We are trying LO on C and G comfort as he has been on Hipp organic but he is not happy, after each feed he cries and kicks his legs and is often sick too.
It says on the box of the C and G that because the feed is thicker you should use the variable or medium teats. As LO has been on slow flow teats (with MAM anti colic bottles) we don't have any of these. I will change the teats if I need to just wondering if other folk have needed to do this with the comfort feed? How will I know if the teats need changing - what should I look out for?

Thanks

comfort is far too thick to go through any of the slow flow/newborn teats (except medela I have heard), the comfort will clog the teats and not flow smoothly unless you change, in my experience anyway. When my LO was on comfort we used NUK bottles and I've heard with normal formula even the medium flow teats of those are too fast; yet on the confort the largest feed hole was just about large enough.

Hi I use comfort formula with a no 2 teat on a dr browns bottle with no prob at all. Lo feeds really well and the milk flow is fine

I was thinking of getting bigger size teats as we changed from Cow and gate normal to comfort but my LO drinks fine with the number 1 Dr brown and number 1 tommee tippee teats, i'd try the teat's you have now and see how your LO is first :)

I went from first size avent teats to size 3 because the 2nd size ones were too small for comfort + gavison too.LO was only a month old but coped fine with size3 which are for 3 months +. hth x

Well last night the LO was really struggling to get his bottle down on the newborn size teats, spent about half an hour trying to feed him (at 4am) and he only managed about 20ml during that time - poor thing kept having to take a break as he got exhausted sucking away, in the end I gave up and put a carton of normal hipp in a bottle (he doesn't seem to have a problem with Hipp cartons only powder) and it went down in no time so it's definitely harder to get out, will try the MAM fast flow teats and see if it makes a difference. It's a shame as the comfort does seem to be better for him than the HIPP powder, much less sicky/hiccupy/uncomfortable after his feeds, but if the fast teats can solve it then thats what we'll do. Has anyone here tried comfort with MAM bottles and did they have to go up to fast flow teats?

Hello,
I'd be intrigued to hear how you get on an9i - I'm thinking of making exactly the same transition as you. I'm using MAM bottles with No.1 teats and want to move onto Aptamil Comfort. I'd love to hear which larger hole teats you try, and if they work well.

p.s. I have just joined and haven't set up my profile yet as need to upload pictures, so apologies if my profile is a little bare at the moment! x

I had to change from avent no2 teats to variflow for thicker liquids. Couldn't get anything out of the bottles on no2 teats

We are using Aptamil comfort and using Avent bottles. We currently use the no2 teats. Ava-Mae does take a bit longer to feed now, because this size has the same size holes as no1 teats, but just has two of them! We tried the only variable flow teat avent do, which is from 3+ months and it was too fast for her.

It's strange avent don't seem to do a variable for newborn-3months (from what I can see anyway!)

xx

I use MAM bottles and C&G comfort. I wish there was an in-between teat size!! Size number 1 is too slow and LO takes too long to drink his milk and becomes sleepy or frustrated half way through. Size 2 is too fast and he guzzles his milk and then gets bad hiccups and is sick. I don't heat the milk too much as it flows faster and try to take breaks but he can become annoyed and cry.
I'm going to buy a variflow teat today and see how he gets on.

I have tried the number 2 teats and they seem ok, so will stick with these for now. C and G comfort is giving him terrible wind and diarrhea though so it seems to have solved one problem but created another!

I suppose the good thing though is that he's getting rid if the wind, even though it's out the other end! x
