Chele they are beautiful, you're friend will be so happy with them! What recipe did you use for your buttercream, it looks really good?

Chele they look gorgeous.

Whoppy do you mind if I pinch the wedding cake ideas for my friends birthday?

Go for it hun! I had seen it done previously so it wasn't my idea in the 1st place. It's nice to do, quite relaxing.

Just thought I would share the 2 cakes I did for Tommys birthday, the first was for the party and the second for the day itself.
The first is a nursery rhyme theme - humpty dumpty, twinkle twinkle, baa baa black sheep and hey diddle diddle :D The second is just polka dots and stars with a candle holder topper :)

Oh and some chocolate and fresh cream cupcakes for the party, i was meant to do 11 vanilla as well but ran out of time so i just filled some cake cases with haribo to fill it up lol :haha:

In the end I decided to use a cream cheese frosting still but reduce the content of cream cheese
So per bowl was 600g icing sugar, 200g lurpack butter and 100g philadelphia full fat. I kept the butter quite cold and the shape held really well. The hotel even commented that the frosting was great that it held shape so well as most cupcakes they get to set up have problems with stability
Yaaay :happydance:

Here they are in situ

Awww love that nursery rhyme cake so cute!!

Hi girls, not been on here much since I was making ds7's birthday cake back in April,I've been lurking and looking at all your amazing cakes n cuppies but just not posting. I need help pleasssseeee....Ethans 1st birthday is in 3 weeks and he is mad on mickey mouse so I wanna make him a mickey cake. Been googling and came across this one.....

A few things I need help with...

Where is the cheapest place to buy a 10" inch and 2 6" cake tins from?

Would it be best to buy ready roll red icing for the 'ribbon' round the base rather than mixing up a red?

Also....I want to do some cupcakes for the kids coming to the little party with little fondant mickey mouse faces toppers but I'm no way talented enough to make the toppers so....anyone on here be able to knock me some up at a decent price??

I'll be back later with more questions!! xxx

Are the 10" and 6" tins for the mickey mouse? If it is, I have just found this on ebay https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MICKEY-MOUSE-SHAPED-BIRTHDAY-NOVELTY-BAKING-CAKE-TIN-/180571832594?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Kitchen_Cookware_GL&hash=item2a0aeb8112#ht_1173wt_905 that might be of some help? Failing that most online places are quite competative for prices on tins and the first page has a few shops listed :)

As regards to the red icing, personally I hate mixing red as it never turns out red red more dusky red so I would buy it but thats juss me! Red & Black are the only two colours I buy rather than mix!

Hope this helps a little XX

Heres this weeks cake :)

Thanks Cassandra, yes the cake tins are to make a mickey mouse head shaped cake..thought a 10" round for his face with 2 6" ones for his ears. I had a look at that cake tin in the link but I think the shape is abit odd?

Anyway... Is anyone able to make me some fondant mickey mouse heads? saw some on ebay a few weeks ago and stupidly didn't order some and now there gone.

Another QUESTION.. what do you all line your cake boards with? Do you cover it with fondant icing? I'm thinking of doing this so it gives me abit of room to write 'happy 1st birthday' on?

Strawberry > Thats fab! I'm yet to try a chocolate coated one!

Hlez > Yeah I though the tin looked odd at first, but they've taked the picture of the inside of the tin making it look like it has 'hamster' cheeks! lol - failing that, yeah try the two tins... :) I've never covered my cake board as of yet but theres a few on here that have done and it looks really effective! Go for it :) Found this one too https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MICKEY-MOUSE-CAKE-TIN-PAN-TEFAL-GOOD-COND_W0QQitemZ200528019967QQcategoryZ25466QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3907.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D20%26pmod%3D180571832594%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5023880601838112662#ht_500wt_1156 Im afraid, I wouldnt trust myself to do the heads free hand but you can get rice paper toppers on ebay also :)

Georgie > WHY????????? :(

Strawberry that looks great :)
did you do the starts on wires yourself?, which wires do you use, I really think I need some to do a bit of WOW on a friends cake

Helz I wouldn't feel comfortable making them either, sorry, can't you get some little cutters?

Ha ha I didn't post mine

I think I am getting better at this cake lark, not as good as you guys but....
