I posted this in baby club but thought someone here might have some advice.

I don't know what I can do about this and it is starting to get to me. A has never been a good sleeper - he often wakes every hour for a feed and drops back off. Not a problem once I go to bed (we cosleep) but in the evenings it is killing me. He wakes every 20 minutes and nothing but boobie sends him back off.

I've tried shhh/pat, singing, rocking, white noise and none of it works. I have just tried CC and PU/PD but nothing is working. I'm sitting next to his cot and he is rolling around and playing like it's the middle of the day. What can i do? I'm a single mum and i get no time to myself at all and i don't think i can cope anymore. I just need an hour of baby free time before i go to bed

Oh hun massive hugs.....my LO is 16 weeks and I thought he was up regularly (can be hourly through the night - seems to wake after one sleep cycle and need to boob back to sleep).

Will he take EBM in a bottle so a family member could give you an hours break or so? (mine won't - but just a thought!). Although my DH tries to help as he doesn't have the boobs I tend to do night duties on my own and am on my own through the day while he works, but my parents have started popping up once a week to give me a break from the entertaining at least, and DH has him for an hour when he comes home from work before we go to bed.

I don't really have any advice unfortunately, not having a good sleeper myself, but I wanted to send massive (((hugs))) - you are doing so well. My mum brought me up on her own and since having Dylan I have been in serious awe of single mums as I am struggling even with the help that I have. I hope someone can give you some good advice :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Some babies just don't sleep in the evening. The flip side is that they often sleep in during the morning. A baby who gives mum time in the evening is often an early riser.... they are larks and owls even at that age!

Alternatively, it might be possible to look at your daytime activity and see if you're really tiring baby out? Outdoor time is especially important for setting the biological clock.

And the other thing that really helps evening sleep IME is getting naps during the day. A baby who has an hour and a half every afternoon is almost always a better sleeper than one who doesn't.

our sure start centre has a sleep 'expert', is there a centre near you that may be able to help?
