Morning all,

She is fighting her tiredness again today already! I don't know what is up, not good for next week! My Mum is coming over this aft so that should be nice, hope Chloe is in a better mood by then, thinking we can take her on a mini walk to help her relax and get some rest.

Aimee ~ I did then my Sis called and the phone woke her up! Luckily a bottle and a cuddle and she went straight back off! Good luck with the job application :flower:

Maffie ~ the fall sounds nasty, hope it heals soon. Bless Noah being all giggily :D

Eswift ~ how is your elbow now?

Kaites ~ I usually miss out on the milestones too, I found the first tooth but Nij has had the first smile and first giggle! I'm sure we have plenty to come :hugs:

Best go and sort out grumpy goo . . . .

EDIT: Think she has settled, I just put her down in her moses basket from her swing chair and she has now stopped crying. She would not take her dummy and a cuddle from me. I was a little bit sat about that but maybe its a good thing as she needs to re-learn to settle herslef for next week. I will check in a few mins, I want to just glance over but my glasses are upstairs and I haven't put my contacts in so I could stare all I want and not be able to tell! Im really short sighted so I am scrunched up to the PC screen now lol

Why is it I only ever want to sneeze whne she has just dropped off?!? :haha:

Morning everyone.

I hope we're all ok.

Maffie - Glad you're feeling better, I meant to put a get well soon up for you yesterday so here's a belated one :flower:

Kte - Aww bless her. Earl is sat beside me on the sofa whinging. He woke from his last nap at 8 and will not drop off now. He wont sleep on me unless I've got my dressing gown on now :dohh: (I think it's comfy for him lol) so I have to just wait it out and try to get him to sleep on the sofa, but he wriggles and slides off, so I've got to think of an alternative and fast lol.

Mmmmm porridge for breakfast. Yummers! With golden syrup (only a tiny bit  I used to like it with lashings but now I can't eat sweets). Speaking of that, I have my appointment with the GP on Monday morning so hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer.

Have a nice day ladies. Hubby is back to work so I have to get the house back up to standard and I have a weeks worth of washing to do....joy oh joy! lol :haha:

Afternoon girls. Man oh man do I feel rough today. Woke up at 3.30am and had to run to the loo where I spent the next hour with my head between my knees cos I was almost fainting from the stomach cramps. I think they were actually worse than labour! Thankfully whatever is was seems to have cleared now and I am just left with a very tender tummy and mild dehydration. Didn't pee from 3.30am til gone 11am. Not like me at all lol. James is very much making up for his last 2 days of decreased intake. Had me up at 6.15am and I gave in and fed him at 6.50am. Took 5.5oz and then took another 6.5oz at around 10.15am. Is now having a nap finally after fighting it for ages so I'm waiting for him to wake up ravenous and screaming lol.

It just took me ages to catch up on everything & i'm really sorry that I haven't got time to reply to everyone :dohh:

Harry has been really grizzly the past few days & I am suffering from major sleep deprivation, lol. He's been waking 3-5 times every night. I thought maybe it was because we've stopped swaddling him, but I swaddled him last night & even topped him up with 3oz of emb (we've stopped formula completely about 10 days ago as I now have about 50oz stored up & it seems a shame to not use it after all the effort of pumping it, lol) and he still woke up 4 times. I wonder if it's coz of teething pains? His gums look really sore (red & swollen, with 2 white, sharpish lumps at the top where canines will eventually be)...

We gave Harry his 1st ever 'solid' yesterday. It was 1 teaspoon of baby porridge 7 it went down a treat- he comped it around his mouth & his eyes really lit up as if to say 'what's this, me likey!' and then swallowed it just fine, so I gave him another teaspoon of it thismorning and again, went down just fine- no tongue thrust or anything, so I'm really chuffed. I'm still gonna try BLW at 6 months, but I'm happy to use stuff like porridge & steamed, pureed home made stuff. I'm a 'go with the flow' kinda gal.(OH is not a fan of jars, readymeals, tins etc, even for us, so 'no child of his' is eating that when we both have hands & fresh food we can cook just as good with, lol. Men huh?!)

