Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Maffie - If I get a full blown one I'm out of action for 2 or 3 days. Completely lose the feeling and use in my left hand side. Slur my speech. Bounce off the walls if I try to walk lol. Luckily I am not sick but I feel dreadfully sick.

LK & Maffie, god i am so glad i dont suffer from migraines having just read how you 2 get them! that's insane; i feel for you both...

Harry & I just got soaked in the rain comin back from morrisons. damn weather. After having an 'attatched to boobie' day yesterday, he slept well last night (12-7!!!) but had been awake since then, grrrr. eventually managed to get dressed & despite looking rough, went for a little walk & to morrisons for chocolate, lol, and within minutes he was soundo & still is! i've left him in the pram by the door coz i'm afraid he'll wake up again :dohh:

anyways... how is everyone? :)

Evening all,

I also feel for you migrane sufferes. My Mum and Sis both suffer from them but I feel I am lucky as don't seem to have followed in their footsteps.

Flora ~ hope you dry out soon.

Well I think I have started my period and I popped a post in postnatal support about starting the pill again. I have a few spare and am thinking of taking them until I get get to the docs this next week ~ do you think its a big mistake and I should wait? I think I have to start taking them today. The more I sit at home alone the more I feel I have stupid ideas in my head and doubt myself.

Missing OH at the mo, he is off visiting his dad. I really wanted to watch a good film but there is nothing on!

x

Kte: i have no idea when it comes to contraception, lol. Before getting pregnant, I'd been on the pill for 9 years straight, mostly wihtout breaks for periods (hate them, lol, and besides, they were a nightmare when I was still competing & wearing un-sexy leotards & stuff, so it was just easier!) so I'm clueless as to what's best when it comes to birth control. Besides, the idea of sexytime with OH atm makes me cringe- I feel so skanky most days, hehe!

It probably would be ok, but it's probably best to wait till you can see a GP or family planning person about it...

Kte - I think it is probably best to either wait until you have your check or can get to a family planning clinic. I'm sure it wouldnt do any harm to start taking them but you may find you react differently to them. The leaflet I got from my gp about contraception says you can start using the pill from 3 weeks postpartum.

If you're breast feeding I'd wait till you see the DR, because certain pills cause the milk to dry up. My OB has kept me off the pill until my next check in March as I'm having supply problems as it is, he said to use condoms for now.

Thanks :flower:

Your right, I'll wait and get an appoint first thing Monday. It will prob being okay but knowing my luck I would react differently or funny!

Chaos ~ I'm not breastfeeding anymore otherwise I would have looked at other types of contraception.

Thanks again ladies :hugs:

Ive not heard about pills making you dry up??? I have seen my doctor and she's prescribed me the same pill as I was on when I fell pregnant (cerazette) Makes me wonder whether I should have a read up.

Kte if you start a pill half way through a cycle it just means you aren't protected for 2 weeks as GP said I could start anytime would would need to use condoms for 2 weeks.

Maffie - Cerazette is progesterone only pill which is ok when breast-feeding. The combined pill is the one that causes problems and the Dr will not prescribe any when you're BFing. (I was on cerazette prior to gettine pregnant as it's supposed to be less 'intrusive' on the body and only takes 24 hours to be out of your system.....made me feel dreadful though!!)

Phew...what a day! I'm shattered. MIL and SIL came for the afternoon....got here at 1.30ish and didn't go until 5 so we had a nice afternoon and they brought cake!! They also brought some christmas clothes for Earl...no idea when he'll get to wear them all though as there is about a weeks worth of clothes lol. He also did the biggest grin for them but no-one had a camera ready. Also another in the bath tonight. This morning was definitely not a fluke! I'm so pleased and proud as punch!! :happydance:

Anyhoos I'm off to bed soon (I know it's only half past 8 but you know, Earl's in bed and you've got make hay etc etc! lol) so I'll be back on tomorrow....

Hope everyone is ok xx:hugs:

Good evening (it's dark here, so I guess I'll call it evening, lol)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend- I had a slummy day. OH is getting sick so looks like I have 2 babies now. Spent the day in PJs, keeping the baby away from the basement (a.k.a man cave). Emma is getting grumpy so I hope she's not getting sick too. I've let her use the boobie as a pacifier today- BM's got antibodies so here's hoping I've got what it takes to kick whatever it is that hubby's got!

Flora- bum rash has cleared since going totally cloth, thanks. I don't know if it's just coincidence but it's cool with me to be in cloth. I'd always planned to do some cloth and now hubby can't give me grief about it :) I laughed at your comment about all the FB pics- glad to hear I'm not the only one documenting every smile/outfit/milestone for all to see- whether they like it or not :) Great to see Harry let you sleep last night too.

