Colsy- how scary! Hope OH gets to the bottom of it & it doesnt happen again & also that Monty's chect clears up quickly.

Jo (and anyone else, lol) - what vege is a good one to start on for weaning do you think?

Aimee- happy 4mths Earl! Great comparison pics. I too have a gazillion pics on the laptop that need printing/processing. i'm just too lazy & too broke to get them done :dohh:

Maffie- are you feeling better now? i agree, does sound like maybe you might need to eat a bit more, but hey, at least you're losing weight! lol. the whole BFing helping you losde weight thing doesn't appear to be working for me.... but then i seems to have developed a serious sweet tooth since having Harry & have sweet food cravings crazy bad during the evenings especially. my dreams of being a slim, sexy bride are soooooo not gonna happen, so instead i am settling for a chunky, curvy, sexy bride instead, lol, and other ppl can shove their comments up their butts.

Per16- :hi: again. Was it you who posted about their daughter crawling? If so, wow! I think my son's gonna take forever to crawl as he hates being on his front.

Kte- good luck with being back at work full time. my boss called the other day asking when i was coming back. I've said June, as that's when mat allowance runs out & no way can we afford for me not to work coz of needing soooooo much stuff for the house & coz of the wedding/honeymoon wiping out our life savings completely :( I'm gonna try & do only 20-30 hrs a week instead tho, coz the childcare costs here are £32.50 per day, which feels like daylight robbery. in a year o so, i hope that we can afford for me to be a SAH mummy.

i've forgotten what else i was gonna write..... ummm... harry slept better last night- woke up at 10:10, 3:45, 5:30 and 8am. Getting a little bit better. how i LONG FOR THE DAYS WHEN HE SLEEPS THROUGH AGAIN!!!! whopps, caps lock, haha. 3rd day of baby porridge & he was grabbing the spoon trying to feed himself & laughing thinking it was a game. so cute!!! am defo gonna give him some every morning, as he seems to enjoy it so much & then has a good bf after, follwed by a really good nap, which is always good for him i think!

anyways, i need the loo & a bacon sandwich is calling me from the fridge!!!

Happy Friday luvs!

Urgh what a week! Autumn is no longer sick, but she has that lingering snot filled nose/chesty cough that happens after a cold. Still suctioning her out and (not to be gross) but the snot is getting thick now, so that tells me it's going. Her cough is still bothering her a bit at night, but it don't really wake her up, I've been really lucky that she's still slept really well at night through all this.
I think I'll get the chiropractor to adjust her this morning to help her congestion.

So I went to a consignment sale the other day (kinda like a massive boot fair just dedicated to baby items) and found the Baby Whisperer book for $1!! I'm reading it and trying to identify her cries. One of them said the 3 stages of waking up:

Alert 1 "A creaking or fussy sounds accompanied by fidgeting, It means "Hello, anyone there? Why aren't' you coming to get me?!"

Well I heard this, but decided to lay there a bit longer to see if stage two sounded as it was described in the book:

Alert 2: A cough like cry in the back of the throat that stops and starts. When they stop, they're listening for you. When you don't come in, they mean, "Hey, get in here!"

Now a cough like cry .. I was like .. what the hell is a cough like cry, but when she did it, I was like ooOOOOoooooh!! She totally did it! I didn't let it get to stage 3 haha, which is a "all out cry with legs and arms flailing"

I'm going to work on her hungry/tired cues today. It's fun!

Colsy ~ Sorry to hear about your OH fainting. Maybe it's just cause he's run down with all this chest infection and stuff. A sign that his body is saying "OY, Slow down and get well!!"

Regarding foods, I've been making my own (carrots, Apples, Pears, Bananas and so on and so forth) but my friend gave me a bunch of gerber baby mush that I'm going to use up too, no point in it going to waste and she seems to chow it down. Gerber just use the main ingredient .. example carrots, and add water to it so its thinner and that's it.

