my first ever cake i made out of the debbie brown book

50 easy party cakes, everything is step by step and really good

i have a few other books by her which i had signed when i saw her at the cake show but i would definately recommend that one

Thanks :D
Iv bought myself the home guide to cake decorating and its looking like im gonna need nearly every technique in the book to make this cake

Im gonna bake a cake today to be my first homemade properly decorated cake so i shall post pics later :)

My chocolate cake recipe produces a very wet and moist choco cake, its kinda difficult o manouver (sp?) outta the tin (i still cant work out how to tweak the recipe for that one) but its very very chocolatey and tastey
Ingredients
- 225g butter
- 350g caster sugar
- 320g plain flour
- 250ml milk
- water
- 3 eggs
- 3 teaspoons baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- Dollop of apple sauce
- Splash of vanilla essence
- Oil
- 200g Dark Chocolate (melted)

Method
Preheat oven to 175o
Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt
Cream together the butter & sugar and then beat in the eggs and then stir in the melted chocolate, vanilla essence and dollop of apple sauce. Mix in a few teaspoons of oil.
Add some of the flour, then some of the milk, flour, milk, flour, milk, until all mixed together.
Add another teaspoon of oil and water at room temp if necessary to achieve a soft drop consistency.
Beat and fold to trap in as much air as possible.
Bake for around 45 minutes

Lol its more effort than just addng some cocoa powder but my OH loves it :)
Thats gonna be the cake im doin 4 his bday :)

i flick through a book n see a nice one, but then i always get different idea in my head that take over!!

i love debbie browns cakes though...they always look so perfect!

EDIT: forgot to say, if u look REALLY closely to some of the cakes though you can still see flaws like the rest of us have!!! icing cracking etc.

Nothing at al like my original plan but I had to rethink at the last minute because I didn't have enough time to do the players etc.
Not sure if I'm happy with it or not!
