ok so wen i had my first booking appt, my bp was 146/88 which was not great for me at all- but, i was absolutely terrified.
so i bought a home monitor and check it myself. i take it in morning and afternoon but not always the same times- tho only a couple hrs different.
heres my readings.
27th jan 09.30 (after breakfast) 1 reading = 119/63 pulse 78
28th jan 08.26 (after breakfast) 1 reading = 104/63 pulse 83
29th Jan 09.30 (after breakfast) 1 reading = 129/63 pulse 70
30thjan 11.03am (afterbreakfast) 1 reading = 117/61 pulse 84
now either im doing it wrong or i have a serious issues when going to a mw.
My last mw appointment my bp was 140/60 and she said it was ok because the bottom number was low, something i dont understand as I thought it was assessed on EITHER number being high.
my readings vary slightly but the bottom number is fairly consistent and the top isnt too different. i've yet to have a reading which is anything close to when I seea dr
I've noted these readings in my pregnancy notes.
whats your opinions on this.
Those blood pressure readings are quite normal. Your booking BP looks typical of a booking BP when you can be nervous i.e. white coat syndrome.

Also, just to point out that a midwife or doctor has to have their BP equipment checked and calibrated and this is not just for accuracy but insurance and medal legal reasons also. If any equipment isn't Calibrated the readings should be deemed inaccurate in the eyes of investigating medical incidences. As far as documenting your BPs with your equipment in your pregnancy notes, it usually isn't advised as your pregnancy notes is a legal document. Then again this applies to the UK so if you are somewhere else this may be different where they allow you to document in your notes.
