I went this morning to my FS and I have 2 follicles- one about 20mm and the other is about 15-16mm.. I took Femara this cycle and we're doing an IUI. I haven't gotten a positive OPK yet so he is giving me Novarel 10,000 units to trigger tonight. He said he wanted to give the other follicle a little more time to develop. Anyway- I am thinking it's a little odd to do the trigger tonight and then the IUI in the morning.. almost everyone else I see does the trigger and then the IUI 36 hours later.

So I am sitting here wondering if I should do the trigger this afternoon instead of later tonight seeing that I am having an IUI @ 9am tomorrow morning. can I get some opinions on this?? Would you trigger this afternoon or do it later tonight and just have the IUI in the morning??

I've never triggered, but I do know that sperm will stay alive for 3-5 days. So even if the IUI seems too early, that's ok because they'll "hang out" and wait for the egg :) I asked my doctor how long it takes the sperm to reach the tubes, and he said 30 seconds! wow!

i've always been told it takes 36 hours to ovulate after trigger, i don't know what i'd do, it doesn't make sense to trigger tonight and then have iui in the morning, sometimes i suppose we have to just trust them

sorry not much help

Holly - I would say go with what the Dr says but be sure to BD that afternoon and the next day just to be sure.

Thanks ladies :flower:

I know it's silly to NOT listen to the doctor.. just is sooo different from everyone else!

We were told trigger is anywhere from 24 hours and after so if you have the IUI in the morning then the sperm will be waiting when your egg is released later that night :)

But definitely BD just to be safe and to add extra boys to the mix :)

Ive heard the same thing- 24 hours or later.. well, I triggered this afternoon... I figured it was only a few hours early and won't make a big difference in the grand scheme of things! Praying it works!! thank you ladies for your advice! :hugs: 2nd time's a charm?? :)
