Colsy, when we did a 6 hour drive, we just made sure Harry has plenty of toys, a teether toy he likes for chewing on, some water in a valved beaker that I could hand to him every now & then (it gets really hot in our car unless we have the a/c on coz of the leather seats) & made sure we took a break to stop every 2 hours to feed him & have a stretch & play & some fresh air. He slept for about half the journey, & was awake for the rest. Having one of those sucky-on mirrors so you can see them if you're sat in the front is pretty handy too

Harry's pretty good at enteratining himself. he usually doesn't care what I'm up to- he's too into exploring everything... mainly the things he shouldn't, lol.

As for the travel high chairs, the cloth ones seem pretty good. We still use the bebepod, as he loves it & still has plenty of room in it & coz it's got a strap, he can't get out very easily, whereas the bumbo, he got out of at 4 mths, lol.

Oooh, I noticed Harry had some white spots on his gums too, so maybe he will finally start cutting those elusive teethypegs???!!!

we had a nice time at the sealife park- he LOVED the shark tunnel & was fascinated by the dragon seahorses, giant turtles & the black tipped reef sharks the best. He feel asleep by the time we got round to the rays & stuff like that, but I know he'd have loved those. he was totally chilled as a cucumber the whole time we were there :) We didnt take many pics as you weren't allowed to use flash photography & it was pitch black almost in some parts of the exhibits :( I whacked quite a few ppl in the ankles with the buggy coz I couldn't see where I was going! :dohh:

Someone asked about less sleep too- Harry's sleeping less- he's pretty much cut out his morning nap & manages an hour-hour half in the afternoon, & wont settle for bed these days before 9pm, then sleeps through till about 5am, then sleeps through again till about 9:30ish. He's also become a bit less interested in food during the day, but seems ravenous for his evening meal, so i guess it's ok.

edit, re holidays- we're classing our honeymoon to Italy as our summer holiday this year. no way can we afford to go aborad again in 2010, lol!!!! We're off to Norfolk for a week mid august to stay with my dad & see my family & friends up there, and I have finally talked OH into going away camping for a weekend (probably new forest as it's only an hour away) soon too, so that'll be it for us. Taking Harry away to Italy (he was just over 6mths) wasn't as big of an ordeal as I thought it would be & we really enjoyed it & sharing it with him- OK so he wont remember it, but still, we have some wicked photos of him, lol. :)

Morning all :flower:,

Colsy - The latter about holidays! We are currently saving up the Sun newspaper £9.50 holiday tokens in order to have a get-away in October :D I have no holiday days left to take from work until 1st September anyways and Nij tried to book his birthday off August 2011 and got told it's fully booked already :dohh:

Playtime wise Chloe is really good (don't hate me!) but I think that nursery has helped with this. This morning I left her and they put her on the carpet and made her breakfast whilst she played with a ball. At home she can quite happily sit on the floor and play away, I usually get a few things out and then let her empty the rest of the toy box herself (have a few different ones like music box, animal box, tool box etc). She is happy so long as we are about and she knows we are watching. I do interact with her as well obviously and have to keep my eye on her so if I need to pop into the kitchen I usually have her in her car walker or the jumperoo. I started to say good bye and hello when coming out of the room and these last few days I haven't had as many tears or tantrums as she now gets I am on my way back. This doesn't always work but like you say, things just have to be done sometimes and she has to learn to wait.

Flora: It was me about sleep, Chloe is trying to push for a late night but I'm not letting it happen! She seems pretty 'wired' in an evening but goes to sleep fine when I pop her to bed so just going to keep doing the same! Glad you had a good time at the aquarium :D Enjoy the camping trip, hope your hubby gets converted!

Tell you what ladies, commuting sure is good excersise! I walked for over an hour today already! Last night was hell again, can't recall many journies that haven't been lol It took over an hour to do five mins distance. There was an accident on the motorway and then because of extra traffic there was another accident another on a main commuter route so they closed that road too and there was lots of diverted traffic. I set off from work at 4.25 and walked through the door just after 7pm. Chloe was so good on the bus, a lady even commented how well behaved she had been :cloud9: Thankfully I had an emergency milk feed in my bag! It was great, she made a friend with this big burley tatooed guy, he was a builder, shaved head, think you can imagine the type lol He was playing all sorts of little games with her, it was very cute!

EDIT: Any good luck vibes please send this way, my Sis is in A&E, not sure what is going on but she hasn't been very well of late and she is 9wks gone.

Kte- Hope your sister is okay :hugs:

not too much going on here- still having issues with my new netbook :grr: I swear I'm jinxed when it comes to computers! Emma has been dropping loads of daytime feeds, only to make them up at night  I think today we are going to be working on upping the daytime BFs again since she seems to have dropped too many (so much for "weaning", lol). One of my friends came round for the afternoon yesterday. It was nice to hang out together but it definitely made me realize that other than baby stuff, there isn't too much going on with me these days!

