Calpol, RANT!

it isnt a very responsible thing for her to be doing, esp as paracetamol has no sleep inducing properties. is it definately calpol and not MEDISED ( paracetamol and a sedative) shes giving, I knew someone who used to giv that untill i explained how dangerous and damaging it could be

Paracetamol is not addictive - nor does it do damage to the liver or kidneys if it is used at the correct dosage and only occasionally. My daughter has 10ml of paracetamol 4x a day when she needs it (and believe me sometimes she does - her disabilities cause her a great deal of pain sometimes) and she has slightly decreased kidney function, caused by urinary infections and kidney reflux.

There really is nothing you can do to stop other people doing things like this with their children sadly. It is upsetting though :(

CALPOL?
Def not Medised (if they still do it? - that is to help poorly kids sleep)
Either way that is so wrong - a total cop out IMO.
Not only that but what if one day she needs calpol to work for a headache or something (maybe 5/6yrs old?) it might not have any effect then!
I was given a medicine as a kid, I just cannot remember the name but the Dr prscribed it, sure it began with a T?
That was to help me sleep although it was a type of antihistamine

It is so irresponsible if she is using it to get her too sleep. The baby will become dependant on it.

exactly, I'm not sure how much paracetemol is in calpol but my mum is totally dependant on painkillers, she tried to quit once and spent the whole day in a dark room in pain, and was back on them the next day. That poor baby, its terrible for your liver too :nope:

Sorry for not replying sooner girls, I wasn't on yesterday! I spoke to the girl and she said it seem's to help her sleep (as you lot have said it doesnt make LO's sleep), so I told her how many risk's she was taking with her LO's health and I think I made her see sense! Fingers crossed! I noticed a couple of you said you were giving your LO it every night, but I would do the same if Evie needed it as your LO's do! I just didn't like she gave it her LO for no reason!