Totally forgot to get Harry weighed yesterday coz we slept in too late (didnt get up till gone 11am coz of being awake most of the night) but we went swimming for the 4th time in the evening & again, he loved it. I'm so glad he likes the water, especially with OH being a diver.

aimee, I';ve started not replying to certain threads coz I dont wanna start fights, lol. I figure each to their own. I try not to be judgemental, but if my opinion differs hugely from the OP, I just skip it. Not worth it at the end of the day. I read on here & a couple of other threads & I check the BFing one regularly, but I dont reply much anymore. I had one person practically saying i was poisoning Harry coz I give formula time to time. So what?! I was FF, as was OH & we're perfectly fine, lol.

Anyways, gotta go as Harrybo is kitten-crying again & it goes right through me, lol!

Awwww here all you wonderful ladies are! I was wondering where you had got too! Annabelle is def going through 4 month growth spurt! Eating for England at the mo I dont mind though as it means rest time for momma! Hope you are all well, and that the October bumpkins are flourishing!

Flora - That's exactly my attitudes towards Earl having solids. He already sucks on bits of fruit and veg so I'm going to keep him to 1 meal a day until 24 weeks (bearing in mind he's 17.5 weeks now!) and then just build from there. I also figure that as he now knows how to eat from a spoon s the messiest meals can be a bit more 'civilised' lol.

It's funny......I thought it was just me that had these experiences in other sections :dohh:

As always, Earl isn't spurting, just continuously growing lol. His milk intake has been lower again today - 5oz at 6, 9 and 12, then just had 6oz after the world's longest nap (2-4.30!). Time for tea soon.....banana for the first time tonight I think which could be interesting lol. Then bed. By the end of the day I'm expecting he'll only have had 35oz....hmmmm best keep an eye on this.

Re: jars and powders. I was just saying to hubby that while I would definitely prefer to make all my own food for Earl, There's no denying there will be occasions when they're convenient/necessary. A bit like ready made cartons if you FF. I was wondering if people had thought about incedents when you might consider using them....My mind went straight to when we go on holiday as we probably wont have the time or the equipment (or the space in the car) so may take a small stock just in case we're not eating something baby friendly. I'm treating them a bit like I treat fast food for me lol.....a nice convenience but definitely not for everyday lol.

Anyway....like I say, time for tea.

LK - I hope you feel better. Sounds like food poisoning of some sort but I could be wrong.

I just bought a box of heinz baby rice today to try, has anyone else used this and if so what did you do? Jack will be 21 weeks on Tuesday, the health visitornsaid wait til 24/26 weeks but im guessing a couple weeks earlier on baby rice wont be that bad?? Just curious how much and when to give it at first?

Btw - if anyone was wondering about my ticker - i cant see it on my profile but its defo an old one if its there! :)

h702 - can't see a ticker at all. I just made up a small amount (1 tsp to 10tsp of milk I think) on the first try and offered him a little bit to see if he a. wanted it and b. would take it. As it happens he did and ate a couple of spoons. Since I offer him a small amount of rice/veg mix or rice/fruit mix with a little formula so it's smooth and runny. Tonight he had about 1/5 of a banana I think....hard to tell once it's all mixed in and I ate some banana too

Yeah, recommendations are 6 months for weaning, but I think everyone is going by instincts and as long as we're at 4 months -ish, I think we're all agreed it's what's best for each individual baby.

Btw - forgot to add this piccy to my last post. Taken this morning. Earl was fidgety and in a really cheeky mood. I went to put him in his chair and he did this! He sat like this for about 5 minutes before eventually slopping backwards and instead trying to roll over towards his toybox (which is the messy thing in the background )

Anyhoo's bath time now....just got to go and soak the mushrooms...making risotto for tea and I'm nervous. Never made a proper one before :nope:

Aimee ~ Good luck with the Risotto! Did Earl enjoy banana?