No holidays for us either- hubby is too busy at work in the summer. We were thinking of going back to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean this winter but bought the caravan so now it's looking like we probably won't be going away this winter. Oh well, hopefully we get lots of use out of the caravan next summer- wish I didn't have to give up the tropical vacation for it but in the long term, it's probably a better purchase.

Kte ~ Sending healing vibes to your sissy .. hope all is well with bean .. :hugs:

So, we've had a crappy couple days here. Button has the squits BAD .. I think just a tummy virus or something, which in turn has brought out a yeasty nappy rash with a vengeance. Its HORRID. She also refused to eat yesterday ... which I wasn't worried about really as she asked for and drank water. Well we got some cream from the Dr for her bottom and we're back on a liquid only diet at the moment .. got some of the Similac diarrhoea formula. Seems to be helping. Hopefully her little bum heals soon. Its heartbreaking how she screams when you're trying to clean it.

On another note, we've been working on her staying in bed later than 5am.

Day two of operation 'stay in bed' and she slept 630pm till 8am!!! I went in at 430 to change her bum as we have to keep changing it every couple hours at the moment to help the rash, and I gave her a drink, and yup, back to sleep she went! I really hope this keeps up!!

What's everyone up to today?

Thanks, not sure what is up tbh. Well, in a way I do. She keeps on having panic attacks, her body thinks it's not getting enough oxygen when it's getting too much. Her husband didn't say why she had gone to A&E earlier. They (the hospital) never checked the baby. I'm worried about her, i'm not sure if you remember but a few months back she miscarried, well now every time something is wrong she is really really worrying, which is understandable really. I'm kind of annoyed that the gp or the hospital or someone isn't monitoring her more but she never goes to them for help or says anything to them about it. Well they know she has problems with high blood pressure and water retention but like the other day she suffered with migranes the whole weekend and never called the hosp or maternity ward. I know that there prob isn't a whole lot they can do but they must be able to put her mind at rest at least. She has recently started with high blood pressure, migranes, the other day she lost some of her vision. She hasn't seen a MW yet for her first appointment, I wanted her to call maternity ward but she didn't. It might not be related to her pregnancy but it's weird how it has all started just before she found out she was expecting again. Anyways, thanks for you well wishes x

Kaites: I noticed that Chloe doesn't actually ask for her milk feeds anymore, do you think the same could be happening with Emma? If she catches a glimps of a bottle she goes crazy but if it's not presented to her she doesn't bother.

Chaos: Chloe has been very bad in the dirty nappy department, omg the stink! Not sure what isn't agreeing with her either. Hope that horrible rash goes soon for Autumn :hugs: Hurray for the sleep in operation working! :happydance:

When I read this, I had visions of me flashing my boobs to Emma to see if she goes crazy  I think she is probably the same as Chloe, asking for it less and not being bothered if not offered. We had a busy couple of days so I bet that's what was happening. just kinda annoying when she wakes up twice before midnight for feeds (I gave in and brought her into the spare room to co-sleep after that since I was too tired to bother going into her room every hour).

I hope your sister's pregnancy goes okay- hopefully once she's out of the first tri, she'll relax a bit and the panic attacks will go away. I'm sure if she just had a loss, it's easier said than done at this point.

Chaos- Hope Autumn's feeling better :hugs: Not too much going on today- laundry is ready to be hung (my summer resolution is to actually use the clothesline and only use the dryer on rainy days) and then I should tackle chopping some veggies and making dough for a pizza crust. In other words, a boring domestic day- how about y'all?

Kaites do you use any pillow/cushion when feeding Emma? Noah always lies on the same pillow on my knee and he gets excited when I pick the pillow up (we only use it at home) He often doesnt ask now but im trying to offer as he just seems so preoccupied with everything going on around him.

Chaos hope Autumn feels better soon.

Kte lots of :hugs: for your sis.

oooh I need a holiday, if I wasn't pregnant i'd be off on some jollies.

Chaos, hugs to Autumn.

Kte, hugs for your sis.

You know I asked a couple of weeks ago whether once your babes started crawling they were much less frustrated? Well, I defo think this is the case for Monty. Now he is scooting around the place, he is much less interested in me because now he can help himself to things without having to ask, and generally he's just having such a cool time whizzing around the floor. Busy day today - morning at play group, and then afternoon at Messy Play session. He's burning so many calories suddenly that this will surely lead to one of two things - either he will sleep better at night (please!) ... or he'll start to get hungrier at night (no, Monty, the first option is better!). I'll be sure to let you know :-)

Maffie- nope, haven't used a pillow in ages. Emma's way too big to add a pillow to the equation :) She has got into the bad habit of launching herself into my boobs when she's in the mood to feed- she groped my friend yesterday when playing on the couch :dohh:

Colsy- I hope Monty starts sleeping through  That's great that he is less frustrated though!

:haha: Kaites Noah pulls the necks on peoples tops.

Colsy Noah's activity has just made him even leaner cant say i've noticed more night hunger.

Kaites, Harry does that launching thing too & is kinda obsessed with other people's boobs :dohh: Luckily no one seems to mind, but when he tries to get at OH's man boobies, he gets a bit peeved & hands him back saying 'the boy is trying to eat me!'

