Well he was shattered and had a couple of hours sleep, I couldnt get to sleep though  so ive done the washing up, 4 loads of washing, put all the rubbish and recycling out. This isn't how I thought i'd spend my first Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day ladies! :hugs:

I hope everyone is being spoiled and having a special day! It's not mother's day in north america until the second Sunday in May so I have to wait a little while longer :)

Maffie- Enjoy your special day with Noah :hugs: I hope Noah's gums aren't bothering him too much. I love Emma's teething necklace- there have been probably 3 evenings in the past 3 months of teething where the pain was too much for even the necklace and I've resorted to giving her infant tylenol, but overall, it's worked really well and been a good purchase. I've never used teething gels (they aren't recommended here) but I've heard good things about the teething powders.

Nij and Kte- Chloe looks so cute in her new outfit with Mummy's pressies :) She is getting big too!

Aimee- Enjoy your little break from job hunting and holiday planning :) Anything special planned yet for your holiday?

Yesterday's trip to Toys R Us was successful- I got a baby swing for our backyard, a pile of pelican bibs, plastic spoons, sippy cups and socks. Everything was on sale though, so I felt pretty good about the trip- all ready for weaning and playing in the backyard now  We went to my parents house for dinner and I decided to let Emma play with some food BLW style. I figure if she wants to play with the food and it keeps her happy enough for us to enjoy our meal, then we'll start unofficially weaning. We let her play with carrots, celery, rice (ended up all over the carpet under the highchair :dohh:) and a banana for dessert. There was lots of smearing, throwing, licking, gnawing and drooling but no real eating. At this rate, the food is only going to make it into the stomach around 6 mths anyway, lol. Anyway, I should get going and find some breakfast while Emma is still a happy camper. Hope everyone is having a good day! :hugs:

Sorry your day isnt going according to plan Maffie.

Our day was a case of getting Chloe up and dressed in her new outfit, and Chloe delivering the card to Kte (quite supprised the card wasnt thrown or dropped anywhere enroute).
Then we went to church for mothers day service (my mum :( and dad :) came with us) which Chloe found very amusing, and giggled most of the way through the service.

Sorry its not the correct way round!

Evening everyone :flower:

Mother's day has been lovely. Hubby has made my breakfast (pancakes and maple syrup), lunch (cream cheese on toast) and tea (spaghetti bolognese) for me today, and we've had fun on the wii and went for a walk in the sunshine. All jolly nice. I got a lovely card from Earl and one from the dog lol, and a Heart's Greatest Hits CD!

Well, I've officially put BLW down as a bust. Flora had problems with choking....I on the other hand have a demanding child that even though he's quite capable of handling finger foods and will happily sit and munch on Organix snacks and sticks of pepper, would not at all put up with just being given bits of garlic breac, red pepper and bolognese sauce on pasta for his tea. Oh no, if it's not on a spoon, it's not good enough! We had a similar ordeal at breakfast when after his porridge, he was presented with bits of pancake smeared with peach puree and nope......not a quick enough delivery system lol. So it looks like we're TW. At least we know now lol, and I'm now glad that I went out and bought bowls, spoons and sippy cups now lol.

Anyhoo's, time to head off to watch Hubby try to complete Mariokart Wii, and we're going to sort through our entire photograph collection tonight, and hopefully send them all off to be printed in the morning ......lets-a go!!!! (anyone who's played mario kart should get that).

Hope we're all ok and we've had a nice day. I'll reply more tomorrow when I have a bit more time. Lovely Mother's day everyone and hugs!! :hugs:

Evening ladies! Hope everyone has had a lovely mothers day. I unfortunately was working so have missed it! But I got a photo message from my mum of James with a bunch of flowers for me lol. Been an absolutely mental weekend at work so totally don't have the energy for a long message. Nighty night girlys.

Happy Mother's Day everyone :flower:
Hope you've all had a lovely day. Mine was ok. Got a card from Harry/OH & a takeaway treat for dinner, and my mum came to visit & bought me a card too and a little blue china rocking horse ornament for Harry's bedroom & a Peter rabbit book for him too, which was nice. My dad sent me a nice text msg done as if it was from harry (the fool, lol) & then my sister & her 2 kids came round too... Meant I got no housework done today, lol, but did manage to undercoast the upstairs doorframes while Harry was sleeping thisevening, so at least i feel like I accomplished something today.

Aimee- i think we might go the TW route tbh now too. I'm just not tough enough to do BLW for now, so I figure soft foods, purees n mash is the way ahead for now, then introduce finger foods & promote self feeding as & when I feel he's ready. He's great at feeding himself with a spoon if I load it up for him, so I feel like this could be better for us & for my nerves, lol. For now, we're 'giving up' weaning for another week or so, because I really want to be sure he's ready & that I'm doing the right thing by him. He doesn't seem to care either way tbh!!!

