harry hates socks & i can't even get shoes on him as he curls his toes up & wigfgles too much, then if I do get them on, he just tries to eat them :dohh:

Are any of the other bumpkins obsessed with pulling off their socks?! I cannot keep a pair on James for more than about half a second! Unless he has his shoes on in which case he is content to play with the velcro. Hes got size 3 feet so I dont think they even do those sock grip thingys big enough. Any ideas? Must dash cos he is yelling in his cot. Think its going to be a night for calpol :(

I think Autumn has worn socks about 3 times in her entire life lol.Even then they were off about .34 seconds later. I gave up. It's SO hot here right now anyways she's always bare foot. I've got her some soft shoes that we're slowly introducing. She needs something on her feet now she's standing all the time.

I haven't tried to put Emma in socks for a few months now- mostly because the weather has been too warm for socks- but I bet she'd whip them off pretty quick too :)

Happy belated 9 months to Chloe and 10 months to Autumn!

Hope everyone is well- had a long weekend here so we were busy with picnics and trips to the beach again. It was nice though since hubby is usually at work when Emma and I hit the beach or go out on my dad's boat so he was able to enjoy some time seeing Emma swim. She's getting really good at kicking her legs and moving her arms around and when she's got her little floaty ring on, she can actually swim forward pretty fast. Anyway, I better get going- I'm attempting to tidy the house a bit before bed but got lured into procrastinating at the computer- again! :haha:

Morning all, hope were all well, well im off work for a few days as George has a virus, head to toe in a rash, and a temperate too, been the doctors and they said it can last up to a week!! poor thing, we no hes got it from Nursery as theres another little boy whos off with the same thing, plus he was 10 months old yesturday too, time is flying by so quickly, well i hope everyone is well and babies are too xxxx

Chloe rarely wears socks and if she does Nursery usually take them off, think it's too much of a challenge to keep track of all the baby socks! I do need to get her used to shoes but she is just on the brink of figuring out how to pull her self up, when she is on her feet more I will introduce them. She still loves popping her feet in her mouth (she is still so flexible!) so I'm guessing what ever would be put on there would come right off.

Morning all,

Well just had a :coffee: and want another :dohh: Its so darn quiet - not in here, at work! I really shouldn't complain, will be nice to have my colleague back off her hols tomorrow, I'm going crazy not having people to talk to! I'm sure she may not be so glad to retun!

Maffie: Hope you get the extra 6 weeks. Sorry to hear your back is aching

Sam: Hope George feels better soon and a belated happy 10 months! :happydance:

Kaites: Absolutely gorgeous picture of Emma in your avatar :flower: Is she good with her hair? Chloe's has started to grow at the back and she yanks on it sometimes

Hi everyone :hi:

Aimee-Lou - Glad to hear that Earl is ok but so sorry that you burnt yourself. It must've caused quite a scare! :hugs:

Kte - Halifax wasn't as good as I had hoped. Unfortunately, despite an hour and a half nap before we headed out Megan was really fussy. Such a shame as we only have one car so I don't get out much during the week unless we walk down to the beach. Kind of ruined the day really so not much fun. :nope:
Grinding teeth sounds a bit nasty. Hopefully that won't last too long! Very impressed with your baking skills. I am toying with the idea of making Megans cake, although its not til end of October. She needs a vegan one due to allergies and its proving virtually impossible to find anyone that will make one over here. I'll need several months to practice as I'm no baker!!!

Florabean - :happydance: Yeh for the new dishwasher. We have one here but never had one in the UK and still wash up the hard way! I guess we are so used to doing it that way. :dohh:

Littlekitten8 - Megan's socks don't last long on her feet. She loves to play with them and eat them too! Keeps her amused for hours in the car. :haha:

Colsy - Good luck with your tender. Hope it comes through for you and good luck too with the new tactics.

Maffie - Sorry to hear that your back is playing up. Hopefully it is just the baby lying funny and nothing more sinister. :hugs:

Sam - Hope George gets better soon and "Happy 10 months" :happydance:

Kaites - We had a long weekend too and took Megan to the beach. Like you daddy doesn't get chance to come normally so he enjoyed it too. The sea here is absolutely freezing so we haven't taken her in it yet. Way too cold for me to even paddle although OH went in to his ankles for a bit with her. She loves playing in the sand and gets absolutely covered. :dohh: Which province are you in? Sounds like its warmer waters over there than here!

