Hmm...

Maffie ~ Hope you feel better soon...

Kte ~ I've no idea why I've a problem on here...

Good afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a good day! Today was yoga- Emma is now passed out on my lap. I love the way it tuckers her out :)

Colsy- hope Monty gets better soon :hugs:

Aimee- I just checked out that thread and I think your hubby made good points. Seems like people in the weaning section (and BF section too) have a tendency to get pretty defensive about their choices and it leads to some pretty heated threads. I think your hubby made a good point about looking at the sources of info. I'm a geek for researching stuff too- I spent Sunday trying to research weaning using medline to find some scientific articles on BLW but there were none to be found. I like the idea of BLW but am disappointed to see that there isn't any published research about it in nutrition/medical journals (especially since I saw a blog where Gill Rapley was being flamed and she tried to defend herself by saying that the research was on the way but that was back in 2008 and there still isn't anything out there). Anyhoo, I'm torn about BLW but if I mentioned that in the weaning section, I'd probably be blasted by all the BLW mums :haha:

eswift- hope your computer problems get sorted. I hope CC likes her swim lessons when they start :)

Kte- hope Chloe is feeling okay after her jabs. I was curious about Emma's handedness (is that even a word?? lol) since DH is a lefty and I'm righthanded too. I was watching her play with her toys at yoga this morning and I think she might be righthanded too.

Chaos- glad to hear Autumn is doing better!

sam- hope George is feeling better :hugs:

Maffie- hope your headache clears soon :hugs:

Well, I'm starving- I hope I can transfer Emma to her swing without waking her...

Thanks ladies :flower:
I was kickng myself for even posting in the first place tbh as I knew deep down I would end up being badly bruised at the end of it but I can't stand sweeping statements with no evidence. I'm a trained market researcher and historian.....it's in my blood! lol But still...I've had to bite my tongue on soooo many occasions on here recently I normally stick to inane chatter, and on here of course which is my safe haven lol. :hugs:

As for BLW, I personally think that every child is different. As you know we've been trying Earl on some basics as he's been trying to bite me during meal times...I kidyou not! lol....and so far it's going well. However, it's plain to see to both hubby and I that he is the independent sort and whether it's a spoon loaded with puree or a peice of carrot, he'd still, even at 4 months, feed himself! So, for me, as long as he's happy and getting a good balanced diet, he can start as soon as he's happy to. I offer him something to hold, play with, suck on munch if he wants to at tea time every night now, as well as a couple of spoons of something and so far, so good. He hardly eats anything in real terms (apart from tonight where he polished off 1 cube of potato and carrot mix, watered down with formula and a bit of rice (looked odd but actually tasted nice )...... he just kept on eating it lol. You will notice however that I NEVER mention any of this on any posts in Weaning.....I would be drawn and quartered if I mentioned this as I haven't been anywhere near a 'health professional'.

Glad everyone liked the pictures btw. I love that picture of Earl with the Seal too....I'm particularly proud of it as I took it!! I'm normally abysmal with a camera but good old multishot works wonders lol. There were a few not so good ones too

Right....Hubby and I are addicted to Mario Kart on the Wii and he's sat here waiting for me to put down the computer and race him. Earl is down for the night, so let the games begin!

Lovely evening to everyone....I'll catch up more tomorrow. Bit frazzled today as you can imagine lol

I think I was just looking out a bit more since I am a righty and OH is a lefty, I was curious to see who she would take after!

Ha, I just read this and I was thinking you meant politically. And then I thought how on earth can you work out a child's political views at this age!!!! :dohh: Realised a bit too late in the day that you were referring to handedness

awww this made me laugh, thats like something id do :haha:

 I did wonder if I had expressed myself correctly, the political thought crossed my mind when I was typing it! lol

Maffie ~ Hope you feel better soon :flower:

Aimee ~ Enjoy the Wii night, wish my OH would compete with me on mine! Sounds like fun

I am such a bad daughter, I forgot it was my Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary today, I always do this stupid thing of remembering an event like an anniversary or birthday a week in advance, think 'oh yeah must do something about that' and then forget!! My Mum is over on Thursday, maybe I could do something then . . . argh :dohh:

Well Chloe is asleep, I was expecting her to wake up for a feed before bed but nope . . . may have to try and peel her dress off and let her sleep in her vest, its a long sleeved one so a nice blankie to cover her bottom half and Im sure she will be fine.

Time to make a few feeds up and then bed yipee!

Nite all x

Well, my little lady is finally asleep...

Her poor little teeth are causing her such problems, I feel so sorry for her... I'm sure I felt a little a sharp tooth today, but I can't see it!?!?!

Watching Confessions of a shopaholic... So funny!?!?!

Morning all

Well Noah was hungry last night, I do wonder if he was trying to pass his windiness out. I really should avoid leeks. He was feeding ever hour to hour and half yesterday evening but he went down at 10.30 and got me up at 5.30. Why is it then I cant get back to sleep but he normlly does  Not this morning though he's bright as a button.

