Cleft Lip on 20week 2d scan.. Please Help!

Hi my baby is due in a few days and has got a cleft lip maybe palate.. Please try and get a scan sooner than 8 weeks i am in the uk and they try and give you a 4D scan around 26 weeks and it rearly helped me look forward to having baby and see how bad baby cleft lip is...please pm if you need to talk,,,xx

When we had our 20 week scan the sonographer showed us how they take a picture of the face and then change certain settings which highlight the tissue on the face - this shows if there is a cleft lip or not.

Although not a nice thing to have to deal with at all please bear in mind that this is something that can be fixed and your little boy will probably have very little or no scarring as a result!! Years ago the scarring was bad but now that surgical procedures have developed so much they can really work wonders.

Try to relax and not stress about it too much - your little boy will be fine hun xxxxxxx

I don't really know anything about cleft lips, so can't help you much. But I know it can be fixed in many cases so try not to worry. The doctors should ensure youre fully informed about this, so meet with them, ask lots of questions and see how you can move forward :hugs:

Hey hun not read past the first page however my friend has a son whos now 2, everything looked great on the scans no problems etc, he was born with a Cleft lip and palate, He has had a few surgerys and now you would never know he had, he did have to have speacial bottles to start with as he could not suck on a normal bottle or boob. He does however have a problem with one of his ears in regards to hearing but i dont know if its related or not although they say ears/mouth/nose all connect etc

Just wanted to send you hugs hun :hugs:
