Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

:hi: Hello girls .. Crickey its been a while!

Sorry for not being about so much anymore, but life with this lot is hectic!
Things are fab here.... Sienna sleeps 9 hours straight every night now followed by another 2-3 hours :) So its falling well and meaning she is going right through when we sleep. Ethan is amazing as always... it was his 4th birthday yesterday :cloud9: .... and as for me!!! well i am back to being scatty old Leah! Got myself a new piercing last week (lip) and getting my Monroe piercing done saturday coming :D ... I am a bit of an Emo at heart

Anyway i hope you are all well.... I gotta dash as waiting for news from my sister who is currently in labour :yipee: Catch you all soon xxxx

Leah how exciting. Hope its a quick and easy labour for her.

I apologise in advance for the moaning I will probably end up doing today lol. I am now on a clear liquid only diet until after my sigmoidoscopy tomorrow. Have to drink this foul stuff all day today. 1 litre between 11 and 1. And another litre between 6 and 7. Yay. And between that I am allowed to drink squash, black tea or coffee, water or clear fizzy drinks. Thank goodness OH is off today cos he is going to look after James as I will be feeling rough as a dog in a few hours.

On an up note...finally got a pic of James smiling this morning! :) Will post it later. And got some video of him on his tummy on daddy...he was pushing himself up with his legs so it looked like he was going mountain climbing over daddy hehe. Hes now in his chair so mummy can go have a shower as daddy has gone to play golf this morning.

LK hope the sigmoidoscopy goes ok for you, I can sympathize as I had a colonoscopy a few years back.

Leah hope your sisters labour goes quickly and smoothly.

We had a proper smile off Noah this morning, we were pulling face in the bath, he does love the water cant wait to start taking him swimming.

Ok here is a picture of James smiling as promised. And a picture of him having tummy time.

Morning all,

Chaos ~ Hope things went well at the hearing

Florabean ~ Good news about the house move, hope it all goes smoothly!

LK~ mine came on suddenly too and different to normal, defo lighter this time, my knees normally ache so bad but nothing this time and I get all spotty but nope (thankfully - hope that one keeps up!)

:hugs: about not eating solids, sigmoidoscopy goes well.

Colsy ~ when Chloe doesn't selttle for me, also between 6-11pm, she can take about 3 hrs to go to sleep. I feed her and she falls asleep but as soon as I pop her in the moses basket she is either grizziling or straight into full blown cry. I make sure she is extra winded. Sometimes she thinks she is still hungry so I try and rub her tummy or I give her a dummy to suck on whilst I stoke her cheek. Sometimes I 'shhhh' her or sing her a little song I made up. Othertimes I feed her a little bit whilst she is in the basket and take the bottle out but it's risky if she gets wind again! I don't like to give in and feed her as usually she has just eaten and sicks it all back up again, then I do need to feed her again as her tummy is empty! Othertimes I have a wedge type thing that I pop under the mattress to help her if wind is bothering and that sometimes helps but not all the time! I take it out mostly and only use it when she is extra windy. If all else fails I let her have a nice cuddle and pop her in when she has settled and hope she doesn't wake up again!

Kaites ~ She cried her eyes out at Santa! She loves being held by people but she decided she was hungry whilst in the grotto so poor Santa got the brunt . . . and we had left her bag in the car so OH had to run to get it! She loved all the sparkly paper and lights in there!

Hope Emma feels better soon. The Grinch outfit sounds cute!

Aimee~ don't forget Chloe's! It seems modern but I was geeky and look what I found :
The name Chloe has the following meaning:

Young green shoot in Greek. It first appears in the Bible, and was a well-known name in literature. An example would be the tale of Daphnis and Chloe. It has steadily been gaining the favour in England and other English-speaking countries.

jo_79 ~ Like the Metallica baby vest! Chloe has one too and the same changing mat!

Baby.Love ~ congrats on being a pending aunt! Hope everything goes well for your Sister.

Well, I am sure Chloe will want some food, I fancy a cuppa so whats the bets! At least she has lasted more than 2 hours today! We off to see OH's dad later as he was sent home yesterday :D

Have a good day all x

Awful night. Monty has barely stopped for breath since about 3pm yesterday. His "colic" (the inverted commas there are intentional) kicked in early afternoon and it hasn't really gone away since. He cries for food but doesn't take much once he's latched on. He's had a mix of diarrhoea and constipation. When he does poo, it's often with a heart-wrenching screech. As for sleep ... well let's just say he writhed around most of the night in our bed (he doesn't usually sleep with us, but there was no way he was going to sleep in his hammock), and I got about an hour's sleep as I was frightened in general and also that I might squash him. The thing is, there's nothing specific to suggest he needs to see the doctor, and we're a bit nervous of being labelled neurotic parents if we do take him in. I don't want us to get a reputation for fussing over nothing, because one day there may then be a REAL problem and the doctor might just ignore it, thinking we're fussing again. OH has now taken Monty out for a walk in the sling. He was soooo sleepy, but fighting it, and he's just got this adorable little look on his face that makes me cry each time I look at him - it's just so sad, as he looks almost "depressed", if a baby can look depressed.

Colsy - Hun please don't worry about taking him to the drs. If your poor little man is in that much pain then they have to do something about it.

