Wasn't sure where to post this, hoping someone here can help.
Is it possible to lactate if you aren't pregnant? I breastfed my other two kids, my youngest is a year and actually stopped breastfeeding her early at 4 months.... I suppose it is possible that I am pregnant, my period is due in a few days soooo i guess I'm wondering if I'm pregnant or not?! Clear liquid comes out when I squeeze and have dry white spots on the nipples like I did when I was pregnant/Bfing before.....

That used to happen to me at one point in my cycle before I was pregnant with my first. I also had it early in pregnancy. I think it is more likely after you breastfeed a baby. I've read that lactating when not pregnant can be caused by a hormone imballance from a medical condition but I wouldnt be too worried if it is only a tiny bit? It might be best to take a pregnancy test just to be sure that is not the cause?

Oh yes, I am definitely taking one tomorrow...just anxious for the night now, lol.

Yes, it is possible to lactate without being pregnant. I've had this happen, granted after an early loss, but still...yes. I had to get my prolactin levels checked to rule out a benign brain tumor. Luckily I don't have that. However I continued to be able to express a few drops from each breast, and if I didn't express I'd feel engorged.

I was diagnosed with something like gallorectia?? I know that's not it but something similar sounding. It's actually quite common, and can happen to males and even infants. Stimulation, hot showers, stress, etc can all attribute to this condition.

All that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it can also be a sign of pregnancy, so def test! Otherwise I'd mention it to a doc so you can check prolactin levels

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, I'll try to help the best I can! :)

After I had my first, I was always able to squeeze some droplets out, so it doesn't necessarily mean you're pregnant.

I stopped breastfeeding 9 months ago and I still lactate a bit before my period. So yep, it's possible that the hormones before your period get your supply going again briefly.

So interesting! I took a pregnancy test and it was negative...although I wasn't technically late for my period that day...still no period either. *shrug* In my mind I am pregnant because I can still squeeze drops out LOL. How long does it usually last if you aren't? lol

Mine stops once I get my period... which is completely unpredictable. :haha:
