No way, never! Like a lot of the other posters, I can't really believe that in this day and age it's still so common. To me it's genital mutilation and unless there are medical reasons I can't see one single other reason for this being done!
As for all the people saying it's cleaner and there's less risk of infection : wtf? What about girls? We have 'flaps' of skin down below and we manage to stay clean and healthy. It seems like a lame excuse to me. You can't trust your son to take care of his own body?
I'm SO glad that it's not the norm in Europe where we live and that this isn't even a question that had to be considered.