Flora ~ Glad Harry enjoyed his solids too.

Per16 ~

h702 ~ Nope, I can't see your ticker either, odd.

Chloe was doing some assisted rolling over today, I hold out my hand and she pulls herself across, its defo a start. She has been such a happy baby today, loved playing in her car and chuntering with her Nanna and Grandad. I have had lots of snuggles today too, she has been a much better napper. It's my one day of work tomorrow and so its Daddy-Daughter day tomorrow.

Right, bottles & bed! Night all x

Men huh?!)

i have been making all sams food myself, i had a jar in the cupboard and one night i didnt have enough homemade food to make up his tea, so i put a teaspoon of jarred food in and when i tested it to make sure it wasnt too hot i gagged cos the jarred stuff was absolutely rancid!!! Think it was meant to be spaghetti bolegnase for 4 months, bloody awful. So if i run out of food again he'll just get milk not a jar of food. No judgement against anyone that does use jars but i just think they taste horrible.

Sam now has porridge every morning and the HV said thats really a good start to the day :) he has lots of pureed fruit but i mix it with baby rice as he likes to have his food quite thick. then tea is usually 4/5 ice cubes of cauli/broccoli/sweet potato/butternut squash/swede and various other veggies! The only thing i found he dont like is banana, which im kinda glad cos i hate them, even the smell makes me feel ill mashing them up, chloe doesnt like them either!

Talking of chloe, she's settled in so well into her new school, she's got lots of new friends, her teacher is also the head master and he said she's absolutely perfect (did wonder if he was talking about chloe or not lol) im so pleased though cos i was really worried she'd be left out but she seems to have gone in being more confident.

I went to work on monday to discuss me going back, changed my hours to 9-3 and im back on the tuesday after easter; they said i can stay off another 6 months but i will drop to stat mat pay which is a huge drop from my wages (they paid me full pay for 6 months) which we cant afford so i have to go back. Im really not looking forward to it, i am barely away from Sam at all at the moment so its gonna be hard being away from him all day

With regards to posts in other areas; i very rarely post on anything i tend to read and lurk around the forum, ive seen so many arguements from people disagreeing on stuff, its a forum and it happens but some people go too far, especially i find in the weaning section, i never posted anything about weaning sam except in here cos i didnt want people jumping all over me for weaning at 15/16 weeks.

Kte - Earl seemed to like banana (Jo- I'm not a big fan of banana. They are ok I suppose but I'm not a fan of fruit in general if I'm honest. Apples and grapes are in the fridge all the time but that's about it.) - it seemed to go down ok at least lol. So far the veggies have gone down best....got brocolli to try tonight. It doesn't look the most appetising in ice-cube form but I'm sure it will taste ok :S lol

Per - I hope that you and Annabelle are doing well. :flower:

Earl is 4 Months old today  Once hubby is awake (I let him sleep in when he's at work late lol) we're going to get the weighing scales out so we can put him weight into his baby book. I need to take a piccy too. But, I was looking through all our photos yesterday (we're trying to get some of them developed....we've got nearly 8000 pictures on the hard drive and none of them in hard copy! :dohh:) and I found these. Thought it was funny to look at how he's grown.

Have a lovely day ladies xx :hugs:

Morning ladies. We had a VERY early start this morning! James was shattered last night so was screaming for his bath at 5.45pm and was sound asleep in bed at 6.30pm. So then he was awake at 4.30am! Fed him at about 5am cos he just wouldn't go back to sleep. Got nice and sleepy at 6am so back in his cot he went....and slept for a whole nother 30 frickin minutes! So I have been up since 4.30am and am shattered. And to top it off I am at work all weekend so no chance of any catch up. Damn and damn.

