Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Morning all, hope the shopping trip goes well aimee.

Well I have a stinking cold and Noah is very upset today so think he's coming down with it. He just wont stop crying. He's guzzling the milk back too.

Sorry to hear you guys have been having a bit of a time of it. James wasn't too bad last night. He fed at 7.30pm and then went to sleep til 1am. Then went back to sleep til 6am. So all in all not bad. He had another feed at 9.30am and a little play on his mat where he is now falling asleep having just tapped the apple on his arch hehe. Obviously it wore him out.

Morning All...

Hope you're all well, sorry to hear about those of you who've come down with cold; hope you feel so much better soon...

SIL didn't manage to be let out, so I've still got MIL here... Oh well needs must...

CC is sleeping, we're off to the hospital, My dad is gonna look after CC whilst we're there... Expressing milk...

Houseworks nearly done, gonna prep a stew for tea, and do the ironing after tea tonight...

Catch you all later

xxxx

Afternoon all,

Having a rest day today althought there are pots and clothes to be done. Chloe wasn't a happy little girl last night and it took me a while to settle her down. She also seems to be struggling to fill her nappy. If its not wind I haven't managed to get up she tries to go and that wakes her up, crying too :nope: OH had to sleep downstairs. Well I have discovered that it is a good time of year to be on maternity leave, at least we can have cuddle time whist watching all these cheesy Christmas movies!

We took Chloe to see Santa yesterday, yep she is a tad young but it was for a keepsake for when she is older and can look back on. I'm a little miffed at OH as he been desperate to take her to see a Santa for ages (more excited than me) and now I see him moaning on facebook that it cost £5 to see him and £4 for a pic. It drives me mad when he does that, says one thing to me and then another to other people, he didn't have to do it!!

Eswift ~ sorry to hear your SIL is still in hospital. Sounds like you have your hands full :hugs:

Hope everyone who is ill and whose LO's are out of sorts feel much better soon :flower:

Right, back off for a cuddle :)

aimee-lou, you know what, i hadnt even remotely considered the possibility of teething pains! :dohh: i think i' gonna have to do some teething research now, lol, just in case, coz he's probably old enough now to be getting the starting pains for that.

harry, despite the awful day yesterday, managed to sleep for 6hours straight during the night, them woke himself up just before 7am farting! he was writhing around, screaming & letting out enormous farts, so i'm thinking that was what was causing him the pains... i fed him, then rubbed his tummy for almost an hour; he fell asleep after that & woke up again at 10am... he just did a teeny little bit of poo, and screamed then aswell, but since then, he's just having a cuddle n seems a bit better in himself; hope it lasts!

:hugs: to all of you who have colds or lo's with wind/poop issues. sucks when they're upset...

anyways, better feed my lil man before he gets worked up again... oooh, and aimee-lou, i think harry might be turning into a red head, lol, as each time he's had his hair washed, it's getting more n more ginger; ha, serves my oh right for saying he didnt want a ginger kid! (we have red heads on both sides of our family, so was kinda expecting it tbh). he's currently sporting a strawberry dark blonde/light brown look!

are any of you buying xmas outfits for your lo's?

I wish Chloe was changing to a red head lol!

We have been given 2 Christmas outfits for Chloe, hope she still fits in them but the time it comes!

Mornin' Girls,

Just poking my head in quick, will catch up later. We're just off to court for our bankruptcy hearing. The stupid place is 70 miles away. Gah. Ah well, am quite nervous about it, let hope all is in place for it!

Ok girls, have a great day!

Well Noah is finally asleep on me, poor thing seems out of sorts.

Noah has 2 Christmas baby gros, one in white and one is red, they have santa and rudolf on I think. Will take pics later.

I want to get James a christmas outfit. I know its cruel but he would make a very cute reindeer hehe. Going to go buy it on Wednesday after I'm done at the hospital. And then a friend is babysitting for us so we can finally go see New Moon! I'm so excited.

