What do you do Christmas Eve? Not necessarily during the day, but the evening. My dd and I have always gone to my aunt's for dinner and then to open gifts, but she passed this year so I'm not sure what we'll do. I'm looking for ideas that the 2 of us could do. So, what are your traditions??

Usually Christmas Eve evening is a time for tracking Santa online to see how far away he is, we bake mince pies/cookies and make a Gingerbread house,(the kits are usually in the Christmas Eve basket the kids open in the morning) we watch movies, play games at about 7:30 the kids get washed and dressed into their christmas pyjamas, we spread reindeer food outside and leave Santa a freshly baked mince pie and drink, the kids are put to bed, we have a drink, at about 11 we start bringing down presents, set any large items up and put the rest into separate piles for each child, I fill stockings, afterwards we watch a film and then head up to bed ready for the fun and chaos the next morning.

We usually got to my in-laws but the last 2 years we’ve driven over only to find my mother in law has gone out so me and oh end up arguing and the day is a total waste.

This year I’m thinking a day out at a national trust place, followed by tea and a walk around the estate to look at Christmas lights. Early bath, new pj’s on and Christmas film before bed

We usually visit family and then later on do some Christmas crafts and watch a film :)

We don’t really have a set Christmas Eve as it depends on work/day of the week etc.

I always have lots of food prep to do.

I like to try and bake something with the kids to leave for santa.

Christmas eve morning I will give little one his Christmas eve box, we will go for a little walk during the day and do what ever crafts in the Christmas eve box. Or we will bake cookies for santa, in the evening we put out our santa stop here sign and reindeer food in the garden. Then we watch a movie in our new pyjamas.

Its all every relaxed and family are welcome to pop in during the afternoon if they want too, but we don't go out as it can be too stressful with kids.

We will have been eating buffet food all day so don't really do a dinner. We bath, get in to our new PJ's, watch a film with hot chocolate, and play charades which is ridiculously hilarious with very small people.

We usually have a little buffet/party tea. Keep checking the Santa tracker and put reindeer food out. Then we might play a game or watch an Xmas film with the kids. Then we spend the rest of the evening trying to get dd1 to sleep as she's usually too excited and ends up staying awake till really late!!

I normally do the food prep in the morning whilst the kids watch xmas movies, this year DH has booked xmas eve off so we’re going to visit family and deliver presents and then we’re takimg the kids bowling in the afternoon then it will be home to sprinkle reindeer food, get into new pjs and watch a film whilst eating a takeaway before trying to get the kids in bed about 8

Usually we give the girls their Christmas Eve box which I haven't really thought about this year tbh. We have matching PJs so far.
We spend the day eating, watching films and getting excited. We normally cook a light dinner like salmon and vegetables (I love salmon but we won't have it Christmas day lol).
