Thanks, only im at a loss now lol
Iv had a last minute change of heart and now want to do a 2 tier...only that means i need to go out and get an 10" tin

Problem is iv set my heart on it now and if i dont im not gonna be happy with the cake...
so now i need to go out get cream, swiss rolls, a tin and some more butter :haha:
Only thing is tommys asleep and my mums asleep so she cant watch him while i pop out, so im going to have to wait...which means us crossing paths baking and cooking dinner. And having the time to let it cool before i decorate....argh...so the stress begins...xxx

Oh i love the cake and those cupcakes are brilliant! Love the way you've done the swirls,
Also i love your little boys name :winkwink::haha: xxxx

Gorgeous!!!

Cant believe Tommy is nearly 2!!

i use plastic straws :D I used them on a 3 tier before and it held.

lovely cakes and cupcakes girls :D

the castle cakes are really effective and don't look THAT hard to do (correct me if im wrong haha!) Looks like I have amelies 2nd birthday cake already

I was wondering about plastic straws too Kris. I used dowels on the easter cake but thought if straws work I'll use them instead.
I cant wait to see your finished cake....it looks like it s going to be ace!!!

I am cheating a little with Leo's cake as Ive ordered his train for the top off a lady on ebay that makes excellent sugar models:thumbup:

if you can get the clear plastic straws with the little spoon thing on the end they are the best...the ones youd get from macdonalds....just snip the spoon of and cut to size....you can use these for up to 3 tiers of sponge without worrying, for fruit cakes however id use dowels as i wouldnt risk it!
all my tiered cakes are using straws and i havent had a problem, even tommys one which was a 14" 11" 8" and 5" with toppers that were heavy and that was fine...i did thake the top tier off to give him just for his high chair though

i have started to use straws as dowels are a bit expensive for my liking!

I got some big straws from asda, they are like the madonalds ones in really bright colours.......Think i bought them to drink diet milkshakes!!!

i use them to support the lids of the cake boxes too when they are 2 tier :winkwink: Just stick some selotape on to hold the whole thing together and MUCH cheaper than stacked cake boxes!!

*phew*
the cake shop is shut today so im relying on sainsbo's to supply my last minute whims lol
do u mean the square ones form mcdonalds? or am i able to use normal drinking straws?
im doing chocolate on the bottom and plain sponge on top, 10" & 8" xxx

Hayley i love the cupcakes!! :cloud9:

Glitterfairy, im so sorry i missed your pics, i was in a strop!! The crunchie ones look delicous hun!!

Yeah i'd say an 8 and a 6 Jac .. 1 inch leeway really isnt much, so it'd give you half an inch either side of the tier onces its put on top which'll make it even less!!

Love it though, did you give up on the Yo Gabba Gabba idea

Only just yeah...I have the figures and everything...doh!
I wanted to do something a little more 'exciting' he doesn't even know who yo gabba gabba is.

Arggghhhhhhhhhhhh Ive just borrowed my 6 inch tin to Sammy! :dohh:
I think I'm going to put a sugarpaste train and carriage on the top instead of that cake..lol.

Im reading this with my hand over my mouth going SHIT IVE GOT IT!!!! Ill PM you money over hun, go get another one?

Just had a go at some buttercream with some new icing nozzles i got to try yesterday. 2 are lovely but one reminds me a little of a dog turd LOL.
Jack wanted green icing so they are rather bright!

I love the pink fairy castle. How pretty.

And the train cake and glittery cupcakes are fab
