Hey ladies.
I've been nosing at this thread for months until about a month ago I decidedt to start baking. This was my first attempt at a cake (for OH's sister who is 3 yr old )

Anyways, what I came in today for was to ask for ideas. I've been asked to bake for a community bingo thing on Saturday afternoon. I need ideas for simple home baking. So far I've got to do :

100 Cupcakes
Flapjacks
Rice Crispy Cakes
Shortbreak
Choco Topped Mallows

Any more ideas? xx

Like I said I'm not impressed at all with the topper on this cake, I hope I don't have to use one again.

i always love how your cupcakes are sooo bright and pretty, i wouldnt want to eat them and mess them up there too nice!

I did the Handy Manny cake with a topper and I am sooooo not impressed with it
also did 2 dozen cupcakes in brights, which looked ace if I do say so my self, I'll upload later though as can't be assed now

Also would a chocolate sponge cake covered in fondant be horrible? Cant say I've had chocolate cake with fondant before, only normal sponge.

Chocolate sponge & fondant is quite nice! My family like that best!

Just make the vespa outta modelling paste, or use gum trag mixed in with your fondant and its just a case of modelling it together? Sorry thats probably not much help - good luck xx

Hi ladies, I am after a bit of help (as usual),i have just finished making 2 cakes for a friend and I don't know how much to charge her. She has asked me to make them and charge her full price (not mates rates)

They are identical cakes, 8inch sponge, picture as below, took me a bloody age to do the lettering (anyone know how to get the letters out of the tappit thing easily?)

What do you reckon? How much would you charge?

oh and the dog is supposed to look like that, I copied it from the logo for her business.

I dunno about charge but I second you on getting the letters out.
I want someone to invent plunger alphabet cutters.. theyd be soooo much easier.. is there anything out there or do I have to commission PMA? (or whoever the co. is that makes the butterflies and flowers) lol

or is it.. Here I come Dragons Den? lol

i agree on the tappits being a pain in the butt i usually have to try millions of times to get a letter right it always breaks!

ahhhhhhhh im not impressed with cake-stuff.com!! i placed an order friday 24th and their fastest delivery and still havent received it and i need the cake ready for next monday!! really hoping it comes tomoro or im going to have to dash to the nearest cake shop an HOUR away!!

Strawberry, Oh no!! Thats terrible!! I'd definately complain especially if you've paid extra for faster service! Whats the likely hood its going to come on a sunday? I'm having to go to the cake shop today as I have an order for monday also, I dont trust the internet so close!