A quick question for you all...Megan was 9 months on 25th July and still can't pick up food from her tray. No pincer grip yet. She still flicks stuff everywhere or just squashes it in her fist. Do any other bumpkins do this? She is getting to the stage whereby she won't eat anything I give her on the spoon but can't do BLW either. She also won't each lumps of any sort. For the past couple of days she's hardly eaten a thing. She just opens her mouth and spits it all out again. Her milk intake hasn't increased either to compensate...getting really worried about her as she's tiny and can't afford to lose weight. Don't know what to do. I've tried putting nibbles on the floor around her but she just flicks them around and won't eat them. Pretty sure she's not teething so I don't think its that.

Kte- She has sort of outgrown the hair pulling phase (FX'd anyway)- she did it for a while about a month ago. It's funny because hubby is all about brushing her hair after he gives her a bath- I usually just let it be messy but he makes sure every hair is in place. Oh and I meant to add yesterday that Emma has also discovered the teeth grinding- creeps me right out! I hope that phase passes quickly! Hope you aren't too bored at work and time passes quickly for you :flower:

Sam- Hope George feels better soon!

Megawansmum- I'm in Ontario- smaller, warmer bodies of water here :winkwink: Emma loves playing in the sand too but I have to watch her like a hawk because she'll eat it if given the chance :dohh: One of my best friends lives outside Halifax, in Truro :) no advice re: weaning- Emma's got the pincer grip now but I wouldn't worry too much if she's a couple weeks behind in developing it. I think all babies go through phases where they like to play with their food more than eat it. Emma sometimes plays more than eats too. I hope it passes for you guys soon and Megan doesn't lose any weight :hugs:

Okay so this is a bit gross, but has anyone noticed that now that their LO is on solids, their morning pee sometimes stinks? By the time Emma gets up in the morning, her nappy sometimes stinks and I'm realizing that certain foods make for an icky smell- broccoli and spag bol are the first couple I've noticed  hope no one was eating while reading that :haha:

What's everyone up to today? Rainy here- blah! I'm still slowly getting together all the paperwork for doing the licenced home daycare so one of my references is coming by later to fill out one of the forms. I really need to work more on that stuff- at this rate, Emma will be heading off to kindergarten before I finish  Anyway, hope everyone is well :hugs:

megewansmum: Awh shame Megan was fussy on your trip. Don't think we ever asked what day she was born! Guessing from above its the 25th? My cousin had a little boy on the same day :D Chloe is a Halloween baby, she was due 24th but hung on in until the very last day! I'll be getting a few cake practice runs in soon, been a while! Hmm not sure about food, I know some people in the TW support thread have said they have problems with lumps, might be worth a peek?https://www.babyandbump.com/weaning-nutrition/357758-tw-traditional-weaning-support-thread.html Are you BF or FF? Only ask because I was told that at around this ages babies should have a min of 586ml milk a day - not so easy to monitor when BF though, maybe speak to your HV to see if they have any advice? :flower:

Kaites: Not so bored now, it's more 'no one is here' rather than 'nothing to do', just makes the time go slower! What with the students all finished until September all the academics go off on holiday pretty much as they can't take any time off the rest of the academic year. Ghost town springs to mind! There are a few duty staff but that's it.

Glad its not just Chloe pulling her hair. Yeah I really hope the teeth grinding stops soon too! Nij loves doing bath time too with Chloe; he tried to platt my hair the otherday in preparation to do Chloe's! :haha:

It's so weird you both talking about Halifax and Truro, always gets me you have places with the same name as the UK. Halifax is near to me but yours sounds much nicer! Truro is down in Cornwall. Anyway, mini Geography lesson over

Hope you get more of the paperwork done

Oh and nappy wise, unfortunatly its more the dirty ones  Yesterday the nursery claimed Chloe stank out the baby room with a 'man poo' She really does have festival toilet bottom sometimes!!

:hi: ladies :flower:

Aimee, glad Earl is ok- I hope your scalds feel less sore soon hun!

Happy 10 months to all those hitting that milestone & happy belated 9 months to Chloe too.

Kaites, i love your new avatar of Emma- she's a cutie. Glad you had fun at the beach. The beaches here are all all stones & shells- no sand, but harry has a habit of picking the stones up & showving them in his mouth as if they're boiled sweets so we have to watch him like a hawk too... He's very into licking everything at the moment- feet, walls, the stairgate, the carpet, the floor tiles... it's kinda gross. Also, yeah, harry's morning pee smells rank too- i think it's coz it's been in the nappy for longer & the ammonia gets more & more concentrated perhaps???

