Morningn all,

Birthday meal was nice thanks all. I got a nice cup with 'Mummy' on and some chocolates from Chloe and a new watch from Nij. I just hope this one keeps working, for my last birthday I was bought two which both stopped working and then one at Christmas and that stopped working too, I'm jinxed! Kinda fed up with watches and hairdryers (they do it to me too!)

On another note about what that woman said to Flora, it drives me mad with people saying that babies need to be clean, yes the do but in moderation; a few germs are healthy. Plus, interestingly, my nephew had to go through messy play therapy the other year as he hated anything messy on his clothes or his hands, he was obsessive, a tiny spot and he would have to get changed or freak out about it. He is now 8 and it was all becase he didn't get to explore textures and mess when he was a baby. They let him spend time in a nursery telling him he was helping the teacher with the little children but really he was allowed to play with sand and get paint all over his hands etc. It's quite an important developmental wise so all these supa clean freak mums really aren't doing their kids any favours!

Aimee: Well done on the weight loss

Colsy: Great ebay bargain! Not tried sleep sence but will be checking out your post :)

Maffie: :hugs: I seriously feel for you about the commute. It is soul destroying and I have to be thankful I get a lift 2 days a week usually :hugs: Is there a Union at your work that you can speak to, see if they have any suggestion to take the pressure off of travelling etc? Might be worth a try? Might speed your work's response up too! :flower:

Chaos: So sorry, major major :hugs: Hope you get the best of a bad situation if that makes sence :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :flower:

Well, I'm a kinda gutted to say the least, just found out one of my Uncle's has been taken to a hospice and only had a few days left, I knew he was ill but I didn't know he was dying of cancer.

On a better note as I don't want to leave it at that, my Sis has her scan today :happydance: nervous for her! Plus, she has been referred to a specialist which I glad about because she is having a super tough time with it.

On that note, best get some work done. Also trying to hunt down a decent (sp) car seat for a decent price. Not proving easy. Wish there were better colours to choose from, I know Chloe's a girl but I really don't fancy a pink car seat for her!

I meant to say earlier about a great way we've discovered to keep a baby amused ... we were in a big camping supplies shop yesterday and they've got this wooden crate full of rolled up sleeping bags. OH popped Monty in there to see how he'd respond, and golly did he enjoy it. It was kind of like a ball-pit, only free! He cried in the end when he managed to fall down the one gap that didn't contain a sleeping bag and hence got stuck - but apart from that, I'd say it was superb value for money

Maffie- huge :hugs: I don't envy your commute- any way of getting a transfer to an office a little closer to home? (might be a stupid question- I'm sure you've researched all angles at this point)

Chaos- Hope you are doing okay and you are being well cared for- massive :hugs:

Aimee- good job on the weight loss

Kte- Sounds like you had a lovely birthday! Sorry to hear about your uncle :hugs: I hope your sister enjoys her U/S- maybe if everything looks good, it'll help set her mind at ease and lessen the panic attacks. Good luck with your car seat search- we have a small car so it was a pain finding one that fit in the backseat.

Colsy- Monty sounded cute, playing in the crate in the outdoors store :) We have a tent-style travel cot too (it's actually in the beach piccies). I've never been able to get Emma to sleep in it (surprise, surprise :haha:) but I like that she can crawl in and out of it so that when we are outdoors, she can play in the shade but still explore a bit. It also makes a good stuffed animal storage tent and our cat likes to hide in it, amongst the other "animals" :) I hope Monty's sleep improves for you too. I think Aimee tried Sleep Sense- I think there is a BnB group for it too

Well, Emma has discovered her dummy- totally random thing considering she's 9.5 mths and always hated it with a passion  It was at the bottom of a toy chest and she found it and has spent the past 2 days "plugged in" at playtime (she won't take it when upset though- totally defeating the purpose, but whatever...). Emma is also obsessed with trying to get to the stairs to practise climbing- she mastered climbing in and out of the sunken livingroom a while ago and now she's trying to venture up the stairs to the 2nd floor. We need a couple more gates in the house!

Afternoon all

Kaites we have a recruitment and transfer freeze at the moment, the joys of being a civil servant. No chance to move unless the Government suddenly get out of debt.

Well ive been looking at laptops today and its such a minefield. I just dont know what im looking for.

Noah was very cheeky today and I didnt notice at first he was leaning over and pinching what he wanted off my plate while we ate out :dohh:

Colsy I hope the sleep situation settles down for you. I'm so thankful for the good nights Noah has. They are getting more and more frequent so im a very lucky lady at the moment.

Kte glad the meal was nice, im sure ive read somewhere that the magnetic/electrical forces or something in a persons body can stop watches  (gosh I read some weird things)

As my work place has moved I am entitled to work an hour less a day to cover some travel for the first 3 months which will be good, but still means lots of hours.