Aimee-lou- great smile on Earl- he looks like such a happy baby in the pic. Glad to hear he's been giving you repeat performances :)

Maffie- my doc put me on micronor, another progesterone-only pill, and she knows that we are exclusively BFing too. I've had the packs at home for about 4 weeks, but only just started taking them a few days ago. I'm worried about my milk supply too but haven't noticed a change yet and I've heard they can make babies fussy- I suppose a fussy baby is better than 2 fussy babies under yr old tho :)

Well, enough one handed typing- my arm is getting sore from holding up a sleeping babe! Nighty night! :)

Evenin' girls,

Well the generic nappies/formula are going well *touch wood* and SO much cheaper!!!

She did SO well last night. Had a bottle at 7pm, was bath'd and in bed by 930 and she slept all the way to 530am. The only reason she actually woke up was because I annoyed her by sticking my finger under her nose to make sure she was still breathing lol. This long sleep is awesome, but also worries me half to death!!

Flora ~ No saddo camera addict! I'm the same. Its good to take lots of pictures, they change SO quickly!
Re the Medela pumps, check out Ebay or Craigslist, you can get some really discounted ones on there. (If you're not fussy about 2nd hand)

Maffie ~ I feel you on migraines, they blow. I had one the other night so bad I thought I was going to throw up. Thank God for codine! Hope you're feeling better.

Aimee ~ Aww what an awesome picture!

Kte ~ Murphy does that! If I plop my bowl in the sink in the morning I have to make sure I tip the milk out or put washing up liquid in it or he's up there drinking it!! It drives me insane.
The other night I made a bacon sarnie, left the frying pan on the stove for the drippings to go solid so I could collect them up. I came down in the morning and there were little cat lick patterns all in the solid drippings!! :dohh:

Kaites
~ Hope the hubby gets better soon and don't pass it on to you and kiddo!

We went for a walk around the next down over to us tonight as they were having Christmas festival type things going on. BLOODY freezing!!!! It was -4 C out there. The state above us has 4 inches of snow at the moment. I'm hoping we get a bit so Autumn can see her first snow.

She didn't mind being out in it tonight, she just adores being outside. She was well wrapped up and nice and snug. She kept sticking her tongue out and licking her lips like she was tasting the night air lol. Needless to say she passed right out when we got home!

Ok it's past my bed time. Night night!

Morning all

Chaos sounds like Autumn enjoyed herself while out, she looks adorable. Im always checkin Noah is breathing when he's being good and sleeping well.

Well Noah fed at 10.30 and slept through till 3am, gosh my boobs felt full him missing his am feed. He went straight back to sleep but I coulldn't as OH's boys are here and the youngest kept shouting for his daddy.

Noah has just demolished another feed and is snuggled up on me. When he settles I think its sausage sandwich time

Chaos.....I did the same thing tonight! Earl went down at 7pm as normal. I had expected him to be up about 1ish as this was what he did the night before. I went to sleep and woke up with a start. It was 5.30!!!! He had slept right through. Well, you've never seen me shoot out of a bed so quickly (I'm normally a bed hog!). I went in, put my ear to him to see if he was breathing and he let out a little moan....I nearly picked him up and hugged him!! :happydance: I went back to bed and about 20 minutes later he stared his pre-cries (normally a signal you've got about 10 minutes to get his feed sorted etc before he's screaming the house down lol). I fed him, re-swaddled him and he's gone back down no-problem! I however, am wide awake (not used to a full 7 hours sleep! lol) so I'm waiting til 7am to make hubby breakfast - and hoping that Earl will stay asleep until I've got that done. He was wide awake at 7.30 yesterday lol.

Do we think that was a fluke? He's only 6 weeks tomorrow!!! Never expected that in a million years! I think he had a bit of a busy day with our visitors so I don't think I can expect the same treat tonight! :dohh:

Wow well done Autumn and Earl! James went a bit loopy last night. He normally feeds at around 10pm and then sleeps til 3.30am and then back til 8.30am. Last night he fed at midnight, 3.15am, 6.30am...gah! I'm shattered. Managed to get back to bed from 8.30am to 10am. Could really have done with more sleep last night cos OH's aunt and uncle are down from Scotland and they are coming over with OH's parents. And OH is at work!

Littlekitten - I hope that your day goes ok with all those people coming over!

