Good luck with the move Aimee we got snowed in when we moved in winter.... removal firm next time me thinks, although I think my next move will be a biggie

Noah had his cot lowered to the bottom yesterday as he was putting his feet through the bars to stand on my mattress :dohh: He seems to of become suer active in the last few weeks.

Flora Noah just stays naked as much as possible in this heat, think the aircon might go on if it gets hotter.

He's sleeping in with me tonight though, so hopefully he'll be a bit better as our room is a lot cooler.

Same here, Monty's room faces south-east so it's boiling come the evening. Our lounge is, annoyingly, the coldest room by far, and each evening I have to nestle into the sofa and put on my woolly Nepalese socks! I wish you luck with your co-sleeping tonight. Monty now needs to crawl backwards every ten mins or so, regardless of where he is and regardless of whether he is sleeping. So when he comes in with us in the early morning, he actually crawls backwards in his sleep, and of course then we have to wake ourselves up properly to make sure he don't fall off the end!

It's very odd to think that we've been here for 3.5 years - growing up we used to move once every 6months or so (went to 11 primary schools!!)

Eleven primary schools? That's two a year! How on earth did you ever manage to make friends? Quickly, I guess! Am guessing you were a forces child?

oh my god the size of some of those spiders - they're now residing in my vacuum cleaner!!

Awww  I'm a semi-reformed arachnophobe. Before we went travelling I actually had hypnotherapy to help me overcome my spider fears, because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle life in the Tropics otherwise. Girls, if you're scared of things with eight legs, seriously hypnotherapy can work wonders.

Morning all,

Just been invigilating (exam resits time), was supposted to be there until one but the student finished early - yey :D :coffee: time!

LK: Naughty Naughty! Hope the move and the christening go well :flower:

Jo: Did I say congrats about Sam's teeth? If not, a belated :happydance: for you / him :flower:

Flora: Daytime, inside I have the windows open and Chloe in just a vest. Night time, she is in a vest or just her nappy with the window open. I have used a fan in the room before (not directed at her, just to circulate the air in the room). Congrats on Harry sleeping 2 nights! I wasn't so lucky but never mind lol

Aimee: Super good luck with the remainder of the move! :flower: I like your spider technique :haha: when there lots I can't cope. We used to have a caravan and one year I woke to an egg sac that had opened, mini spiders EVERYWERE! Not good!

Well I had best get one with some work! x

Hi. Hope everyone is ok. AGAIN I have been keeping up with what you are all doing but not posted anything myself! I am just soooo rubbish!

Got a meeting with work on Thursday about arrangements when I return in October and just hoping I can do what I want. Hope to amend my hours to work 8.30 to 4.30 Monday to Thursday and have Friday's off and had thought could just discuss this with my immediate boss but she wants to meet with me and HR! Think I will be happier working 4 days a week to give me a day to just do fun things with Phoebe and not having to do cleaning etc just hope they will let me! Know they are really busy at the moment but are keen to have me back as have difficulty getting good staff so fingers crossed!

Been reading your posts re moving Aimee with interest as our house is on the market and although nothing happening with it at the moment am trying to sort what I can as knowing my luck will end up having to move either just before I go back to work or when back at work! Trying to sort loft at the moment but not easy when Phoebe only has one half hour nap a day - two if I'm really lucky!

Hope we all have a good day

:hi: all.

I had a scary night last night... went up to bed at about midnight, just got all snuggly & settled when suddenly the sensor monitor in harry's cot went off... it's done it a couple of times before when he's gone horizontal right at the top, so i just assumed that's what had happened & before, within seconds, the alarm has woken him up n all's well... not this time though! i ran through & he was face down into the matress, not breathing. i had to flp him over & shakes him for a few seconds before he breathed in again. i was totally freaked out, so i woke him up properly to make sure he was ok... he looked shell shocked, lol. his face was also caked in lovely snot.... nice!
so, he was fine, but appears to have a stinking cold today, poor thing. kinda gross having to pick your son's nose :dohh: nasosal here we come, lol.
thankgod we have that monitor...

anyways.... hope the rest of the move goes smoothly aimee.
and thanks for the tips on keepin cool. he lives in just vests at the moment, no covers in his cot, i'm offering cool water & freezing his teething toys & we have a very un-eco friendly fan in the lounge too... am hoping that does the trick; he's such a sweaty betty at night time tho!

Ooooh, hope Harry is better ASAP. You got me worried now. Since Monty learned to roll, he's slept on his tummy every night. There's nowt I can do about it - I lie him on his back and he's twisting over on to his front before I've even got him on the mattress. Thankfully, so far, he's always laid with his head to one side. We only use the monitor when we're downstairs and he's in bed, and even then it's an ancient sound-only one so we can hear him crying, so we probably wouldn't hear if he wasn't breathing. Ummmm ...

Good morning ladies!

