Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

So OH has gone to work and Tommy is sleeping, his washing is in the machine, kitchens clean, dishwasher on, room tidy and i am LOST
lol hmm, iv crawled back into bed with my laptop....think i may have a nap
or pop down the high street later?
going out still scares me tho coz im BFing, i try n go out just after a feed but i get rlly worried hes gonna decide hes hungry 1/2 hr later neway. If it comes to it ill just hav to feed him but =S =S =S
hmmmm
nothing on tv =[
hope every1s doing well xxx

Kris, I am exactly the same. I only live 5 minutes walk from my nearest high street, but I still worry Harry will wake up, start screaming & want feeding & I wont be able to sort him out till I'm back home again...
I have a real issue about breastfeeding in public- I'm just not brave enough to whack my boob out for all to see & start feding him in front of people like that. Even at home, I only feed in front of my OH, my sister (we shared a room for 8 years, so she's seene evrything anyway, lol) & my own mum; if anyone else is at ours, I go through to the spare room & use my breastfeeding chair instead for some privacy, lol.

It's so weird being on your own with the baby isn't it??? Once Harry is asleep, and I've done the usual daily chores around the house, I feel a bit lost!!!

Morning ladies & babies!

Hope everyone is doing well :)

Romilly had her hearing test this morning, and she passed with flying colours :D I had some major stress getting there, but all worth it to be told that her hearing is perfect :)

I got her some Sock-ons yesterday, and oh they are wonderful! She's not always in socks, but when she is, because her feet are long and skinny, they are a nightmare to keep on! I will highly recommend sock-ons to anyone  I managed to avoid spending a small fortune on pretty Christmas outfits in Mothercare... I can't really justify £15 on a "Mummy's Little Pudding" sleepsuit that she will wear probably once or twice

My DH goes back to work for a week on Monday. He was originally going to have 4 weeks off in a block, but the only time his parents could get time off to come up and see us was the 1st week of November. So hubby is going in next week, then taking the week after off so he's around while his folks are up. I'm dreading it, but I'm trying to think of the week as a test for when he goes back for real in 2 weeks time.

Right, off to find some food! Have a good day everyone! :D

Im really lucky with my OH he works evenings so he's here all day :)

I know its a long way off but im really bricking it about going back to work in April - i earn twice the amount OH does so we cant afford me not to go back. I just know when it comes round i wont want to go back.

Had a more settled night last night - still up every 2-3 hours for a 2oz feed but at least he was going back down after his feed not whinging every time i put him down like the 2 nights before.

Flora & Kris - Ive been out loads of places with sam, but then im not BF so i can see why you're worried. BF really wasnt for me for lots of reasons but i wouldnt be able to whip me boobs out in public either lol He went to his first school play at 4 days old, Chloe was well happy to show him off to her school friends - he slept through the whole thing!

Eala what are Sock-ons? ive never heard of them, Sams got really big feet, he was in first size babygros from asda but i had to move him to newborn even though they're too big purely because his feet were too big for the first size ones. My auntie bought some socks from baby gap and they fit him but dunno what size they are!

I got mine in Mothercare :) On the website they've got ones that look like little trainers, but I just got the plain ones. They are working *so* well, I'm really chuffed. Now someone needs to come up with something that does the same for scratch mitts

Mite have to try these too; Harry has very long toes (and fingers) for such a diddy baby & keeping socks on him is so hard as they're all too big for his ankles & too short for his toes. (seriously, my OH calls him Monkey Foot coz he literally can grip a pen with his toes curled round it, lol)

Hiya girls and babies

Well Sienna is a little star.. We had our 1st HV home-visit yesterday and she was weighed... So at birth she was around 7lb (will never know for sure due to the twit MW) at day 5 she was 6lb 11oz and yesterday at 13 days she was a HUGE 7lb 4oz :) she is such a clever little girl :smug: It makes me feel less guilty about quitting the BF'ing as it shows she is thriving.
We also had to goto the hospital for her paediatric assessment and she passed that with flying colours... She also gave the paediatrician a little present

Well my lovely ladies i am off for some toast and coffee as we are going to have a walk into town today.... xx Lots of hugs xx

baby.love - That's fab that Sienna has put weight on so well - clever girl! :hugs:

