Hi all, I am looking to have my LO christened in April sometime. I have never been christened but dh has. Im thinking of asking my dh best friend to be god father and my bro's gf to be godmother. I dont know if either of these have been christened or baptised etc, do they need to be?
Also, what will i need, a hall, food etc? Id love to know if anyone could point me in the right direction or if they have had a christening for their lo, just dont know where to start!!. :dohh: Thankyou :flower:

Hi i had my LO christened in feb this year. We had 4 god parents. My brother and his wife, my best friend and FOBs best friend. All have been christened but we didnt have to provide proof, they just asked where (naughty i know but i just put any church because i didnt know) We invited everyone back to my house after and just put on some food. Didnt really cost a great deal, but i didnt invite many people xx

Hi, we had our LO christened last April. Traditionally a female has 2 female godparents and 1 male. The godparents do have to be christened (but one of ours wasn't but I put on the forms that they were). It was just a typical CofE church ceremony and then back to our house after. You dont have to pay for the church service. You will need a dress/gown and maybe another outfit to get changed into later as the christening gowns if they are long can be awkward to keep on all day. I actually feel a bit guilty that a godparent wasnt christened as the whole point of the ceremony is to promise that they will help them develop spiritually and teach them about god etc. I'm not christened either though but I wanted LO christened because I wanted her to not feel like an outcast at school (like I did...but maybe that was the era I was born in) or not be able to get married in church etc. Probably cost us about £500 in total and that was with childrens entertainers and catering afterwards. Have a fun day...and April is the perfect time as the weather is usually fabulous! x

Is it true that you can't get married in a church if you're not christened?

My Hubby isn't christened, we still got married in a church this may :) I am though.

Good luck with your christening plans hun.

When we got Jess christened, all godparents had to be baptised. If they werent, they offered to do it beforehand.

It cost us around £450 all in, food, dress, room hire, dj etc...