Hope everyone is well :) Nothing too exciting going on here. We finished our last baby signing class yesterday so we're all done this round of baby classes. I probably won't bother enrolling us in anything else this summer though. Emma has finally learned how to do a proper forward crawl. She's been on the verge for almost a month, but finally put down her toys, freed up her hands and started to crawl the other day. Until now she's always attempted while holding onto blocks and other toys, making it unsuccessful, lol :) She's started doing this annoying head-butt though-whenever I'm trying to prepare a meal and she wants to be picked up, she'll crawl up to my legs and head butt me until I finally pick her up. She's also still pulling herself up to standing on everything except the bars of the crib  Right now she's trying to figure out how to crawl up the steps to our sunken livingroom.
I think for the rest of the week, I'm starting to get stuff ready for a long weekend of camping. I figure it'll take me all week to find everything we need and get organized :haha: My parents have a trailer (caravan) that they keep at a park a few hours away and use it like a summer cottage. We're bringing a tent to the park and are going to ease ourselves into camping by keeping them close by, lol. I figure if we forget anything, as long as it isn't baby related, there is a good chance they can lend it to us. I'm looking forward to camping there though- I grew up spending my summers there and a lot of the families of the kids I grew up with are still there, and they are kinda like extended family. One of the other girls had a baby in October too so it could be fun if they are there.

What are everyone's babies' favourite toys atm? Just looking for more toy ideas for Emma. Right now she loves her blocks, all animals (bath toys and stuffed ones), her Fisher Price Little People school set and her xylophone. I noticed that she is using the blocks like little cars, pushing them along the floor so I suggested to hubby that she might like a toy car  He seemed excited at the prospect of buying a boy's toy.

Aimee- hope the final stages of your move go smoothly. We moved in the winter and had to deal with snowy feet tracking dirt into the house but summer doesn't sound any better. I think moving sucks no matter what time of year, lol :)

Chaos- hope Autumn's bum is healing and your MS isn't too bad :hugs:

LK- good luck with your move!

Flora- Yikes- that must have been scary! Hope Harry's cold clears quickly :hugs: We've been keeping the AC on so the house is cooler for Emma and we've got a finished basement so we spend time down there playing since it's always cooler than the rest of the house. It's funny that so many of the bumpkin babies are in the hottest rooms of their houses. Emma's room is always the hottest too.

Maffie- glad to hear your scan went well :hugs: I'm intrigued re: the big move- move to Canada and Noah and Emma can meet, lol :)

Kte- Hope Chloe sleeps through for you again- must have been nice for a couple nights!

Colsy- saw your post in the BFing section- hope Monty gives up his strike soon :hugs:

Sam- hope being back to work is going smoothly :hugs:

Bingers- hope your work meeting goes well!

Sorry if I missed anyone! Time for my second cup of coffee... :)

Kaites, I want an absolutely full report on your camping trip please. We're prob having to sell our VW camper  but we're considering going back to 'proper' camping instead. I just need somebody else to do it first, so I can hear whether it's as tough as you might think with a baby :winkwink:

Kaites: Chloe loves cars! We bought a mix of toys as I was such a tom boy when I was little, playing with cars and trains myslef lol I'm quite happy for her to play with both. At the moment she loves balls, rattles, things that rattle lol and her soft toys - she has a babies first doll she she abosolutely loves becasuse it rattles too and has fun patterns on its feet and some patches feel like label material. Camping sounds fun! Nij wanted us to go camping this year but seen as the first chance we will get is October erm perhaps it will be a little too cold! Hope you find all your stuff :D

Flora: Oo glad Harry is okay, that must of been a fright. Chloe does what Monty does except she doesn't move her face to the side  I try and shift her when I can. I hate it when she does it. Hope his runny nose clears up soon :flower:

Will do :) The VW camper would be ideal for camping with a baby! Last year when we camped at the campground, I was asking friends of our family how they did it when their kids were little since I remember them camping with both their LOs when they were tiny and they had a tiny car too. She said that for a bassinet, they used a kiddie pool inside the tent. I don't think I feel comfortable putting Emma in a paddling pool as a bed (thinking of her wedging her face into the walls, not being able to breathe) but our tent is massive so I'm trying to brainstorm ways to improvise a bed for her. I really don't know how we are going to fit all our camping gear AND all the baby gear in our small car  I'm probably insane for contemplating it, but I'm also trying to decide if I want to bring cloth nappies. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes

Kte- Ohh, trains- good idea  I had a mix of toys growing up too. So did my brother- my grandmother used to buy him lots of Cabbage Patch Kids too :haha:

The VW camper would be ideal for camping with a baby!

It's only a two-berth van, and OH and I find the bed really tiny anyway so there's no way we could all three of us sleep in it. OH would have to sleep in the awning :haha: Also, the seats aren't original and there are lots of seatbelt/baby carseat issues. Plus she's over 30 years old, so built when car safety wasn't such an issue with brakes etc. If we lived somewhere with wider roads and fewer cars (such as Canada!) we'd be far more inclined to keep her. I shall miss her so much when we finally sell, but we will keep the money to one side for one of My Future Projects (got three in mind:winkwink:) so there are positive things as well. If she goes to a good home, then I can handle it.