Head still feels a bit yuk but not as bad as yesterday. Think its a lazy day today though, going to cancel doctors appointment as I just dont fancy tackling the snow today :dohh:

Aimee ive noticed lots of threads on here can spiral out of control, I try to bite my tongue as much as possible. I have issues with threads containing 'scientific facts' as im a biologist by training

Right time to go pump the boob Noah didnt have to up my freezer supplies.

Colsy - I hope you're feeling better :hugs:

Maffie - Hope the headache is better. :hugs:

eswift - poor CC, I hope her teeth are better today. I will occasionally feel sharp bits and look and there's nothing. Kinda wish that first tooth would hurry up and cut lol.

Well, I feel a lot more refreshed today. No waking. Hubby did the dream feed so I was in bed at 10, and Earl didn't surface until 6.30! He's in a cracking mood too.....shame he's got his jabs this afternoon as it's bound to upset him. Going to make the most of the giggling lol.

I've kind of said that I'm not going to look at the main body of the forum anymore and stick with posts in this thread and those of you ladies and gents. I was talking to hubby and while I don't get angry as such, after all I don't know these people so why does it matter, I do feel a lot of the time that my opinion doesn't really count as either, I don't participate in a 'good' parenting style or I give an opinion that perhaps takes a different angle. A lot of the time I know that a post is put up in order to justify the OP's position rather than listen to everyone's views and debate a point in an adult manner. If you look on that thread now it's descended into name calling and the Mod's have ended up warning me and hubby. Can totally understand why we got that warning and it was fair enough, but I know that the pettiness will continue well beyond.

Consequently I don't really get anything from being a member any more - Shame really. :nope:

Anyhoo's...going to go and play with a smiley little boy  Have a nice day ladies

Have i Missed something??? Whats with the Warning??? Havent been on for a few days, as George is not well??? can anyone bring me up to speed?

Oh dear lord why do people feel the need to be so damned bitchy? Aimee - so sorry they have been so awful to you.

Sam - Basically there was a thread in weaning bout a newspaper article which got a bit out of hand. Aimee and Drew put accross a valid point but were shot down in flames and have now been warned not to let Drew post on Aimee's account.

Well I am feeling a bit happier today ladies. I was so shattered at work yesterday that I made the decision to drop my Tuesday shift and just do Saturday and Sunday. So now I have all week with James and I'm not too tired to enjoy him. He rolled from his tummy to his back on Monday, can't remember whether I said lol. He has also learnt that if he pushes on the ground with his feet he can scoot himself around the rug in the lounge. Oh and got him weighed on Monday....now a hefty 14lb 8.5oz!!!!

I generally don't post much in the other threads either, I take a peek every now and then but overall there isn't much for me, I think it was different in the pregnancy area but now post its postnatal its a bit different. I don't mind, I enjoy coming here and speaking to you lovely ladies I feel I have grown close to over the last year :hugs: That's my main purpose for being here x

I have a grump today, well, a fussy madam. Think its leftover from yesterdays jabs poor little one. She has the attention span of a flea today and is getting over tired, over hungry, over grumpy . . . everything she wants I give her yet its still not making her happy, you get the picture. Shame really, was hoping for a fun play day she was so giggly first thing.

Aimee ~ Hope earl is okay after his jabs. Makes it harder when they are in a good mood as you know what is coming for them!

LK ~ Sounds good for dropping a shift  More you and James time.

Oh forgot to say, took Chloe to baby Clinic yesterday before her jabs, was intending to get her weighed and measured but she cried as soon as we walked into the room so I just got her weighed! Shame really as that was my last baby clinic with her for the foreseeable future. I am hoping the Childminder will take her as I'd like to keep check on her weight, especially when she is weaning. Anyway, so she now weighs 15lbs 12oz!

Best go, think she needs a Mummy cuddle to try and have a nap.

Aww bless her Kte. James is a bit like that today. He's dropped his milk intake majorly since yesterday. Took 4oz at 7.30am and then nothing til 1pm. Took at 7oz bottle and then nothing til 9pm when he took another 7oz bottle. Then this morning he took 5oz at 7.45am, then 3oz with a struggle at 10.15am and fell asleep so is now having a nap finally.

Kte ~ Don't let the child minder not do as you as, if you'd like her weighed there's no reason she can't do it... Mind used to take DS to the childrens centre for his speech therapy... She's a good weight too... I'm sure weaning will be fine...

Right off to give CC a cuddle she's so fighting sleep...

V quick update - Monty coughing for England and OH is the most ill I've seen him since he ended up in hospital in India four years ago. Not a good day. I am scared that OH may have swine flu - no reason to think this as I don't know of anybody of our friends who've knowingly had it in the past few weeks. He has all the standard flu (proper flu, not a cold) symptoms, so it could be swine flu or it could be another type of flu. Am praying I don't get it too, as I don't know how we'd manage (our families are all three hours away from us). Also praying that Monty's over the worst of his cold - I absolutely don't want him getting whatever his daddy's got. I gotta go and ring the bank now. Stupid internet banking won't work, which means I have to pay a whole glut of bills over the phone. That will be fun. Sorry girls, I sound miserable. Actually I'm not really, I'm just worried about my boys. I haven't had time to read everything on here today, so I hope you're all doing well and having fun with your gorgeous babies. xx

just about to feed and change Noah so will post proper later but Colsy up your boys are ok and make speedy recovery.

