sorry to randomly gatecrash...but how do you make buttercream icing?!
iv tried to make it a few times...but sometimes its waaaaaaay too runny, and others the icing sugar 'beads'up when i mix it with the butter even when iv sieved it, so its lumpy...what am i doing wrong?
I had a nightmare with my buttercream but now ive cracked it (i think) You need to be at least double + 1/2 your icing sugar to your butter. I find that using utterly butterly works best for me, but that personal choice. I usually do 100g butter and 250g icing sugar
Hope this helps and watch your kitchen aint too warm
I had another practice at cupcakes today and mini ones too using my new mini cupcake tin and theyre coming out nice and round like the bigger ones now! Lol
however.. I thought i would experiment and added green and red food colourings after sectioning off the cake mix into three.. And the green and plain looks good.. But the red was morrisons own and went grey!!!!!!
The green was thicker colouring by silverspoon. That came out a nice green.. Great for halloween!
But the red just is absolutely awful. Damn morrissons!
Partner is laughing his ass off currently calling them 'mould cakes'
Girlies don't know if its already been mentioned but B&M and Home & Bargains both have very cheap metal cupcake stands. I got one for £2.99 but not sure how many it holds - will check later.
And, I know Glitter will be impressed with this, B&M have a set of 2 cake tins with little cupcakes all over them for £1.99!
