Colsy, when we did a 6 hour drive, we just made sure Harry has plenty of toys, a teether toy he likes for chewing on, some water in a valved beaker that I could hand to him every now & then (it gets really hot in our car unless we have the a/c on coz of the leather seats) & made sure we took a break to stop every 2 hours to feed him & have a stretch & play & some fresh air. He slept for about half the journey, & was awake for the rest. Having one of those sucky-on mirrors so you can see them if you're sat in the front is pretty handy too
Harry's pretty good at enteratining himself. he usually doesn't care what I'm up to- he's too into exploring everything... mainly the things he shouldn't, lol.
As for the travel high chairs, the cloth ones seem pretty good. We still use the bebepod, as he loves it & still has plenty of room in it & coz it's got a strap, he can't get out very easily, whereas the bumbo, he got out of at 4 mths, lol.
Oooh, I noticed Harry had some white spots on his gums too, so maybe he will finally start cutting those elusive teethypegs???!!!
we had a nice time at the sealife park- he LOVED the shark tunnel & was fascinated by the dragon seahorses, giant turtles & the black tipped reef sharks the best. He feel asleep by the time we got round to the rays & stuff like that, but I know he'd have loved those. he was totally chilled as a cucumber the whole time we were there
We didnt take many pics as you weren't allowed to use flash photography & it was pitch black almost in some parts of the exhibits
I whacked quite a few ppl in the ankles with the buggy coz I couldn't see where I was going!
Someone asked about less sleep too- Harry's sleeping less- he's pretty much cut out his morning nap & manages an hour-hour half in the afternoon, & wont settle for bed these days before 9pm, then sleeps through till about 5am, then sleeps through again till about 9:30ish. He's also become a bit less interested in food during the day, but seems ravenous for his evening meal, so i guess it's ok.
edit, re holidays- we're classing our honeymoon to Italy as our summer holiday this year. no way can we afford to go aborad again in 2010, lol!!!! We're off to Norfolk for a week mid august to stay with my dad & see my family & friends up there, and I have finally talked OH into going away camping for a weekend (probably new forest as it's only an hour away) soon too, so that'll be it for us. Taking Harry away to Italy (he was just over 6mths) wasn't as big of an ordeal as I thought it would be & we really enjoyed it & sharing it with him- OK so he wont remember it, but still, we have some wicked photos of him, lol.