Colsy ~ Hope they are both okay and you don't get it either.

Well Chloe woke up from her nap this afternoon and she has been in such a good mood. She has been playing with us and then in her car, she has just gone for another nap now. I'm indulging in lots of cuddles with her :) Although I was just about to make a cuppa! Never mind lol

Good afternoon ladies!

Hope everyone is having a good day. Today was baby massage- Emma was pretty tired and got fed up with it about halfway through. We learned how to help clear sinus and chest congestion through massage so we still got something out of it despite Emma being a wiggly grump. Last night Emma rolled over for the first time- I was super annoyed because it happened when I went upstairs for 2 minutes to change into my pjs and I missed it! Oh well, I guess there will be plenty more milestones ahead of us...

eswift- hope cc's teeth aren't bothering her too much :hugs: There have been a few times Emma has chomped down on my hand and I thought I felt something too but can't see any teeth. I hope we are getting close- her gums are all bumpy so I know they are working their way out.

Maffie- A fellow science geek ;) I've got a biology degree too :) Hope your headache clears soon :hugs:

Aimee- :hugs: I pretty much only lurk around here and the natural parenting section- not too much controversy over baby carriers and cloth nappies :haha: You definitely don't have a bad parenting style though- I think all of the bumpkin mums have slightly different styles but that's just because our babies are all individuals with different needs. Hope you had a fun day with gorgeous Earl :)

LK- glad to hear you are able to spend more quality time with James :) Sounds like he is growing like a weed now!

Colsy- hope your OH is okay and Monty doesn't catch it :hugs:

Kte- glad to hear the nap sorted Chloe's mood :) Enjoy the cuddles!

:hugs: to those that need them

I spoke too soon . . . . Grumpy baby alert! 3rd Night in a row she has done this now, just not sure what is up. Clean bum, fed, winded, tried playing, cuddles and dummy don't work. I just don't get what has gotten into her :nope:  The only thing that works a little is me holding her whilst standing up but after a while my back hurts and I need to sit which sets her off again.

Well, off to try again. She is currently CIO in her moses basket. Little whimpers at the mo, then cry, then whimper. Feel mean but sometimes it works if I pop her down for a few mins then go back for a cuddle.

Kaites ~ Awh well done Emma! Shame she did it when you weren't there, typical! Hope you get your own special show. Massage for her sinus, that sounds interesting & useful!

Well Chloe is asleep now, got her out the moses basket, quickly stuck a dummy in her mouth and gave her a cuddle before she could think to cry. I have made up her night feeds so going to sit tight for 30 mins and make sure she has settled for the night.

Hope everyone is okay :hugs:

Good evening ladies,

Kte - I hope Chloe got off ok. :hugs:

Colsy - I hope everyone is feeling better :hugs:

Kaites and Everyone - thanks for all the support

LK- Earl has been funny lately with his milk. Today for example - woke at 6.30 and took 5 oz, 5oz at 9ish. Then fell asleep at 11, woke at 12 and took 8oz, then with all the excitement he didn't eat again until 4.30 (normally eats every 3hours) and took 8oz. He did have a full cube of puree at 5.30, then 5oz before bed. He'll probably have about 6oz at his dream feed. That's 37 oz which I know sounds like a lot, but when you consider he would normally take anything up to 48oz in a day, this is a considerable drop. I've read that at 4 months the appetite drop as they start to move towards 3 meals a day. Maybe that's what's going on.

Well, the jabs went ok today. Hubby had to hold him. I just don't have the heart to....I'm too much of a wimp. He did well though and aside from a bit of a grump before bed (totally normal) he was fine all afternoon. He took a little while to settle but I think that was more to do with his legs aching rather than feeling poorly. He had a bit of a temp so a little calpol and he's been sound asleep since 7.15.

I've also just sent off the application for that job I talked about earlier in the month. I'd been putting it off for ages as I couldn't be bothered filling out a form, couldn't find the time and now, the deadline is friday so needed to just get it done. Pretty happy with it so we will have to see. Chances are slim as my experience probably isn't enough, but we will have to see. It's a temp contract so maybe that will work in my favour  I'll let you know what happens.

Hubby is back to work tomorrow  - don't want him to go back...really enjoyed our mini-break! :cloud9: and I beat him on the wii too! lol

Right, time to make up bottles then bed I reckon. Goodnight all.

Morning all, well we had a Chinese last night and played on the wii

Thankfully head as cleared, woke early feeling a little 'rough' coffee helped

Noah was wonderful yesterday he kept coming off the boob smiling and giggling it was just amazing really pulled at the heart strings.

Im supporting a little injury too as I slipped going into the kitchen and arm is all bruised, the bloomin door nearly came off the hinges only one screw had stayed in!!!!!! OH fixed the dorr last night so glad it didnt fall off and that I wasn't carrying Noah.

Kaites I miss being a science geek I really should find work in my field. I'm sure you'll see Emma hit lots of milestones.

More house work today, need to get on top of all the washing now the dryer is fixed!
