Canadian Moms & Moms to be!

My grandma baked a bit, but not really any fancy type things... My mom never was a baker either. My great aunt was super mom though, she made everything, baked goodies, sewed, did all the wall painting in the house etc.... she baked alot of food too, she gave me the recipe for her latvian homemade perogies too when she moved this summer... I can't wait to try it :D

LOL vickie

Joss whats the difference between a reg perogie and a latvian perogie?? they sound good... even though im sure jenny doesn't approve of perogies  my mom wasn't a baker either - except she made these awesome PB chocolate chip cookies ( i only found out later that she made us a batch and then her a batch of "special" ones :winkwink: :winkwink: )

"special" cookies!!

Mmmmm I love perogies. I make them fried with bacon an onion, soooo good....but ya probably not the healthiest choice!

i know we have a few foodies (or wanna be foodies like me on here) there is a new season of the next iron chef and im super excited because some of my fav food network tv hosts are competing!! totally o/t i know..

we can't wait for that show to start! Halloween night  gotta make sure the kid is in bed from trick-or-treating on time :haha:

im setting my pvr... we only need to take J to "trick or treat" at both grandparents place (thank goodness they are both within 10km of our house LOL).

I don't have PVR  Probably the only people in the world who don't.

Is it at 9? We should be home well before than, if it's at 8 that could be a problem

No PVR here either Vickie, although I often wish we did as our ROD now sucks!

My mom's not really a baker, she loves to cook though. My Nan loved to bake, and made such yummy snacks with me when I was younger.

So this morning I sent B off to MIL's and went into the clinic because I could not move my head/neck and had to sit it on my shoulder for comfort. It's pretty brutal but should be fine in a couple of days and in the meantime I'm taking some ibuprofen or robaxacet to help along with a hot bath and rest.

sorry to hear your neck is so sore Lisa. hope the bath and drugs help you feel better!!

J is napping beside and she has her eyes half open.. its weird LOL

My mom has never been particularly into baking, but she did plenty of baking for us where we were kids. Nothing crazy, just simple cookies, squares and banana bread.

My dad didn't bake often, but he was really into it when he did. Mostly elaborate gingerbread houses and homemade cinnamon buns.

I like eating baking, but get frustrated making them. I prefer to support local bakeries and SAHM home based businesses.

That said, I want to try making low sugar pumkin muffins one of these days.

My grandma is like Queen Baker. She just realized they have premade tart shells

She even makes her own versions of Sidekicks from scratch, and doesnt understand why anyone would buy that "crap"

:hugs: Lisa I hope your neck feels better soon.

We had a good lunch, we went to a restaurant called Axia, they had a lot of different kinds of Asian food, I had teriyaki steak that was really good :munch:

glad lunch went well vickie.

i was gonna bake, but decided to shop instead LOL i picked up Selena's first bday gift. i got 2 really cute outfits clearance and 2 really cute sleepers on clearance - about $100 in clothes for $40!! and we got her a violet. i also went into gymboree and the giraffe stuff was on sale so J got an outfit!

then we came home, she is passed out, i just had lunch and im watching chopped. i REALLY need to go bring in all the stuff out of my truck but im lazy LOL.

My grandma was/is really into cooking and baking. When we lived closer to her whenever we visited her she would always send me home with enormous amounts of food. I think she just enjoys cooking and baking regardless of whether anyone is there to eat it or not lol

My mom cooks when she has to, she likes to can and she's never really been into making desserts. I love to bake (when I feel like it) and I love trying new recipes. My sister doesn't bake and if I could do it in a nice way and know she'd actually do it.. I'd send her to some cooking classes. She knows a few good dishes but that's pretty much it.

Hi girls by the way!

Hey Rach! LOL

J just ate baby food! I'm probably the most excited I've ever been for something she's accomplished!

That's awesome Sara!!

Lisa hope your neck feels better soon :hugs:

:hi: Hi Rach!!

we just had a family outdoor photoshoot this afternoon...I think it went well, can't wait to see how the pics turned out. The weather definitely cooperated for us :)

Hi Rach, and other ladies! :hi:

My Grandma was definitely the baker of the family, though my Mom was always pretty good too (which is her daughter). I remember baking ALL the time as a kid (my Grandma used to babysit me)... and for no particular reason either. Just for fun, and to eat it. :D I wish I had time to bake more but none of us really NEED it either!

Melissa - Cant wait to see the pictures!

Sorry if I missed something...

I am exhausted today. Kyree was up all night last night since she's sick now too. :( Though she has a bad cough that keeps her up, and then she cries her eyes out since she cant sleep. I posted a pic on FB today where she actually passed out half laying on the chaise lounge. She NEVER does that! Its hard getting her to nap in her BED let alone the couch! :dohh: Poor girl.
Anyway, what sucks is now that I'm working I was SOOOO looking forward to this weekend to catch up on some sleep and that just didn't happen. :nope: This past week has actually been awful for sleep in general. Both my girls are normally great sleepers but man, they must have known I went back to work this week! I feel like I've gotten only a few hours every night. :coffee:
Hopefully tonight goes better!