I'm quite shocked atm. Didn't realise how much having a baby would affect my periods! Finally got it this morning and didn't get any of the normal warning. Normally have a good 12 hours of excruciating back pain before it arrives and then that pain continues for the 6 days that I'm on my period. Had about 5 minutes of slight back ache before it arrived and its very light and the pain hasn't gotten any worse. Even though I'm loving it, it hasn't entirely gotten rid of the worry that I had from our little accident 2 weeks ago, cos this is sooooo much lighter than normal.

awww, the outfits sound cute :) OH got harry an elf outfit, complete with a hat with a bell on it, lol. it's huge tho, so it'll swamp him unless he grows about another 5inches, haha. i got him a red tee from asda which just says my 1st christmas on it.

how are you getting on with crimbo shopping? i've done bout half mine so far. not too bad i suppose.

chaos, good luck with court!

we've got solicitors tomorrow to sign some stuff, and get a date for the exchange of contracts on the house, so it looks like we should be moved in before xmas

Hi girls, my question of the day is about daytime naps and trying to work out bedtime stuff. Have a look if you're interested.

Can I ask you all something? I know I often read posts on here saying baby took ages to settle. Well, most of the time, I tend to BF Monty when he wakes in the night and then put him straight back in his hammock after he's BF and had a nappy change. Usually, unless Monty has still got colic in the middle of the night, he pretty much goes back to sleep no problem - but that's usually helped by the fact that he falls asleep on the breast almost every single time. So those of you who struggle to get baby to settle - is it that baby is crying or do you just mean baby won't close eyes and go to sleep or what? The reason I ask is because the past two nights, I've put Monty back in his hammock and he has started to cry a minute later, both times just when I'd got snuggled back into bed :-( We've taken him out of the hammock, given him some more BF and then after a while he has actually gone back to sleep again in his hammock without any fuss. I felt this was a right pain in the bum, but I have started to realise that for many girls just a couple of nights like this would be a dream for them, compared with what they have to do. Am I right? Anyway, regardless of how often your baby is not settling, when it does happen to you, what do you actually do? Ta xx

Colsy - James tends to get quite sleepy or fall asleep and then wakes when I stand up to put him back to bed. I just put him down in his basket and give him his dummy. Usually he then falls asleep. Sometimes I have to shh him to sleep. Sometimes though he really won't settle and I have to pick him up and give him a quick cuddle and then put him back down to bed. He is pretty good really. If he won't settle in his cot its usually between his 6pm ish and 11pm ish feeds. So I turn off the lights in the living room, put him in his bouncer on vibrate and bounce him. Always settles him. Only needs this if he has wind though thankfully.

I am soooo cross. The stupid woman who is supposed to be doing our property inspection still hasn't arrived! James is due a feed and I bet she turns up mid feed and disturbs him grr.

Good afternoon!

Well, looks like Emma may have caught daddy's cold :( She was miserable yesterday, howling if I wasn't holding her at all times. I'd get her to sleep and the minute I put her down, she'd awake up and start back with the screaming. We went to the doctor's today for her jabs but the doc decided to wait til next week to do them. Emma was 2 mths old yesterday and now weighs 15 lbs 3 oz! Doctor plotted her growth curve chart and was above the 97th percentile for head circumference, height and weight but she didn't seem at all concerned that she's growing too fast which is a relief.

Flora- happy 2 months to Harry too :) I was wondering if Emma is starting to teeth too- she's chewing on everything within her grasp. Hope Harry is having a better day today! Cute outfit on Harry in your avatar. We've got a few xmas sleepers for Emma- my fave is her Grinch one. I've started using all her xmas stuff since some of it probably won't fit by xmas :dohh:

Aimee- I get sad whenever I pack away Emma's clothes that's she's outgrown too- makes me want another baby soon  Emma is growing too fast :( Hope xmas shopping went well!

Kte- how did Chloe react to Santa? I want to take Emma but she doesn't always let others hold her.

Chaos- hope the hearing went well!

Colsy- we do the same to settle Emma and by "not settling" she is just fussing and crying after I've put her back in her crib.

littlekitten- hope the woman turns up soon and doesn't disturb you and James.

