OK cake in oven. It's a 38cm tin (like a roaster haha) how long that likely to take???

I put a few cupcakes in too as had lots of mix, but am i right in thinking opening the oven can wreck a cake??? so the mini cakes can go burn lol i need the big one right...

You girls do know that you can buy a complete cupcake decorating kit from thecraftcompany for about £8 dont you? It comes with 4 or 5 nozzles, disposeable bags and a little mini guide. Bargain!!

Mine and Andreas favourite shop

LOL!
I seen a cupcake decorating kit in ASDA for £3 the other day! It would probably be shit though.
I remember seeing a cupcake book in a book shop that had tons of different cases with it for about £11, so that and the cupcake kit ....£20 then all you need is ingredients!!

awww thats good then katie and bump! i didnt have any of the tools when i started cake making, i smoothed the icing on with my bear hands!! i havent had my cake smoother all that long really!!

sam louise, your right!! dont open the oven till the cake is almost done, it can sink in the middle!! xx

i know, im so lucky to hve the shop so close...just sent OH to get me more fondant lol and iv got a cake in the oven :happydance:
Pics later :D

Does it make all that mich of a difference if u have a smoother or use your hands? xxxx

I nearly did my last cake with no smoother cos I lost mine (had fallen out of the back of the kitchen drawer!)

Hmm ok it didn't rise very much, if it all

What did't i do lol!

6oz SRF
6oz Csugar
6oz storky stuff ;)
3 eggs

made 2 lots and put it on one tin as one lot wasnt enough! lol! From what i read you don't need baking powder if your using SRflour?

thanks for that shop link holly and andrea, just made a little order, do some fab stuff :D

i love looking at everyone's creations! i'm sooooo impressed :D i had a good weekend of baking, the giant cupcake and lots of cupcakes, though my icing still isn't how i would like it :dohh: oh well, lots of practising for me, and eating for OH

Girls, how do i get my cupcakes to have nice swirls like these??? :flower:

thanks :D
im just looking online to order new goodies :D

oh quick question, can i freeze my cupcakes, even if they have been iced?

mmmmm those cupcakes look sooo yummy *licks lips*
:)
nessajane, the swirls are done with a piping bag i believe and i think for cupcakes your meant to use the biggest nozzle possible...i think lol - im not very good at cupcakes...or cakes for that matter  xxx

Really? wish i'd known that. I love that shop too.

Well it didn't rise that great, I guessed at butter icing stuff, but overall it isn't too bad haha!

Need to learn about:-
making it rise, so i can fill them in the middle,
how to stick the shapes on top of fondant
find a local shop/online where i can get coloured icing

and make it smaller so i can fit the antenna on :haha:

thanks for your help this morning girls, still think i'll get a pro to do her 1st bday one now lol!