Morning girlies. Feeling a little more human after about 6 hours sleep. Interrupted sleep but hey sleep is sleep lol. James has downed a 7oz bottle this morning :happydance: so I am feeling a little better all in all about him. Although he has a horrible chesty cough. He is sat playing in his bouncer right now winding up for his porridge. He tried some spinach for the first time for dinner last night (told mum sweet potato but the dippy cow couldn't find it so he got spinach lol). He seemed to like it but man did it make him fart!

Ooo some news on the FOB front....James's dad MAY be driving to Swindon tomorrow to meet us and see James. He was using the excuse that his car is still not fully fixed so not fit for motorway driving....so I pointed out he could easily get to Swindon without using the motorway. So as he reckons he is too tired today to make the drive he is letting me know later about tomorrow. Says he is most likely coming but we will see

Going over to my sisters at 5.30pm when mum finishes work. Its my nephews 8th birthday today! When did he get so big?! So taking mum and the presents over later.

Hey girls, Hope you had lovely M's day yesterday! We were up in Norwich at the in-laws where we're moving to in a month. We're going to be staying with in-laws for a couple of months before we rent somewhere..eeek wonder how that's going to be!

We visited a nursery which the girls will go to in a lovely village just outside the city so we've pretty much decided that's where we going to try and buy a house in time, good schools for later on too.

I got a lovely card, flowers and huge Wispa Easter Egg for M's day (yes I know it's early but who can say no to chocolate?!)

I'd second Ashton and Parsons powders for the teething, rub them into their gums seems to work well. If you ever get hold of a green Tiny Love bangle type thing with little rings on it (it comes from a Tiny Love Play Mat) that worked wonders for Lily, I'm gutted because I can't find it now for Isla.

Have a good day.

xx

Morning all.

Felling crappy, so is Nij and I can't get through to the doctors. Joy. CM frustrating again, so much so too much to write so :hugs: for all, hope your all having a better day.

Hope you feel better soon. Hope the drs pick up soon. Monday mornings are always a nightmare to get through xx

Got through, nearly full but got in at 5 past 5! hurray!

Morning All!

I'm after a bit of advice, How did you change from breast to bottle? CC will not take formula milk? Need to change her due to medication...

What bottle teats do you have? We have the Tommee Tipee closer to nature? Perhaps that might help? Is a certain formula she doesn't like?

Sorry no other advice really as Chloe was so young and not really used to either :hugs:

Morning all well cancelled jabs again Noah is no better and keeps being sick so got docs tomorrow.

kte hope the cm behaves i can come sort her out :haha: feel better soon.

eswift have you tried different bottles Noah wont use tt bottles but will avent. also have you tried mixing bm with formula or try a different formula.

Maybe its the formula she doesnt like? You can wean her over slowly. When we are putting babies onto formula we start with 3/4 EBM and 1/4 formula, then 1/2 and 1/2, then 1/4 EBM and 3/4 formula then full formula. Will take a few days but usually works quite well to get them used to the taste.

eswift, sorry no advice from me as H will take formula or ebm just fine. I have noticed he is shockingly bad with certain teats though, so if you could try a few, that might help?

Kte, aren't Drs crap? I hate how you can never get a blimming app when you need one :(

Panda, where in Norwich are you moving to? My dad & all my aunts & uncles & grandparents still live there, so i go up regularly to visit. I grew up in a lovely village called Taverham  There's tons for kids to do in Norwich too :)

ugh, H is crying at the mirror now, lol. Better go sort him out!

Hey Flora,

My in-laws live in Norwich itself and we're thinking of moving to a village called Mulbarton, which is 5 miles South of Norwich. I've heard of Taverham. I've got a part-time teaching post at Trowse Primary school which is also just outside Norwich.

My first wouldn't take a bottle for ages, I found lying her flat on the floor helped in the end..wierd I know!

Re teething - there's this rubber giraffe toy called 'Sophie the Giraffe' (looks like a dog's squeaky toy!) apparently it's Frances best kept secret. Never tried it but seen a lot of happy babies chewing on them in prams where we live. They're pretty expensive mind.

xx

Oooh, Monty has a Sophie. My friend who we visited last weekend (and who gave me the tummy bug from hell, LOL) bought Sophie for Monty's first Xmas. And he LOVES it. It just looks like a rubber toy, but seriously this could be becoming his first real toy that has to go everywhere with us. It IS a teething toy, but it simply keeps him amused for ages. Plus it amuses us as he decides whether he fancies an ear, the jawbone or a rear leg to eat.