The only food I've found she's don't really like is avacardo. I don't blame her, it's pretty strong tasting. I'll try her again in a couple months.

Jo ~ Autumn has porridge too in the morning. I mix a bit of pear sauce in to sweeten it a bit for her. She inhales it! lol. She's on 2 icecubes a meal at the moment. (+ an 8 oz bottle)

I gave her a larger piece of mango to chew on the other day and she was sucking it like it was a bottle haha. I plan to get one of these to help her:
https://www.bumpto3.com/images/en-gb/products/da201_main.jpg

It's so they can get used to lumps of food and suck it thru the net and make it like mush, but takes away the risk of choking until they get used to it.

Kte ~ Yay for Chloe rolling over! She'll be crawling before you know it.

Aimee ~ Aww Earl looks so proud in that piccy!!

Ok this has taken me over an hour to type in between naps and showers and butt changes haha, and now I'm late for the Chiro! I'll get to reply to everyone in one post one of these days haha.

Have a FABULOUS day, girls :)

Hey all

 me again with a question for you all (i'm so sorry, I will join in properly soon!!)

Do your LOs still spit up a little (or alot ) of milk after feeds? i'm guessing its something to do with trapped wind? He will bring up a good 2-3 burps but then when I put him in his bouncer or lay him on his mat, within 10-15 mins he is sick, sometimes a little or can sometimes be a lot! I thought they grew out of this around now?
DD was never really a sicky baby unless she had drank too much!

Anyway Theo has gone back to taking his milk again, but now wants 6oz every 4.5 hours  i'm just going with the flow and trying not to worry, he's still happy and healthy etc! Only thing is that hes not getting enough milk in the day so he is waking twice in the night (well 3am and 7am, most would call it only one wake up, but we don't get up till 9am most days ), have tried giving him a dreamfeed but it makes no difference & he only took 3oz of a 7oz bottle I made him anyway? Babies, they are sooo confusing!! Sure we will get there soon!
I tried him with a few spoonfuls of yoghurt yesterday, he loved it....gonna hold off weaning till 5 months though if we can, might just give him bits and bobs along the way to get him used to it? I don't have time at the moment for weaning lol!

Colsy- how scary for your OH, hope he is better soon!

Chaos- I have the baby whisperer book too  I love it, just dug it out of the cupboard along with Contented little baby, much prefer baby whisperer though!

LittleKitten- Hope you have a better night sleep tonight:flower:

Flora- I know what you mean about longing for a full night sleep again, Theo has slept through the night ONCE, little monkey!! Hope you enjoyed your bacon butty, mmm!!

Aimee- Happy 4 months Earl, hes gorgeous!! Lol @ the noises, Theo makes a similar noise!

KTE- Thats disgusting about the bus driver!! :nope: poor lady and baby!

Maffie- Hope your headache is better, I too have been getting alot of headaches recently & putting it down to not eating/drinking enough? Horrible though, theyre like proper dehydration headaches and really hurt my sinuses.

Flora - forgot to say....Earl's first was carrot lol. I'm a cheapskate so I just cook up whatever would otherwise go to waste, obviously it's still fresh but with just the two of us there's usually leftovers. Tonight .....brocolli

Mellie - Earl is still a little bit sick on occasion. His bumbo does it to him a lot, or if I lie him flat too soon after eating. I'd assumed that this would happen until he's taking more solids

EDIT: Well brocolli wasn't a great success. Hr liked the taste but the texture was off. I have a feeling it wasn't quite smooth enough for him just yet....so after eating roughly half of what I had made up (2 cubes) I went and got a banana and he had another few spoons of banana and a good suck on a chunk of it too.

I'm a little bit unsure about how much he 'should' be eating as the measurements are a little vague - the guide says 2-4 tsp's. Not easy to tell IMO lol. But he seems happy and the aim of the game isn't to make him eat loads so I think he did pretty well lol. We shall see what' he's like in half an hour lol.

