I've done my 2nd attempt at cupcakes today and i have to say.....i'm well impressed with myself :haha: They've not exploded

Just waiting for them to cool so i can decorate them then i'll upload some pics :)

fab cakes everyone - that dinosaur cake is amazing, it must've taken hours to do! For some reason the cases on my cupcakes seems to have flopped open, as if they had all been peeled away from the buns, does anyone know why this might happen, it didn't happen with my chocolate ones.

I'm going to make some cupcakes in a bit I think, having withdrawal symptoms cos haven't made any in ages!
All the cakes look lush ladies :)

Grrrr i'm so cheesed off! Flicked through my cupcake book and saw a recipe for buttercream so decided to use that one and it said 2 teaspoons of hot water, i didn't use water yesterday i used milk but anyway, put hot water in it and it melted the sodding thing! Instead of doing swirls like yesterdays, it just sunk :( They're now sat in the sodding fridge.

Ok would like a little help if I can please :)

It's my sisters 17th on the 15th and she has asked me to make a cake. I was thinking of doing a square cake with an 'L' plate on it as she will be learning to drive does this sound ok??

It is FIL birthday on the 17th and OH wants me to make a 'boob' cake for him  anyone have any other ideas?? Xx

kelly boob cakes are fairly straight forward, ive done a bum cake which is made in the same way, u just cook ur cake in a pyrex dish x

Well, here's my 2nd attempt. Actual cakes were good but buttercream went pear-shaped!

Pfffft!

that dino cake is awesome!

Holly, I did both cake mix and icing in strawberry  might attempt them again but strawberry and chocolate chip or something....

I got asked to do a cannabis leaf shaped cake tonight  think i can do it though:thumbup:

lol this page has taken a turn - boobs, bums and cannabis?
nom nom Squidge they look yummy :D xxx

LMAO Jac

I use Asda one Jo, i only put a couple of drops in the icing, but i do use a strawberry glaze aswell, so its subtle, but not too overpowering, as then it starts to taste atificial and not "real" strawberry like!!

Gosh busy busy bee's on the cake making front ... im still unsure about my stepdads Merc cake .. my only problem is if i do the logo by hand it'll be a bitch to get perfect, and i wont settle for it not being perfectly circular and straight ... so i dunno

Either that ... or i could make him a Rottweiler cake but i dont know how much of a mission that one will be, has anyone made a dog cake before?

Hi girls.... Firstly WOW! Your cakes all look lovely (I'm jealous  )

I have a very basic question for you (from my mum really lol!)

For years (literally!) my mum has used 4oz marg (stork), 4oz sugar, 4oz flour and 2 eggs to make simple fairy cakes - baked at 180 degrees. In this recipe she has often put either dried fruit or chocolate chips, and they have always turned out yummy(!) We also use the recipe for some larger cakes and have never had any trouble.
Over the last month, we have found that the chocolate chips have sunk to the bottom :dohh: We have always used Dr Oetker (which used to be supercook) chocolate chips and have always added them to the mixture last, using a spoon, just before baking.

We have now tried to coat the chocolate chips in flour, we tried sprinkling them onto the top of the cakes just as they were put into the oven and we have tried several different makes of chocolate chips (silver spoon, asda) yet the ALL sink to the bottom!

PLEASE please please can someone suggest something?! Maybe a different recipe, or something we can do to stop them from sinking!!

Feel free to pm me, and I thank you all in advance for any advice!

Happy Cake baking!
xxxxx