I feel a little sad ladies....I've just had to pack away all of Earl's Newborn/0-3month clothes and all the excess size 1 & 2 nappies! They're in pampers boxes so I'll be able to recognise them when I need to get them out again- At least we have everything we need now lol.

He's officially in his 3-6's now and he doesn't half look cute as they are proper boy ones rather than unisex ones.......it's sad though as he's officially not 'little' anymore despite only being six weeks!

aimeelou - I packed away all of James's tiny baby (god I had forgotten how tiny he was) and newborn clothes. He is huge compared to how big he was when he was born yet he doesnt seem that big to me lol. I guess its cos we are around them all the time we dont notice how much they grow every day! Everytime mum sees him she is shocked by how much he has grown lol.

Mornin'!!

Weeeeeee sleep! Someone slept from 1030pm to 730am!! I think that night air must have done her good lol. Of course her nappy felt like it had 17 lts of fluid in it this morning lol.

Maffie ~ OMG I miss a good ol Richmond sausage sandwich. They don't have sausages here like we have back home. Sausages here are basically bratwursts and they SUCK. :(

Aimee ~ Urgh don't you hate the "on awake heart attacks" they give us lol. Nah I don't think it's a fluke ... it was a bout six weeks when Autumn started sleeping longer. Looks like hes getting his little night time routine sorted out :)

Who would have thought that 6 weeks ago when we were praying for them to sleep longer than 1.5 hours in the night, we'd all be here bouncing up and down at thru the nights sleeps. Didn't it seem like it'd be an eternity till that happened?

Aimee / LK ~ Wow your boys must have long legs to be in 3-6 clothes, Or Autumn is just a short arse haha. She's still in a few of her newborn sleep suits! She's just starting to fit in to 0-3 months clothes and they are still about 1 to 2 inches too long on the legs and about an inch too long on the arms and you could fit 2 of her in the body part haha. But saying that when she was born her newborn stuff looked the same on her lol. Now she fills it out nicely! I aint worried really tho as she's in the 50/75 % for her age. Send those grow bags over here!! :)

Ok whilst she is occupied on the play mat Ima gonna grab some rice crispies!!

I am very jealous to hear about all these good babies sleeping through the night and letting their mummies get some well earned rest! Rachel keeping us on our toes with evening colic - doc says it very rarely goes beyond 14 weeks so we are getting there!!!

well, I've had a hellish day with Harry- he has lierealy spent the whole day screaming- the only times he's been quiet were when he was feeding from me, but then he started to refuse that too, as he was full up. I've been an emotional wreck trying to calm him down... My sister came round to give me a break & cooked a roast for us & took Harry while we ate, then OH took over after that so I could do some housework... In the end, we gave him 4oz of ebm, then he screamed even more.... Figured the only thing it could be is trapped wind & not pooing for about 30 hours or so... We've just spent the last hour massaging his tummy, bicycling his legs, shhhh-shing him etc to get him to relax & stuff, then offered him boobie again, which he took & 5 mins later, he was sound asleep on me... He still hasn't poo'd though, so I'm a bit concerned as he does seem in pain. He had some calpol & some gripe water earlier this evening but it didnt seem to help him at all; he's been proper squirming, like he's in pain, crying tears & everything. I felt so helpless... He's done 3 little farts since being asleep, but that's it... I really hope he's better after a sleep... I hate seeing him like this as he's usually so content & smiley.

On a good note, we've had 3 nights of really great sleep- dare I say, I believe he's now sleeping through the night?! (not expecting a good night tonight, but oh well) He also turned 2 months old today & we made it to our 2 month BFing milestone, so yay us, lol.

Better go; I'm drained after today.
Hope you've all had good weekends. :)

:hugs: Flora - sorry you had a bad day with Harry. Earl is a bit blocked up at the moment too - despite giving an extra 2oz of water yesterday, still nothing since Saturday. I wouldn't even mind an explosive nappy, as long as he's comfy. I hope Harry feels better soon - daft question maybe but could it be teething pain?

Chaos - Saturday night must have been a fluke as we were back to normal last night. Down at 7.30, awake at 1.30 and 6.30 wake up. He's back to sleep now as he just wouldn't go down again at 6.30 so has tired himself out already! :dohh:

I've got to join the madding crowds today and order Hubby's xmas pressie. I'm going into town with Earl on Firday to get the last few bits for him (he wants juggling balls and a few other stocking fillers - such a boy! lol) but you can't get his main pressie in town. I'm going to get him a 'Kevin' cuddly toy from 'Up'. He loves that bird!! :dohh:

Oh, best be off.....cranky pants is awake again! Have a good day girls xx