Flora i think i gave Sam sweet potato or butternut squash - i made up a few different veggies at the same time and froze them but those were the ones i found completely mashed in without any lumps. He loved it!! Ive heard you can mix pear with broccoli to make it a bit sweeter, sam wolfs it down no matter what i put in it lol

Chaos i saw that mesh thing in asda the other day - it looks really good the label said 12+ months on it but i might get one anyway and try it. Sam chomps on his rusk and takes huge chunks off it so if he can cope with that surely he can cope with anything that comes through that netting
Oh and sam doesnt like avocado either lol forgot i tried him with that he wasnt impressed, i dont like it either so cant say i blame him lol

Colsy i hope your OH is ok and monty is better soon :hugs:

OH is taking us out for a meal tonight :happydance: best go get myself ready!

Hey girls,

I've started weaning Isla and its going really well! She has a cow and gate porridge for breakfast ( a small bowl) sweet potato, butternut squash or carrot for lunch mixed with some baby rice and formula (one large ice-cube) and pear or apple and babyrice for tea (3 small ice cubes). All the above have gone down well and are recommended by Annabel Karmel as first tastes. I remember she also recommends mixing avocado with banana to make it more palatable for babies. I'm going to carry on with these for quite a while as she's still young and see how it goes.

She seems a lot happier and content in the day, can't say it's made much difference to the night feeds. She still wakes around 10pm, 2am, and 4am!!! Arghhh! Hopefully in time this will improve. I breastfeed her mostly but during the day she has 1 bottle sometimes 2.

Chaos - that mesh thing looks great, think I might get one in a few weeks time.

Mellie - sometimes Isla has little spit-ups, usually accompanied by burps.

Have a good weekend everyone ;-)

Evening ladies,

Chaos ~ I like the look of that thing, have heard about them before so its defo something I want to get Chloe.

Well, she has settled down I hope so 30 mins on the Wii, I like to wait and make sure she is asleep before I try and move her upstairs!

Work should be okay, its typical, and kind of amazing how in one day Chloe has come along so much today, Nij took her to a baby group (he wrote about it in our parent journal ~ linky in my siggy if your interested) and she was holding a rattle and shaking it. So she has mastered solid objects! So proud of her though. I'm proud and not too upset I missed it as I know when I have been playing with her she has been learning the fundamentals and now she has mastered it!

Right 25 mins of Wii left!

Night all, have a good Fri evening! x

Evening ladies. James has eaten for England today! He had 5oz at 5am, 6.5oz at 9am, 6.5oz at 2pm, 5oz at 5pm and another 6.5oz at 8pm!! Little piglet. He has gone into his travel cot tonight cos he was just plain too big for the moses and obviously the cot is out of the question considering we are still sleeping on my parents living room floor! Put him in and he immediately put his arms above his head, sighed and was out cold lol.

Work is going ok. Very busy and stressful. Had to resuscitate one of the babies several times on Tuesday so hoping it won't be so bad tomorrow and Sunday.

Morning all, well went shopping yesterday I was a bit useless as head was so foggy. We popped into Krispy Kreme for coffee and donuts but I only managed half a donut, I think im losing my sweet tooth. I was feeding Noah in there and he was so fascinated by the lights.

I have a meeting with work next week and dreading it. Thankfully Noah is coming with me, tried him in his connecta for a bit longer yesterday and he loved it so we may so without the pram into the city next week.

Right off to read back what ive missed

LK - Earl was a piglet yesterday too.....46oz in 24hours!!

We did our weigh in this morning - 19lb 2oz at 4 months (17weeks 6 days)

Best be off....gannet wants feeding again!!

