My husband and I have been seeing an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) for a year now. We have been trying for five years on and off. We have done femara and IUIs for 4 cycles with a success and early miscarriage on our second cycle. We took a long break for a number of reasons, and now we are back at it again. We had an IVF consult on the 3rd of this month and the dr said we don't have to do IVF yet. He said he'd allow 4 more IUIs. Should we continue on with the IUIs and hope for the best? Or should we just save up for IVF? I'm curious to know what others would do in this situation... We can't afford IVF right now so IUIs seem like a good choice, but I'm starting to feel like we're waisting money and time on these.

You might get more of a response in the LTTTC boards! I have no idea what you should do! Trust your gut instinct!

So sorry for your troubles. 5 years is a long time, I guess if I were in your shoes I would want to go for the big guns and shoot for IVF. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I would shoot for IVF. DH and I were given the option of starting with IUIs, and after our RE gave us a look at our chances we decided we were better off sucking it up and paying for IVF. IUIs even going perfectly well only off about a 13% success rate. We decided it would probably just be a waste of money for us.

Good luck!

I've been told that if an IUI is going to work, it will most likely happen in the first 3 tries. Since it did work on your second try, even though it sadly ended in a miscarriage, I'd give it another 3 shots at least.

Thanks for your advise ladies hubby and I decided to do another iui and I think I got the start of a bfp today.... Fingers crossed that it sticks....
