I am pretty sure its safe to eat straight out of the can, because bacteria like listeria aren't in canned foods(or so I think), but I want to be check with you ladies first on your thoughts. I just randomly bought a can today, but was too scared to eat any. I know its very similar to hot dogs, but I think since its canned its fine to eat without heating it first? Does that make sense? I know if I were to refrigerate after opening then I would then need to heat it up. Also, same thought, what about spam??
I know gross foods seriously, but I dont know what it is during pregnancy that makes them sound delicious!
Help me! I want some, but won't if it could carry listeria even fresh out of the can

i think so.. isn't that like eating corned beef? i eat corned beef :D although im sure i'll be told now im not allowed to eat that either  hehe xx

From the USDA website (I can't post the link because I don't have enough posts, but if you google 'canned food listeria' it comes up 3rd on the search): "Foods that don’t need refrigeration, like canned tuna and canned salmon, are okay to eat. Refrigerate after opening."

I would assume that means vienna sausages are safe to eat.