I guess being 30+yrs old, safety would be a concern. I like the idea of having an extra area to sleep in case it rains since tenting in the rain isn't much fun. My godmother had a VW camper too and they were sad when they finally had to sell theirs. They definitely got good use out of it though- I think their last road trip was from Ottawa out to the west coast (insanely long drive!). At least if you sell yours, you've got some other projects in mind that will benefit from it too :)

Kaites if you dont want to use cloth when camping do you have any flip nappies? They do bamboo inserts that biodegradable and fit inside the flip nappies. Ive found they are quite good and they can be composted.

Just back from the hospital as Noah isnt well, went to a walk in centre but they couldnt see him until late this evening (so much for eing an emergency walk in centre) anyway popped into childrens a&e as we had a rash, no wet nappies and incredibly grumpy, narky and just not himself.
They said it looked a little like heat rash but was likely to be a viral infection. They said dont push solids but lots and lots to drink and if he gets any worse go back. Only 2 wet nappies today which isnt like Noah. He's finally nodded off after sobbing and grumping all afternoon.

I hope Noah is feeling better soon :hugs:

I don't have any flips but I'm contemplating bringing some flats/prefolds and a couple pul covers for daytime since they would pack small and I could wash them out and hang to dry easily and use 'sposies at night. We're only going for 3 days but I worry that Emma's skin might protest 3 days of continual 'sposies  We've used cloth dipes when staying in hotels for the weekend so in theory, it shouldn't be hard- it's just having room in the car that might be the issue. Now I'm starting to think ahead to meals and realize we mostly eat junk when camping so that'll have to change this time round too- geesh, a baby really does complicate life, lol :haha:

even in the static caravan we camped in, it is CRAZY how much stuff a baby needs or MIGHT need while away! We have 2 tents & a whole bunch of camping gear in the garden shed; I've been trying to persuade Craig to let us go camping this summer, but he hates the idea... I grew up camping, was a girl guide & lived on cheap beach side camp sites for endless summer's as a kid, so it seems normal to me, but he's used to massive trip across USA, Canada, Australia etc... his idea of a cheap holiday & mine are VERY different ends of the spectrum, lol!

Harry seems fine in himself. Just snotty. I've been giving him nasosal drops to help clear it & have plugged the carvol thingy in in his room. I think maybe it's the heat that's made him all stuffy... I'm reluctant to leave his wondow open at the night as his room is at the front of the house & he's only got a big, person sized window that opens, unlike the little ones & big ones in all the other rooms...

Colsy, Harry was the same, the second he learned to roll over, he started sleeping on his front. At first, he would tolerate me turning him onto his back without waking up, but now, he wakes up the second I enter the room, lol, so I dont even check on him anymore... which is why I love the sensor mat monitor, as everytime it flashes, I know that's a breath & if there's no breathing or movement for more than 20 seconds, the alarm goes off. I trust in that damn thing a bit too much I think, but I'm soooo not ready to do without it, especially since if we're downstairs, you cant hear anything upstairs & vice versa... (which is why it amazes me how bloody loud OH can be in the mornings when he's here!)

anyways... better go have a bath...

Oh & note to self & other BLWers... next time I give scrambled egg on toast, remember to lay the splash mat on the floors first & somehow find a way to 'stick' the egg to the toast a bit better. What a MESS!!!!!!! :dohh:

Having been told Phoebe would have her 7 - 9 month check when she was about 13 months old due to staff shortages I received a phone call today inviting me to take her for this tomorrow! She is not yet 9 months old so was a bit surprsied by this. Know there was a discussion about this review a few days ago but wondered if anybody had had the review and if so what it involved? Thanks x

no idea, lol. But I hope it goes well! You'll have to come back & let us know what they do :) Where I live, they only do the 8 week check & 12 month check, so it'll be ages before we get it.

Morning all,

Kaites: He he Cabbage Patch Kids! I used to have one of those too. My nephew had a baby Annabel a few years ago, had a little pram for it and everything. Train wise I used to have Thomas the Tank ones and for Chloe we have bought some of those ones with a magnet on the end that go on wooden tracks. It was a bargain at a market stall as they can be pretty pricy. I just had to attach a picture of my birthday cake when I was 4 now lol - my Mum and Dad made it.

Maffie: Hope Noah feels better soon :flower: I know what you mean about so called emergencies, when Chloe had blood in her nappy I called up our GP (as they normally squeese in babies in an emergency) in the morning and they gave me a 5.20 appointment! So off to A&E we went!

Bingers: I'm not sure what happens either sorry, I was wondering about if we have to have them and then all of a sudden I got a letter saying they want to see us next week  Hope it goes well and you can fill us in on what happens! :flower:

Flora: I was going to give Chloe a bit of egg the other day but after I cooked it it smelt funny so I changed my mind, thanks for the warning! I need to get some sort of mat too.