Kte- Harry's a hair puller too, and a hair sucker given half a chance. I dont think he really means to pull, but he's fasvintaed by hair, including his own & often sits there stroking it, especially when I'm feeding him.

Megewansmum- how does one make a vegan cake??? i wouldn't have a clue where to begin with that one. :dohh: I meant to ask, in the groups section on here there's a group for Canadian mum & mums to be- i'm sure there must be loadsa other canadian mummies in your area on there if you ever needed a freidn nearby? :)

Chaos, how are you feeling now?

Sam, sorry to hear george is poorly :( despite that, i hope you get a bit of rest while not being at work at least!

Kte- "festival toilet bottom" Too funny :) Glad to hear Emma's not the only lil stinker out there! That's cute that Nij is preparing to plait Chloe's hair. My hubby would be all thumbs trying to do something like that.

Yeah, geography-wise, our British roots are all over the place here. Although, living on the border with Quebec, we've got loads of French references too (I live on a French named street in a suburb called Orleans). Across the river from Ottawa was Hull but it was too English sounding, so the Quebecois renamed the whole region Gatineau  There are a couple people on BnB with their location listed as just the town and while most of the time I can assume it must be the British town, every so often something in a post will make me wonder if it's actually the Canadian town they are in.

I guess there must be a lot of work preparing for the next school year. My mum worked in the office of a high school and found the same thing- esp. the ghosttown-ness when the other ladies took holidays. At least you'll have your co-worker back soon :)

Flora- harry sounds cute with the stones :) Emma was trying to be stealthy with her sand eating after I kept intervening on the handfuls of sand- she started to lick her toy, dip it in the sand and then lick the sand off the toy :dohh: Pretty funny the ingenuity they have even at a young age :)

Hiya everyone!!
I'm sorry, I find it impossible keeping up with the thread  hope you are all doing ok anyway.

Well, this year is just zooming past...Ethan is 9 months old today  and fills my heart with sooo much love and joy every day :cloud9:
We are suffering BIG TIME with teething STILL and still no teeth through!! Is he the only one of the bumpkins (technically Ethan isn't a bumpkin as he was late and born 3rd November but my preg journey had been with the bumpkins) with still no teeth there??
We are still BFing but I;m not sure for much longer as he seems to be losing interest..only feeds for like 2mins!! He prefers to be playing or watching Mickey mouse on tv!! He isn't crawling, he seems to have decided rolling is less of an effort and still gets him where he wants to go! Its funny watching him rolling accross the living room floor to get something thats caught his eye then roll right back again lol
He eats absolutely EVERYTHING and up to today, funnily enough has been a dream baby where sleeping is concerned..12 hours nightly with 2hour morning nap in his cot if we are at home, and another nap in cot in afternoon too USUALLY but he's dropped the aft nap today!

:hugs: to those in need. I do try to read up on whats happening but can't always! xxxx

Afternoon all went to look at prams today, rubbish!!!!! Heard baby's heartbeat today saw new community mw what a load rubbish she was. Oh well never mind.

Works said the leave is fine and ive got more left to take before the 12 October which I miscalculated so need to write to them and let them know about bubs and leave, not sure how they will take the news. Bit worried about it.

Ive read back and forgot half of what I was going to write :dohh:

Hi ladies,

I'm not in a good mood. Today we went to Norwich to speak to someone about houses. I've just finished doing the forms that we could have done at home only to get an email to say it'll be 4 weeks before we even get a login!!

Add to that that when we got back from Norwich my MIL decided that it was the right time (at 5.30 in the evening) to start to tell me, over and over, that I need to get a job. I'm sending off application after application and getting nothing. I have an interview with a bookmakers but I can't book it online because the system wont let me! I have a job (pretty much but I'm trying to think positive) but it wont start til November, so now I'm stuck with trying to get temp work and nothing is coming from the agency so I'm going to have to spend tomorrow on the phone......grrrrrrrrr I seriously can't win. On the plus side we got a £100 rebate off the phone bill so we have got the shopping in, bought Earl a walker and managed to get a few millie's cookies to up the spirits!

Earl loves his walker...he's a demon! We got him one of those wooden ones from the ELC (£25) and he thinks it's great! I can see him being unstoppable pretty quickly!

