My 1st IVF cycle was cancelled yesterday due to poor response, only had 2 dominant follicles :sad2::sad2:

I am absolutely gutted, but can anybody tell me what will happen to these follicles now that I've stopped my medication?

Will I ovulate naturally, or will they just disappear (or whatever follicles do!?)

My clinic have also told me that I have to have 2 natural periods before we can try again. Thing is, I might only have 2 natural periods in a year!! Can I insist on treatment quicker than this??

I have so many questions and nobody to answer them as my consultant is on holiday for the next 3 weeks :growlmad:

Hi Mrs R,
just wanted to say that i am so sorry, looks like we hve both recieved terrible news at around the same time, i don't know what else to say, just that i am sending you special :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
xxx

No advice hun but just wanted to say I am so so sorry.

I would give yourself the 3 weeks whilst your consultant is away to try to pick yourself up and prepare for whatever comes next then ring your consultant and explain the position with your long cycles. There are bound to have been other women in this position and I am sure they wouldn't expect you to wait that long before starting again.

Look after yourself & DH

Mrs R, I don't know what happens to your follicles, I would assume they will release on their own now the meds have stopped.
I am so sorry they cancelled the cycle, I could only imagine how you must be feeling. Hun I am so sorry your going through this, it just isn't fair. :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hi mrs R

I am so sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled. I am not 100% sure but I think your follicles would rupture themselves ... however, as you haven't taken your HCG booster, your eggs will most probably not have matured properly, so may well be unable to fertilise.

Could I make a suggestion re future treatments? I would ask the question of the RFC as to why you were put on clomid when there is clearly a problem with the position of one of your ovaries, and potentially a problem with the fallopian tube connected to it? Ask for a HSG if you haven't already had one done just to confirm that there is no issue with the shape or position of your womb as well. There is no point in putting yourself through the emotional upheaval (and financial expense) of another cycle of IVF, if there are other underlying issues.

I hope this makes sense, and hope it's not too long until you get your :bfp:

:hugs: So sorry hun. Life is so unfair...

Yeah, gonna start asking some questions Maz. The only problem is that I won't be seen in the RFC as an NHS patient until at least next Easter :nope:

My next appointment in Care isn't until Christmas week, but one of the doctors suggested I could have a telephone consultation to save us travelling a few days before Christmas.

At the minute, one of the lovely secretaries I have spoken to at Care is trying to find out why I have to wait 2 cycles before I have more treatment, due to the fact that I actually only produced 2 decent follicles which is what normal women do every month. 2 cycles could also mean a 10 month wait for me!!!

As for the position of my ovaries/ tubes etc, Care are aware that they are not positioned correctly and will look at this at the review. They are saying it probably won't be a problem as IVF cuts out the need for healthy tubes etc.

Thankfully, my womb is the only bit that actually looks healthy! But I will definitely ask if it's worth having some sort of tests
