Cake Making & Baking Group

cool! thanks ladies i will ry it at 190 and just keep an eye on it which will be easier said than done as my oven has NO light in it! lmao its so crap! and it only has one shelf in it so i will have to cook one half and then the other!
cooking dinner is a nightmare!
 
I might make some more ice cream cupcakes when Brooke is in bed, dunno if i can be arsed to make easter ones :lol:
 
squidge - i think yours over flowed due to putting too much mixture in? i only 3/4 fill the cases. i use the basic sponge mixture to make my regular cupcakes :D

blahh can't wait to see! bet it looks fab!

Yeah i think so too :rofl: Wheres the basic sponge mixture? I've only seen the one on the learn to bake thread :shrug: Unless i'm being a numpty....:haha:

I will try and decorate them and post pics anyway....you can all laugh :D I did :rofl:

oh hon, we wont laugh, bet they are great :D it all takes practise :D i can bake fine, decorating on the other hand :dohh:

lol blah! i've just used that recipie to make 2 sandwich sized sponges lmao you'd be making cupcakes till this time tmrw with that much mixture! hehe!

Tho mine seems to be going ok... just the top is burning so i dunno what to do? its def not cooked in the middle yet as its still wobbly! humph i hate my oven!

how strange, what temp do you have them at?
mybe put a bit of foil on the top to stop them catching anymore x
 
190 its sat slap bang in the middle of the oven too so it is baffling me! have taken your advise and covered it with tin foil! ive not baked a cake in 4 years lol and the one i baked then was not brilliant but my step son loved it!

The stripes are CRAP and amelie stuck her fingers into the white one :rofl: hopefully the ribbon will cover up those bits.

cakes lovely thought light and fluffy and lemon faloured just like i wanted it but it didn't come out of the tin at all well! i greased the bottom and sides of the tin with butter... so i dont get it! any ideas ladies?

and Blah your cakes are awesome!!
 
wow i love the red and black colour theme hun....cant wait to see it when its finished.

Girls i need your help please......i have heard it mentioned on here before about weighing your eggs and matching that weight for the flour, butter and sugar...is that right? If i wanted to make it a chocolate one would i substitute some flour for cocoa?

oops!
did you let it cool before you tried to get it out?
maybe line with greaseproof paper, I'm not much help as I use either loose bottomed or silicone cake tins

Sometimes i substitute and sometimes I just whack it in :blush:
If i substitute i usually use an ounce of cocoa and take an ounce of flour away
 
cheers jo, i think i may have been over keen with taking it out! with the net half i have used paper and buttered round it, saw the loose bottomed tins today and nearly got one! wish that i did now but nevermind! i will get one when i can next afford it!
tis all a learning curve!