I also managed to finally get hold of a community mw and have an appointment on Tuesday :happydance: The HV chased her up for me

Right time for some wonton soup I think.

Kaites: Maybe she likes them due to teething? I know Chloe uses her to chew on kind of whilst she plays.

Yey, glad you got a MW Maffie :happydance:

Found a car seat and managed to sell enough stuff on ebay to pay for it (I haven't forgot I have half outstanding for the jumperoo Maffie ) She is just busting out of her current one so can't wait, it should arrive tomorrow.

Im super happy too, Nij's parents got the message that to see Chloe they have to come here rather than us go there (long story) So, anyways, Nij dad brought over a walker, another high chair and another pram, its a Hauck one, well a stroller. So my wobbily wheel problem is now solved! :happydance: So Silvercross is now up for sale to go towards anything for Chloe (jumperoo :haha:) and I don't have to worry about the other prams wheel coming off. I just hope the straps are ok, need to see her in it, they look fine but it has a nice cosytoes thing where the straps thread through and it kinda shortens them as its a mothercare one.

Hi all, sorry i havent been on for a while, im back at work now fulltime and its really hard. George is in Nursery f/time too, i miss him like mad!! Weekends are so precious to me now, how is everyone, Maffie hows the pregnancy going, i hope everyone is well and babies are too, have i missed anything, if so can you bring me up to speed

Hi Sam, I LOVE your new George signature :) What a yummypie he is! :hugs:

Chaos, hope you're ok?

Oh dear... sorry to hear that, but I'm glad that they were able to sort it... I wish you a safe & speedy recovery :hugs:

Chaos, Get well soon, wishing you a speedy recovery :hugs: :flower: :hugs:

Thanks girls. Am sitting in bed at the moment, woke up to take my pain pills. Eee my belly is sore! I forgot to add, they also did a D&C so at least the bleeding down below has finally stopped.

I feel like I should be more sad about it you know? But I grieved for the loss of the baby 4 weeks ago when we thought it was a miscarriage ... I'm more glad it's all over and not hurting any more you know? Hope that don't make me horrible ..

It really doesn't make you horrible :hugs:

Thanks girl :hugs:

Oh! Autumn is 10 months today! :happydance:blinking nora, its gone fast.

Happy 10 Months Autumn!! Double figures already! Eek! :happydance:

Well you will never believe it ladies, I was walking down to the bus today with the 'new' pram and all of a sudden *pop* off fell the front wheel!  Seriously, I think I can now add pushchairs to my watch and hair dryer jinx list. It's fixable / bodgable but is it too much to ask for 1 fully functioning pram?!

So, the bad thing is that Monty still woke for 2 feeds last night (like he can POSSIBLY be hungry!). The good thing is he then went back to sleep until 6.40am, which is a positive lie-in for us these days.

I do wonder quite frequently what the difference is between those babies that wake a lot and those that sleep through almost from day 1. I used to think it was BF versus FF, but I no longer think this is the only difference. True, in generally, FFers tend to sleep slightly better at night than BFers, but I still know BFers who sleep through and I still know FFers who have absolutely dreadful nights still. Plus then I also know some older toddlers who are now neither BF nor FF and are still crap sleepers. So is it something in the child, or is it something the parents do differently? I guess we'll never know. It's like the elusive Holy Grail that is the cause and treatment of colic - just like many of us would give big medals to the researcher who discovers how to treat colic overnight, so I think many people would also give a big gold star to the researcher who finds the one guaranteed way to get a baby to sleep through.

What's up for the weekend, anyway? We've got a biggie coming up ... our Wakes Week starts tomorrow, with the village carnival. OH has been building the pub float for much of the week, although he isn't actually on it this year, as he was last year. Sunday it's the blessing of the wells, Monday it's the street fair (if Monty can stay up that late, LOL), and then generally loads of stuff going on all week. OH's family are up for the weekend, and then my mum arrives either Sun or Mon.

Morning all

Noah seems to of moved getting up to an hour earlier  I dont mind as he's sleeping well. He's sleeping much better now he's facing a different way in the cot

No weekend plans yet, I feel like this week has just whizzed by trying to sort work, MW, HV and everything else.

No plans again, cleaning. Third week in a row. Hurray *sigh* Also, trying to contact Nij's parents to see if/when they want to come over as well as waiting in for people to collect items I sold from ebay. What little money we had to do anything with has now gone on a new header tank that went yesterday, forgot to say earlier. We were rescued by the AA as we broke down on the way home. Whilst we were waiting I found out how challenging it is to change a dirty nappy in the car! Chloe was not impressed! Ah well, spending time with my little cheeky chops will be good though :)