Morning all,

Oo, forgot to say yesterday re food: Aimee, I agree with the jars, we will use them like the emergency cartons as a just in case if we are out and about. I intend to make up and freeze most of her food and pop them in transportable containers. The book I bought has receipes where food that can be eaten cold too, as well as food to warm up. (Obviusly durh, finding it hard to explain myself today!) I don't want her living off the things but I would use them if need be. Just read what Sam put about it not tasting nice tho . . . Hmm wonder if a different brand would make a difference? Not sure if it does but I aim to use the Hipp food, need to take my Nutrition friend-in training along to scrutanise the lables a bit more first!

Sam ~ Glad Chloe is settled in her new school  Its not easy going back to work, I am at work now  Full time from Monday! It's just so hard being dragged back into 'reality' :hugs: I'm just going to look forward to the quality time I get in the evenings and on weekends.

Aimee ~ Happy 4 Months to Earl :happydance: We are just as bad with the photos! I drad to count them and there are always more that need to be transferred to the PC from the camera or our phones! Bought so many photo albums and really need to get some printed off to put in them. We made a start but ran out of ink . . . and then money lol

LK ~ :hugs: He must have known your away at the weekend and wants to spend as much time as possible with you.

I was listening to the radio this morning on the way into work and they were on about a bus driver that had chucked a woman off the bus for 'indecent exposure'. It turned out she was breastfeeding her 6 week old baby and someone complained so the bus driver chucked her off the bus in the rain! I was flabbergasted! I loved what the presenters were saying though, they were really sticking up for BF Mums. They were saying if people have a problem then they should be the ones to move as it's their problem so they don't have to witness it if they don't want to, (the woman was discretly BF too) but the best bit was when someone text in and said 'There is a time and a place for breastfeeding' and one of the presentes got all agited (a male one at that) and said 'yes, the time is when your baby is hungry, and the place is where ever you happen to be when your baby is hungry!' Good on them I say!

Right best get on with some work!

Kte - Yeah I think he did. He went down for a nap at about 9.30am and has been asleep since. Think its cos he went to bed so early last night. He was shattered so was in bed sound asleep at 6.40pm ish. And good on that presenter for his comment!

I forgot quite how tedious these benefit forms are! Trying to fill out the Child Tax Credits form (aparantly I earn too much for Working Tax Credits!) and man they wanna know the in's and out's of a cats backside!

Awful week - OH blacked out on Weds night. I found him on the lounge floor. He was watching the Chelsea match and I was upstairs in bed and heard a bang. Went downstairs and there he was on his hands and knees and didn't have a clue how he got there. He has a chest infection and is on antibiotics (he is NEVER ill so this is a huge thing), and he has to do a 24-hr ECG on Monday to see whether a cardiac prob caused him to collapse. He can't drive obviously, can't work, can't do sod all to be honest, just in case. On top of all of that, he also has to go to the hospital in a week to see a consultant about another issue that is scaring the poo out of me. Meanwhile, Monty also has chest infection but for now they're holding off giving antibiotics as would rather not give drugs unless essential. Monty meant to have jabs yesterday but obviously they didn't do them. Me ... I had a chesty thing last week but fingers xd that seems to be going. But of course I'm absolutely knackered having to deal with both the boys. Mum wanted to come up but I'd rather she didn't as I don't want her to catch anything and then pass it on to my grandparents. Will see how we get on over weekend.

And the weather's shite.

Hope you're all having better week than we are. Sorry but I can't read back through all the posts, so I dont' have a clue what I've missed. Be back in a few days xx

Huge :hugs: Colsy. Really hope your OH is okay and that Monty's chest heals up soon xx :flower:

I randomly passed out last November time for no reason but have been okay since so let's hope nothing more is up with your OH x

That's made me feel a lot better Kte, so big thanks. Were you scared of carrying Chloe in the days after passing out? I think that's my biggest worry at the mo, that OH will be holding Monty and then drop him. I can't watch him constantly cos he just gets irritated with me, saying I don't trust him etc. which is understandable. My OH is VERY independent and really hates people faffing over him when he is ill, so of course he is not happy right now. Did you have to have an ECG after you passed out, or did they just say it was one of those things and it shouldn't happen again?

