Is it weird to buy a breast pump from ebay? Or should you buy them new? I get a bit squeamish with used things but wanted to see what others thought?

xx

id defo buy new they aiint that expensive to be honest ... i feel the same lol i wouldnt use a used breast pump lol maybe a bit stuck up :O but it does make me a little uneasy thinking my baby will be drinking milk that some1 elses milk has been in lol im weird!! yes but i dont like the thought x

There are somethings i would buy used and some i would have to buy new... Breast pump is a defo new for me... along with reuseable nappies things like them just seem wrong used

I thought so... I was looking around on ebay as people love it but i've never actually bought anything from it! Thought i'd just take at look breast pumps on there and saw they are mostly used. I assumed it might be a bit gross to get one that's been used but wasn't sure if i was being snobby...

oh well maybe we are all snobby.....:happydance:

I was given an electric one by someone DH new and I was made up. Dont forget they only need a good old clean and the hospital rent the same ones out for women who has too much milk to give to the prem babies so it cant be that 'urgghh' But i can totally understand why you would want a new one

The hospital rent 'medical grade' breast pumps.. they need to be medical grade to be shared...

I'd go with your instincts.....

I was pondering buying a used but don't think I can bring myself to so it!!

Might be able to get a new one cheap from eBay perhaps if someone bought one and never used it though....

14 pounds in the sale in very for a avent 1 .. so they arnt to bad prince wise to buy a used 1 x

I bought a £70 brand new medela electric pump. I couldn't have a used one! There are some things that I'm not too worried about, but things that have had someone else's bodily fluids on/in, I couldn't bring myself to use!

I probably wouldnt use a used one, however they can be sterilised so your
baby wouldnt be affected if you did. x

£17 with free delivery...

you will probably find some brand new ones on ebay for cheaper than in the shops. You find loads of brand new bargains on there too :D

I don't think I could buy a used one...gives me the jeebies to be honest. The ones at the hospital are sterilized so i might be okay with that but not one from ebay...

Personally I would definitely buy new. For some reason there are always used pumps for sale in my works intranet noticeboard and I have always thought yuk! Who would buy a used one! Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that!

The pump that i borrowed from someone it was mostly the "horns" that go on your boobs that would touch the milk.. not the actual pump... the one that i used had tubes that you hooked onto the bottle and onto the pump.. but the milk never went in those tubes... so i guess i dont see the ickyness of a used pump.. as long as you got new tubing and "horns" but i used a medela pump last time...

Well I'm the opposite of all you lot then! I bought a used (but great condition) one off ebay. All the bits that need to be sterilised were sterilised so not a problem! Glad I didnt pay full price for one cos Didn't end up BF'ing for very long at all for various reasons in the end!

I bought my manual pump new (half price Tommee Tippee CTN, about £13). I got my electric CTN pump from ebay cos it was fifty quid cheaper. And given that I stopped BFing about a week later, kind of glad I didn't spend too much. I soaked mine in milton once I got it.

My friend gave me her medela hospital grade electric pump and I have to go buy the attachments. I think its okay to use the hospital grade ones sharing - at least I hope its okay, but it is defo not recommended to share the non hospital breast pumps amongst more than one lady.