Colsy - first off, much needed hugs from me! Get him to the Dr's. If nothing else it will rule out anything medical and they can get you referals to anything that might be needed. I'm sure that he's not 'depressed' but all these unsettled nights can't be any fun for any of you and he's bound to feed off you if you're feeling bad. I'm sorry to hear about Monty but I'm sure that with you as a Mummy he will be fine. Sorry I can't be of any help :hugs:

Littlekitten - Hope the 'oscopy' goes well. Promise yourself a slap up meal afterwards :flower:

Kte - sorry I forgot Chloe.....I've always loved that name as it's so dainty and feminine! I did try to get everyone  Didn't know it was biblical though  I was trying to show tht we've none of us tried to be unique for the sake of it. I read an article about some babies have been christened 'Unique'.....but doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose!?:dohh:

We had a good night last night....slept 7.30 (we were running late as Mummy forgot to put the hot water on :dohh:) until 4.30, then until 8am  I've had to ask him to stop growing though as he is rapidly running out of clothes and we can't afford any more until the new year really......hoping santa will be generous lol :dohh:

bestbe off ladies....time for his lunch soon

Colsy - first off, much needed hugs from me!

Thanks :)

Well done, Earl, for sleeping so well. Made me laugh that you're running out of clothes. He's a right grower, isn't he? He's younger but bigger than Monty, and Monty's quite a porker at the moment;-) (Even when he's unwell or screaming the house down, he still eats ... hmmm, a bit like his mother then!)

Earl is a grower .... I'm a bit worried as some people have said that Dr's don't like them to grow that quickly but I can't refuse him food or stop him growing!! I really should measure him as here they don't! I dread to think! But he's got really big feet and hubby is 6 ft 2 so he's not going to be small! He's got a lot of growing still to do! - and if that meand that at 2 months old I'm having to buy 6 -9month clothes then I guess we'll just have to go shopping.....drat! lol

BTW - Eala is the best person to speak to about Windypops....I think she put Romilly on it early on and she praises it very highly indeed! Maybe PM her?

Colsy :hugs: Noah does the most heart wrenching sad face, full bottom lip stuck out in a sad sulk. Forget what the doctors might think you are mum and you know best if you think he needs the drs then take him.

OH back from walk with Monty, and Monty is now fast asleep in his crib in the kitchen. Catching up on what he missed last night I should think. Until he wakes again, we can't decide whether to go to doctor. Will see how he is when he wakes up later this afternoon.

On a different note, have any of you used a Symphony in Motion mobile? Gowri Motha and Jools Oliver both rave about them in their books, and I read a few NetMums reviews that were saying the mobile is just amazing. Be interested to know what any of you think, as these mobiles are way more expensive than the usual Fisher Price sort of thing that lots of people have.

Its okay aimee, i was being cheeky :D I know what you mean about 'unique' names!

Well I'm very impressed with my non-moaniness lol. Asides from the having to force down this foul salty lemony stuff its not been that bad. Obviously I'm very hungry but me and OH have been laughing our way through the unpleasant side effects hehe.

James has had his 1st jabs today. Daddy had to take him cos I was still chained to the toilet. Aparantly he screamed the place down :( He is not very happy this evening which is heartbreaking cos I can't do anything to help him. Least of all cos I have now started my 2nd lot of Moviprep. Gross.

My brother has crohns and he always says he'd never have that liquid again its comfier and quicker to have an enema when he gets to the hospital.

Well just had sausage and mash, was scrummy cant believe I managed to cook. Poor Noah is upset he needs to poo.

Maffie I really wish I had been given the option. If I have to have another one I will certainly be requesting it. Can't go through this again. It's horrific. Makes you feel all weak and tired and just plain crap.

Hope everyone is okay out there today! Can't believe how quiet it is!

Well I was attempting to get into town and buy OH's Christmas present, it's such a lovely looking day out there but I just haven't made it out yet. I am sporting baby sick on my clothes now and it took me forever to get in them this morning so I will wait for OH to return home.

Afternoon ladies -

Kte - I know what you mean about never quite getting out. We'll go for our walk as soon as Earl wakes up from his nap, but until then I'm just pottering around.

Little-kitten - hope it all goes well.

It was a very strange night ladies...I would appreciate your comments and thoughts.

I think I'm coming down with a cold too so I'm great today lol. :dohh:

Hope we're all ok :flower:

Afternoon All...

Only a little time for a quick catch up...

Colsy ~ My little madam is taking some settling until we get to bed... LOL would rather have her awake during the day anyway, means more smiles for me! She falls asleep on the boob sometimes too, when put into moses basket she'll start to cry, wind her and feed her some more and the try to put her down and magic zzzzz's... She's like that most of the evening, last feed about 12.30 ish, and the next couple can be any time... Then it's feed and bed, she zzz's right away...

Anyway, SIL is still in hospital MIL is still here; looks like I've got OH & my Family here for Christmas... The more the merrier! Sounds like it's time for a good old fashioned Christmas, plenty of food and drink; quality time with the people we love and a few gifts... Sounds good to me...

OH has just left for a job interview, I've my fingers well and truely crossed... Catch you soon babe awakes and MIL is just having a few zzz's...