Florabean - sounds like you have the same problem with Harry as I did with Romilly for socks. She's got looong feet (she's out of newborn shoes already!) but little skinny ankles. Randomly, the best fitting socks I've found so far are Tesco ones - pack of 5 for £2.50! They would pretty much stay on without sock-ons, unless she really wriggled. Any other socks were a lost cause though

Hi Ladies, wow, didnt see this thread, im so glad we have it, we have all gone through so much together xxx Hope everyone is well, George is doing really well too, hes putting weight on and hes 3 weeks today, were has the time gone!!!, right must dash, George needs his bottle xxxxxxx take care xxxxxxxx

just had a visit from the health visitor, even though Harry is still under midwife care until monday, lol. She's on hol next week, so came today instead... andyways, she weight Harry & FINALLY he's above his birth weight! He's now just the tiniest smidge under 6lbs 12oz, so I'm really pleased; seems my round the clock feeding every 3 hours has worked & at last I feel like I can relax a bit. His length is still the same & his head is now 7mm bigger than it was at birth, so all in all I'm pleased for him. Still have to see the mjidwife on monday & so long as Harry has maintained the weight gain (or preferably gianed even more) they will discharge him :) :happydance:

On a sad note, my nephews nanny (his dad's mum, who had terminal cancer) passed away yesterday morning. My poor sister was so upset coz apparently, after thwey went to the hospital on sunday, his nanny said, "I can go now that I've seen all my grandchildren.' Joshy didn't understand & said, 'but I'll see her when she wakes up wont i?' and my sister had to explain that it's the same with people as it is with his fish & his hamster when they died.... bless him, he's only 5 & his reply was , 'so she'll be in fishy heaven then?' that was pretty much all he understood. He didn't want to go to school today & screamed the whole was there, but once he was with his friends, he seemed fine... poor liitle soul. i bought him some halloween chocolate froggies to cheer him up & sent them back with my sis to give to him when school finishes. All i can say is thankgod kids are tougher than they look...

hiya didnt even know this was here! lol

I cant belive my lil fatman is 10lb8oz! he put 9oz in a week lol! Im feeling really low today, just want to cry over everything! no idea why =[ just so lonley when its just me, DD and dexter. Not one adult convo ALL day! then OH comes home at lunch and has ago because i havent done the washing up! i really CBA tbh, just want to crawl back to bed =[. Still havent got Dexter registared because i need to go coventry and havent made an appointment yet! made one for leicester but they said there would no point doing it because of postal strike i might not get it till after xmas!?! ohwell...

Hi girls and bumpkins! Just found this thread. Midwife finally came to see us for his 10 day check at 5.30pm! However I'm so pleased cos he has put on lots of weight. He was 6lb 13oz at birth, 6lb 11oz at day 5 and he is now 7lb 1oz! Put on 6ozs in 5 days little piggy. Midwife was happy to discharge him but not me as my episiotomy is gaping slightly so she wants to check it again on Tuesday. Glad that everyone is doing so well.

Just found this - great to know we are keeping things going. Hope all well with everyone and their LO's. We are doing good but also having problem overnight whereby when I put her in bed after a feed she is unsettled for ages. She is a very windy baby which is causing problems as well.

Oh, mornin' girls! How are we all finding mummyhood?

Autumn turned 3 weeks on Wednesday .. has gone from 8lb 1oz to 9lb 2oz. She's doing good thru the night, every 3 or 4 hours and goes right back to sleep after a feed. Let me tell you, vibrating bassinets are a GODSEND! haha.

I got family here at the moment from England until the 1st so things are kind hectic. Am taking them up the mountains today to look at the Autumn leaf colour change.

aww, glad to hear Autumn is doing so well, and also everyone else's babies. :)

my boobies ache like crazy today coz of the cold... anyone else find that? OH is working away at the moment, so I've turned the heating on, lol! He will never know, haha! It's so weird looking after Harry on my own; he's been great, but still, after just 2 days on my own, I have soooooo much respect for all the single mummies out there; it's really tough! Can't wait till monday early hours when OH gets back. It's also his birthday and the day we go into town to register our intent to marry & then go sort our mortgage out, lol. (probably not how he wanted to spend his b'day, but oh well, it's all for the greater good of our future I figure, so he can lump it!)

anyways, hope everyone is fabulous & healthy & happy. Take care ladies! xxx

PS. Leah, Jadesh had her baby Keira on 5th sept, not 5th oct. Other than that, the list looks great :)