Right, gotta go. I'm starved as with all the tension I couldn't face dinner so I'm going to go and nuke a tin of beans for us to have. Mmmmm beans!

Flora - it's at the RAF Radar Museum at Horning (near Potter Heigham) so it's outside of Norwich. Went past the one you were talking about today though and it looks really nice.

Megan - I read the same as Kte (the 568/1pt) but Earl probably doesn't have that some days nowadays. after 1 year it's 330ml (a can of coke) but that's including dairy products, not just milk. As long as they're eating a balanced diet though I don't see a problem......Earl eats pretty much anything nowadays!!!

Don't talk to me about poo....Earl is the master of the stink at the moment!

Going now....off to go sulk lol. Lovely ladies...have a good night

Just had a read back through the past few weeks of posts

Chaos :hugs::hugs: double hugs to you on your ordeal, hope you are recovering well.

Jo79- Sorry to hear your OH has done a bunk, hope your getting by ok :hugs:

Aimee- Ouch, sounds painful, poor you! And bless Earl landing on all fours like a cat lol :hugs:

It was someones birthday too...Kte?? Happy birthday xxxx

Littlekitten- wow well done James,he is super advanced bet your so proud of him!

Well I've read back and seems I'm the only one with a little one with no teeth still and no crawling!? He does roll everywhere though and apparantly this is fine, developmental wise. I keep telling myself off for comparing Ethan to other babies as they really do all learn things at different times don't they. He may not be crawling but he been sitting unaided since 6month old, been using the pincer grip (can pick up grains of rice!!) for a while now, is quite advanced vocally, and plays peekaboo with me in a way that sometimes its hard to believe he is only 9 months old! Oh and also he has been able to sit himself up from being lay down for a few weeks now! I'm sure now that those of you with crawling and cruising bumpkins are gonna say that your babies do all that too :haha::dohh:

Ethan is also one of the smaller ones along with Harry, Megan, Noah and James...at 8 months he weighed 17lb 15. I'm getting him weighed again on Friday now he's turned 9 months.

I think all babies develop at such a varied rate its a case of go with the flow. Noah is obsessed with trying to walk and the sitting, crawling seem second nature but vocally all he wants to babble is mamamamama which is lovely but im looking forward to more 'words' he's testing his pitch recently boy do my ears hurt on the high notes!

oooh the how do you all decide how much to offer food wise? The HV said a portion the size of Noah's palm is enough, now he wouldn't be happy or satisfied with that. He might be small but has a big appetite so I just let him signal he's had enough rather than give a 'set amount' what does everyone else do?

Normally a 2 tablespoon serving of each item to start, so for example tonight is pork chops, mac n cheese and veg. She'll get 2 table spoon of mac n cheese, 1/4 pork chop and then 2 table spoon of mixed veg. She lets us know if she's still hungry with this annoying "uh, uh, uh, uh" whine lol. If shes still hungry I'll give her more veg or a cup of mixed fruit for pudding.

Thanks Chaos, Noah does a hmm hmmm hmm hmmmmmmmm when he's still hungry. Sounds like Autumn eats a similar amount to Noah.

Maffie - I offer Earl his food in stages. A portion the size of Earl's palm wouldn't see him at all. He will keep eating until he's full whenhe stops eating and starts playing and babbling (talking doesn't happen while there's food on the go normally lol).

Breakfast is cereal (1-2 handfuls -my size) with a tiny bit of milk to moisten it. He eats about half, then normally a yoghurt and a drink of juice. If he's eaten all of that I'll sometime cut up an apple or offer him some berries.

Lunch is a single slice of bread with spread/ham/cheese or a similar sized portion of something like quiche, or cheese on toast, or tuna melt, or something along those lines. Plus a few snacks (organix type thing), with a portion of fruit and a biscuit. Drink of juice or water.

Dinner is half a stage 2 jar (or equivilant of homemade), then a portion of wahtever we're eating, then a dessert (yoghurt or jar or whatever we're having) then if he's still hungry he can have a biscuit.

Bearing in mind that he still has 4 x 6oz bottles a day too!!!! (Oh and this is 'normal' as in when we're not growing, or teething when his apetite rockets). He also has about 4oz of cows milk at his mid-afternoon snack time (naughty but he loves it and he wouldn't take juice instead of formula) as well as some snacky-stuff at that time, plus a bit of a snack at about 10ish (normally a handful of cereal). He's agannet!!!!!!