:hugs: to the sick mamas and babies!

Stupid bloody letting people. I phoned them at 5pm to see when the woman was coming and she said oh sorry her car broke down so she can't come! Ever heard of a phone? So now it has been rearranged for 16th. She wanted to come tomorrow but I said no because I will be doing my bowelprep and there is no way I want anyone in my house while thats going on.

Quick question for the girls who have had their first period after having LO...was your period way lighter? More like spotting than a proper period?

Evenin' All!

Earl has a load of Christmas clothes thanks to his Auntie (SIL). She bought his 3 tops, 3 bibs and a jumper! They're all 0-3 though so I'm going to have to put the tree up asap, put them all on him and sit him by the tree for pictures of him in them lol. There is one in 3-6 which I think will fit him come Christmas day though, and a set of pyjamas that should still fit lol :dohh: sometimes it's a nightmare having such a big baby!

Settling at night - We put Earl down 'awake but drowsy' and having swaddled him I pop his dummy in and watch him drift off. Once his eyes are shut half the time I'll come away but this takes anywhere between 10 seconds (like tonight) and 20 minutes (like last night). It's still not bad as he doesn't cry. He kicks his legs a bit and makes groany, grunty noises but will always be overcome by sleep eventually. This is the same whether it's bedtime or a night feed. It seems to work well but about 8 times out of 10 he does fight it hard lol.

All this red-heads! I keep thinking that Earl's hair is getting darker (I was born with red hair then it all fell out and turned blonde! lol) but then I'll wash it and it'll be more strawberry blonde than ever! Still, there's nothing wrong with being a redhead...although I do keep apologising to him lol.

Has anyone noticed how many 'old fashioned' names we've all used? It's nice not to see too many made up ones too. At least Earl wont be the only one with a good name in his class if he's surrounded by James's, Harry's, Noah's and Monty's as well as Emma's, Autumn's and Charlotte's!!

Flora - hope that Harry is doing better today. It was just a thought about the teething as I'm certain Earl has the odd day where they play up for him. I've got the gel in the cupbard all ready and waiting for when he gets it full blown after 2 months! Also have the calpol at the ready as we're bound to get a cold sooner or later! I love the tigger suit btw!!! Soooooo cute!!

Anyhoo.....I'm off to get his night feeds sorted. Before I go though...just wanted to share my favourite picture of Earl. I've had it printed up for friends and family to go in their Christmas cards. I just love it and I need a frame for it at home. He was 7 days old when it was taken.

Have a nice evening ladies! xx

Here is the picture!!

Btw - Kaites.....so I should expect Earl to be 15lb by Christmas then! lol  We weighed him at home last week and he was showing at 12lb 7oz at 5 weeks 2 days! I shall be weighing him on Wednesday again and then we have our 6 weeks check next week so we will see what the Dr has to say about him! lol

yep, i had a one day bleed, not even full on bleeding either. had dr today for sams jabs and implant and dr said sometimes it can be like that or full on bleeding. i was expecting it to be full on cos it was always like that before.

Evening all

Re: periods, mine was horrendous I was gushing blood and filling pads really fast, although im not convinced it was a period as it was worse when I did things so think it's still the healing process of my c section.

Aimee Earl looks lovely in that picture. I love the more traditional names, traditional but not old fashioned. Im not into these new weirdly spelt names. Although some of the girl ones are ok compared to boy ones.

Chaos hope the bankruptcy hearing went ok for you today.

Kaites I hope Emma's cold clears up quickly.

Well after crying most of the day and pacifying on my boob Noah let me sleep 3 hours nearly this evening. I think he's feeling off colour, no temp though just a little cough and little cute sneezes.

Im taking paracetamol to bring my temp down (was over 38) I cant believe its gone straight on to my chest within a day. I do hope all these aches and pains go soon as its such hard work with a little one.

Well I have eaten the last solid food I am allowed for 30 hours :( Today and tomorrow are going to suck!
