.

I remember reading that to but loads of people where criticizing it which i didnt understand. She couldnt just leave a baby crying with hunger.

i thought it was a awesome thing for her to do

To me 'wet nursing' is a bit odd but what that women did for that starving is admirable :-)

hi girls, was just wondering if anyone else saw this new research.
something to do with hormones in the womb affecting your ability to breast feed and the absence of these hormones causing allergies etc???
i.e. its isnt breasfeeding that causes babies to have less allegies etc!! its if the hormones are present!
it made me feel a hell of a lot less guilty!!
the breast police can go away now!

xxx:hugs:

for a start why do u feel guilt ? babies fed and happy so what does it matter ?:flower:

But why the hell did u post this thread if not to cause a argument ? breast police come on ......:growlmad::dohh:

Thought I would make a little test!

Which is nutritionally best?

Pure juice or from concentrate
Finest range or value range
real sausages or hotdog sausages
homemade food or jar food
whole chicken or chicken nuggets :D

If you answered as the first answer then isn't it the same for breast and formula?

I don't see anything wrong with wet nursing. You drink milk from a cows udder, so why not a human breast?

Interesting! These threads always are!

Breast is best in the sense that it's from the Mummy, it's the most natural (hope that came across right)
I BF for 5 months then changed to FF and i can see that both have benefits. Although I do wish some days that I didn't have bottles to wash LOL. Not sure i could have coped with that in the first weeks.... snuggled on sofa feeding my baby was way better! :) But its what suits everyone that matters!

Do wish tho that BF was normal and the first choice, maybe one day it will be again.

Wet nursing ... I would do it. If a baby needed feeding and I was able to offer it food I would.