:hugs: colsy, hope OH finds out what caused it soon, does he get migraines? I sometimes pass out with those.

LK I need to do tax credits *groan* wont get much with OHs wage. Hope work flies by for you, how is it going now?

Headache is back with a vengeance today :grr: Off out shopping in a bt when OH has got the hire car so im hoping a bit of fresh air will clear my head (I think im not eating enough im only managing small breakfast, bowl of soup for lunch then evening meal OH says I need more with the BFing) Im dropping weight which I quite like

Kte that lady who was chucked off a bus they are even talking about it on This Morning, I BF everywhere and plan to continue to do so.

I dont mind jars i'd rather make my own food but I have got some organic jars in. Mum is bringing me a small freezer tomorrow which is handy has the regular freezer has a drawer full of EBM in it now.

TBH I just put my feed up for the day and thought if anything else happens I would go to the doc's but it didn't so I didn't get checked out. I just stayed inside and pretty much sat down! Bit naughty of me really, I should have got it checked out properly. Nij was about and so I had his support and I was happy just knowing he was around if something did happen. It's worrying but good they are checking out your OH, it's prob just likely to rule things out to be on the safe side x

LK / Maffie ~ Not bothering with Child Tax Credits, we no entitled to much, if anything. We are typically the kind of people who statistically miss out even though they would realistically help! The amount we would get if any, its not worth the time & paperwork!!

Maffie ~ Hope the fresh air helps your head. What organic food jars do you have?

BF wise, I suppose it's helped get the issue out in the open. It's just a shame there is a lot of narrow mindedness out there. It struck me as odd that they are promoting BF to expectant mums but not tackling the general public as well. Might be an idea. If your baby is hungry and you BF you have every right to feed them no matter where. Not doing so is the equivalent of me just not feeding Chloe her bottle when we go out when she is hungry, sheer madness! It's not fair letting a baby go hungry anyways! Lol mini rant over!

Huge hugs colsy! I really hope that you're all ok and that you feel better soon. I used to black out all the time.....Docs have no idea what caused it but I've noticed it's come back a little bit since having Earl but I can tell when it's going to happen so I get off my feet as soon as I feel wobbly......happened once when I was driving which wasn't good as I was on the motorway but I managed to pull over and regain control. I hope that it's all ok for your OH. :hugs:

Earl is being a tearaway today....he stole some marmite toast off daddy's plate again (really should keep him away from our plates for the time being lol) and he's had a bit of nappy rash so is spending the majority of his time on his playmat in the buff today lol. Good job the house seems to be holding it's heat despite the rain.....at least I think it is. I'm keeping an eye on the thermometer just in case as at the moment I just feel permanently cold.

Still no news on the job....drat lol. Today is the deadline so I suppose i should just wait and see for next week. Highly doubt it but ther's always an outside chance. Would be very very nice lol. Obviously don't want to leave Earl but he would be spending his days with his Daddy. Also have to find a house but our credit rating is awful and I'm slightly worried about the references  Not sure how that will go. otherwise, we will have to go and live with MIL until we find somehwere, which is a 3 hour round trip from where the job is, which means I wouldn't see Earl at all during the week  I think I'm worrying too much lol. :dohh: If it's meant to be, it will be!

Best go and make myself some Lunch. Maffie - sounds like you may need to eat a bit more. When I was PG I went through loads of headaches and when I looked I wasn't eating much at all. I added a couple of cup a soups to my day and it seemed to work.

Oh my life....Earl has discovered a new noise. It permanently sounds like he's pooing......lovely, and confusing. He's had me running in all day so far as obviously, without a nappy, it wouldn't be great lol. Speaking of which, time for him to eat.....again! lol

Have a nice afternoon girls. :hugs:
