Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

seriously, anyone wanna send me some snow? we had rain yesterday, not bright sunshine. only had a crappy 2cm one night this whole time! :dohh: not fair i say!!!

Its like a blizzard here today, need to get the video camera out and get Noah out in it  will make that the afternoon challenge!

I hope the snow does clear as we are meant to be having Christmas at my mums in Yorkshire

yes pls, lol!

went to our new house yesterday night; was freezing! put the heating on, then checked all the rooms n stuff. made a list of everything that needs doing, which was a bit of a task in itself, lol. there's so much to do, but not a lot of it can be done until the plastering has been done. was a bit miffed that the previous owners hadnt bothered to wipe the cupboards in the kitchen out before thay left, so they're full of crumbs & they left a bit pile of rubble in the garden where they'd replaced the patio, so we'll have to get a skip at some point to get rid of it. other than that, it's great, lol.
we've only got £2500 to do it up, and £1000 of that (at least) will be spent on replastering all the rooms, so now we have to prioritize everything & stick to the budget. my dad's coming to stay for a week at the end of january to help out with stuff like shelves, and guttering & that kinda thing, while me, my oh n my sister do the painting & moving.
i know it should be the least of my priorities, but i cannot wait to do Harry's room. :)

anyways..... is everyone sorted for xmas?

So not sorted for Christmas, no decorations up as im trying to pack, off to Yorkshire Christmas Eve. Moving on the 15th Jan cant wait :happydance:

Pretty much ready. 2 more presents to wrap. Off to my parents house on christmas eve so that will be nice.

Flora - have some of ours. This is my garden atm. We've not had as much as LK - my hubby can still get to work......just lol, but it is beatuful. We took Earl out in it the other day in the pram but forgot the camera, so I'm hoping it will still be here tomorrow so that we can try again. Hubby finishes work at 2pm tomorrow and diesn't go back til Sunday :happydance: so bar a trip to the shops to get the turkey, we'll be holed up all cosy!

Ours is melting now. Quite sunny out there. Just took James for a walk in the pushchair so we could get some fresh air and he has gone out like a light lol. Came back, took him out of his snowsuit, put him in his chair to play while I do some housework and hes fast asleep again lol. The fresh air obviously wore him out. The main roads are now clear thankfully and our road is all slushy. The pavements are still snowy and as I went to walk down one of the paths a woman told me not to cos her husband had just slipped there and he was in an ambulance on the side of the road. So we walked the longer way round.

Hi girls just a quick question; has anyone elses LO got a really odd shaped head lol

Yesterday we noticed a huge change in sams head, so me being me thought he had a brain tumour or something lol always think the worst me!! Anyway took him to A&E and they reckon he's banged it, well he was only in his moses basket so i dont think so. Anyway today im thinking its how he's sleeping/lying on it. Its all pointed over to the left and he always favours lying on the right side of his head, even when i try to turn him back to looking the left side (look at the pic in my signature, thats how he sleeps all the time).

Has anyone tried those pillows shaped like a heart with the hole in the middle? They look quite good for keeping their heads from going flat but i wonder if its too late to use it. Got his next injections on 4th jan so gonna check with my dr (even though they're useless) Im starting to put him to sleep on his left side which luckily he doesnt mind, dunno why its happened cos its not like he's constantly lying down all day.

Jo the clothes came thanks hun :happydance:

re: headshape, ive not tried those shaped head things but would try one if noah's head went funny. Could he of banged his head against the side of the moses basket?

oh thats good, hope everything fits noah, after i sent it i found more babygro's i could've put in!

i dont think he has as i wouldnt have thought he could bang it that hard on the edge of the basket to have made such a difference. ive seen them pillows on ebay - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Love-nes...UK_Baby_NurseryBedding_RL?hash=item5d26671f8a
when he wakes up i'll try and take a photo of it, you can only notice it looking down on his head looks normal from the front.

sams wonky head lol
not easy to take a good pic of it, he's going bald on his right side where he keeps moving it back to there

jo: harry's head has gone kinda flat at the back, but not like sam's. probably normal, but yep, speak to drs to make sure.

aimee: great pic! defo jealous now been years since i saw more than an inch. (of snow, that is, lol)

im sure with chloe the back of her head went flat and she lost her hair from lying on it and it sorted itself but sams is off to one side and looks odd bless him, no ones pointed it out though

Good afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a good day :) We are all done xmas shopping, both pressies and food- hopefully I haven't forgotten anything since the shops are insanely crowded these days! As for the rest of xmas, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the idea of hosting and getting everything prepped in time. Oh well, I can use the baby as an excuse if the house doesn't get cleaned! :) Emma is napping away in the Moby wrap again- she seems to be napping more and still sleeping though the night. I don't want to jinx it, but I think our colicky days might be over :happydance: It has actually been ~24 hrs since she last cried for anything, so fingers crossed this good mood lasts through the holidays! I'm really hoping her 3 month growth spurt doesn't come early though :dohh:

Flora- I've attached a picture of the mount of snow sitting in our cul-de-sac that I'd be happy to share with you :) Nothing wrong with doing up Harry's room first- in fact, it's probably a good idea since the move might disrupt any routine, etc. I'd be inclined to have his room ready to go asap too :)

Jo- is there something interesting that he's looking at from his basket? Just wondering if there is, then maybe by placing him in it in the other direction (feet at the head of the basket), maybe he'd "even" things out a bit by sleeping on the opposite side for a while

Anyone start taking photos of their baby's in xmas outfits yet? I've been gradually dressing Emma up in some of the sleepers...

Kaites - nope in his moses basket he has blank wall or the edge of the sofa and in his crib upstairs he generally goes straight to sleep at night and just turns to the right, im gonna keep turning him to the left. The more i watch him he seems to really favour his right side.

Cute pics of emmas xmas outfits.

LK how has james been on his comfort milk, sams been great, when he does down at night and when he wakes in the morning for his bottle he now goes straight back to sleep instead of staying awake whinging like hell :)

Kaites - Now that's snow....puts my measly 6 inches to shame lol. I'm glad Emma seems to be a lot better. Earl is doing the same thing at the moment - I hope I haven't just jinxed it either. He took a while to get off tonight but fingers crossed, last 3 nights we've slept 7.30-4 and he was asleep by 7.45 tonight. I think it's the fact that he's no longer constantly hungry and he's actually getting some quality sleep. I do get a 'calm before the storm' kind of feeling though, so I'm praying it will last until the weekend although that may be asking a little but much of a 2 month old.....2 months.

Jo_79 - When our HV came round, she told us off as Earl favoured his right side too and said that it would cause him to have a flat head. As it happens he stopped favouring it as his arm healed so he never had an issue but it has made me extra vigilent. Apparently there are loads of pillows etc that all help and work really well too.

Does anyone watch Eastenders? So do we know if Ronnie is going to lose this baby? And What about Stacey? I'm not going to be able to see it at all over Christmas and I don't think I'll be able to catch it iplayer within the week that it's on there :dohh: Seems like Archie is going to be the target of the storyline......oooh someone always has to die at Christmas lol!

I've been on Ebay today (again!) and bought weaning bowls, spoons, pots and beakers. Spent just under £20 including postage and I think I've got enough to see us through.

Anyhoo, I'm off as I have to make tea, call hubby at work to see what he wants for tea (obviously not in that order), do the washing up and fill the steriliser for the morning. Busy busy busy! Have a good evening girls.

yep archie gets it!!! then i think it'll be another who dunnit for a few months lol

Jo- hes been great on it. Much more settled and no more crying out in his sleep. Farts alot though lol.

Hello all,

Just waiting to make a few bottles up for Chloe then I can get to bed, her and my OH are sleeping soundly upstairs.

Im going to try and get to the docs tomorrow, still suffereing with this toilet thing, Havent been to the loo in 2 almost 3 days and so basically I am too scared to go. I know it's doing me no good holding it in but it really does hurt and I am freaked that it may be too hard now. Im even trying to check out colonic irrigation to help me clear out and start all over, eating soup and stuff. I am going to ask the docs if I should take some 'Fybogel Hi-Fibre' stuff and if I can with lactulose I guess. LK you are so right that the doesages they recommend dont work! In the beginning I daren't up it incase it reacted with me differently but I soooooooo wish I had now!

Aimee ~ Lol, yep I watch it, well try to, Chloe just sets off when it comes on, must be able to tell by the theme tune or something that mummy wants just 30 mins to chill! My OH read some spoilers and he was gutted lol but I am completely clueless.

10 mins until bottles are ready :) I am so sleepy.