EDIT: Really interesting....just put Earl's details at 4 months to get an accurate percentile. I haven't been to clinic in I don't know how long so this was really interesting and shows we're still doing ok lol

https://www.pregnancytoday.com/arti...afety/baby-height-percentile-calculator-6654/

Just a quick hello while Emma is in her exersaucer :) Heading out for a coffee with hubby later (Emma in tow too, but it sounds like a date if I neglect to add that :haha:). The last couple of days I have been attempting to knit. I love to sew but wanted something that I could take around the house so I'm trying to knit a pair of pants for Emma (they'll probably be shorts though since I don't think I bought enough yarn :dohh:). I've only ever done a scarf before so it's a new challenge :) Question for those who are giving their kiddies baby rice- do you use the "just add water" stuff or the ones that you need to add breastmilk or formula to? We're still waiting on the weaning but I was looking at baby rice aisle again in the grocery store...

Aimee- happy belated 4 mths to Earl! I love the "before and after" shots, lol. Hmm- just did that online calculator and my chunky monkey is "over the 97th percentile" for height and weight  I'm sure Earl is right up there with her though :)

Kte- Yayy for Chloe rolling! Happy 4 mths to Chloe this weekend too :)

Chaos- My friend swears by those mesh thingies. Her son is a little older (~10mths) and she finds them handy when she's trying to get meals prepped- she'll give Finn a bit of something and doesn't have to worry about him choking while she's distracted and he doesn't get too much through the mesh so his appetite is still there for dinner.

Maffie- that's cool that Noah loves his Connecta :) Emma now hates the stroller with a passion so we keep a collection of carriers in the car now. I think she feels more secure in them since she's up higher, with Mum or Dad. I hope your meeting with work goes well :hugs:

I know I've missed people- hope everyone is doing well and :hugs: to those that need them!

Earl's results at 4 months:

your child is 19 pounds, and that is
95.8 percentile for weight.

your child is 26 inches, and that is
75.6 percentile for height.

your child has a head circumference of 17.5 inches, and that is
90.7 percentile for head circumference.

I've checked on his charts in his book and they look about right. I'm not sure I did his length right but it's only 1 percentile down from his 6-week check (last time he was weighed and measured.....bad mummy )

Yep, that's a big baby :)

Our doc always marks the paper on the exam table at Emma's heel and the top of her head. Always looks easier than the way I try to measure my little wiggler with the tape ruler.

Kaites ive got an organic wholegrain baby rice and I added EBM its much thinner than when made with formula.

Here's a pic of my cheeky man today, his hair is getting so long.

https://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/maffiebabe/DSC_0007-1.jpg

I need to re-do her length but I only have a tape measure from a christmas cracker and its too short now

hey everyone, had jacks christening today and its all gone really well. Im absolutley shattered now though :)

Congrats :flower: Glad its gone well :D

Maffie ~ Noah certainly does have long of hair! Chloe has a cute little bald patch on the back of her head where her hair has rubbed off!

Yep, Earl has that too....it's got 'fluff' on it now as he's spending more time sat up etc. He's got a proper beastie boys style mullet lol.....business up front, party at back!

Noah has a patch thats shorter at thew back but he's so much hair it's hardly noticeable. Well ive been asleep on the sofa for hours and Noah has been asleep o there with me. I lie one way and he tucks up behind my legs (OH watches us ) He's not woken for his 10pm feed yet !!!! Thats with him not napping at all today I guess.

 I have the world's most hyperactive child this morning! He woke up twice in the night, and then woke again at 5.30 and would not go back to sleep. I'm waiting for him to show signs of slowing down but nope, he's lying on his mat, rolling around and squealing like it's the best thing ever! lol He should need a nap in about half an hour, then maybe we can curl up on the sofa too.....

Maffie - Earl and I often curl up on the sofa. I lie with my back on the edge, and he goes in the middle. Many is the early morning nap we've had like that lol. Hubby thinks it's everso cute to find us like that - he may well find us like that this morning as I'm shattered!!!

I've got to head out to the shops as soon as they open as we literally have NO food in the house. No bread, no milk, no tea bags, nothing!! I'm desperate for a cuppa!!!! :coffee:

Right, I'm off.....wonder if I can convince Earl to stop making that horrid snorting noise he's taken to making. It goes right through me lol.