Boring day here- couldn't be arsed to do much :( It's been super muggy too- I just wish it would rain already!

Harry's suddenly become a bit more adventurous with his food & I've noticed he's getting proper chubby now (yay!) which I'm pretty sure is due to him eating better & not dropping anymore BFs. He's started sleeping better again the past couple of nights, but now requires 2 boobs for some of his feeds, whereas before, he always refused. So that's kinda cool. It's nice seeing him with some appitite again & actually asking for things- kinda the opposite to what some of you have said about your LOs.

Hi! Hope everybody is ok! Phoebe and I are fine and I can't beleive she is now 9 months old! Where is the time going!! Still trying to sort out my hours at work as I'm due to return in October but they are being soooo slow at replying to my request! Very frustrating but trying not to let it spoil my last few months at home but just wish they would let me know what they are willing to let me do! Been raining here for last few hours so fingers crossed it clears the air a bit as it has been very muggy here too!

Afternoon all

Not much going on here (as in where I am lol). On a short training course in a mo for an hour.

We got some of the rain yesterday with some nice thunder too; Chloe never batted an eye lid!

Bingers: Happy 9 months for Phoebe!

Hope we are all okay :flower:

Gosh, quiet in here today. Everybody's getting less and less chatty as the days go by. Have just found a superb-looking complex of holiday cottages in Devon. They're five stars, child-friendly, outdoor swimming pool, five or ten mins to lovely villages and beaches, and best of all about half the price of the ones I'd found previously - surely there's a catch somewhere?

Re sleep, Monty is currently in a bit of a routine of waking for a feed anywhere between 10.30pm and 1.30am. He generally goes down again quite well (though last night I had to pace the floor with him for about 20minutes cos he refused to close his eyes), and then sleeps til any time between 5am and 7am. He then comes in with us for a feed, meaning I at least can stay lying down with my eye closed - OH meanwhile makes us a cuppa and biccie.

Isn't it funny how things with babies happen for about a week and then we think 'right, that's it now'? So I'm sort of thinking this is going to be his routine for ages, but of course I should know better and for all I know he could get even better tonight ... or he could go into super-sleep-regression mode. You just never know what the next night will bring :winkwink:

I submitted my tender yesterday, so now I just have to wait and see. I am really excited about it, but I suppose I should try not to be just yet, because there's a larger than average chance that I won't win the bid. Oh well, at least I can say I tried.

I'm at work today. Then tomorrow it's baby yoga, and then Friday it's the last day of term of playgroup, followed by a drink in the evening with the parents from playgroup at one of our local pubs (it's mums and dads, but we don't use a babysitter or have any relatives nearby, so it's prob just me going out on the Friday night).

So how is everyone else? Maffie, how you feeling today? Kte, how is your sister? Chaos, how is Autumn? Aimee, how did your visit to the job agency go? Flora, great to hear that Harry is enjoying his food again now.

Oh, quick Q: when do babies stop eating all and sundry? Seriously, Monty will just put EVERYTHING in his mouth still. Like yesterday at Messy Play he ate shaving foam  and sand

Colsy: She seems okay today thanks, its the weather that keeps triggering her off. She has her first MW appointment today at 3pm so hoping it goes well for her. I remember the early ones being such an anti-climax!

Good luck with the tender :flower:

Chloe still eats pretty much anything she gets in her hands still too!

(Best dash!)

Actually I loved my early MW apptmts. They just made it all feel so real. And I LOVED my community MW. I shall be so upset if we don't have her next time around.

Glad to hear Chloe also still eats everything in sight. There's this gorgeous little girl at Messy Play who's just so delicate. She carefully prods everything with one finger and then looks at it as if to say 'Oh, that's horrid, I don't want it near me thank you'. Whereas there's my boy getting stuck in, stuff all over the shop, straight in his eyes and mouth :haha:

Meant to say, got a bit of a show-offy thing to say about Monty. My friend's mum met him yesterday and just couldn't stop telling me how gorgeous he is  Quote: 'Oh goodness, he looks like he should be in an old-fashioned Pear's Soap advert' :cloud9: Ha, bet he won't like being told that in ten years' time!

I think it was more that they were too far apart! I really liked my MW too, had a few stand in's and wasn't so keen on them.

Eating wise, it's weird as everthing goes in her mouth but she certainly knows what is food and what isn't!

Aw that's nice, yep that's an embarrasing talke for his 18th!

Happy Wednesday :)

We're having a boring day here- rainy out so I'm still in my PJs :) Emma did not want to sleep last night- it took me until midnight to finally get her to sleep only to have hubby wake up with a noisy sleep apnea attack when I crawled into bed, waking Emma up again :dohh: I could have shot him :growlmad: At least she didn't take as long to get back to sleep.

Colsy- hope they accept your proposal :flower:

Flora- Emma used to try to latch onto hubby too but now she just likes to flick his man-nipples and pet his chest hair :haha:
