Covers better than the original?

Not only one of my favourite covers, but one of my favourite songs:

And probably these - although I feel kinda bad betraying Depeche Mode:

hahah yeah me too actually, although the original guns of brixton is one of my favourite songs of all time possibly because it was written/sung by sexy sexy amazing paul simonon

:haha: Sorry to lower the tone (but the 4 non-blondes original is definitely beaten here)

I didn't even know Sea Of Love was a cover, I thought I had heard it before!

I don't know if I'd say better or equal but TV on the Radio's version of 'Mr Grieves' by the Pixies. It's lush.

As a lifelong and diehard Pixies fan I am scared to listen to this in case it angers me :haha:

Oh, honestly don't be. The Pixies are my favourite band. This version is so different as to not tread on their toes at all if you get what I mean. Google it, google it!

I love cover songs, I think it's brilliant when an artist can take a song and make it their own.

I prefer Jose Gonzales' version of Heartbeats (the original is just weird).
Alana Davis' version of 32 flavors by Ani DiFranco. I'm not sure I prefer it but it's deffo easier to sing along to.
Ellie Goulding's version of Your Song by Elton John.
I've no idea who sings it but there's a version of Use Somebody by Kings of Leon that was playing in Starbucks one time, it was some female vocalist, I much preferred it! I Googled it but couldn't find the one I heard :(

Does X Factor count? I absolutely loved Stacey Soloman doing Coldplay's The Scientist a few years back. Wasn't a fan of the original but I loved hers.

^ Yes - I loved Stacey doing that!

Also loved Alex Parks doing it!

This one sounds so lame but.

Framing Hanelys version of Lil Waynes Lollipop.

Okay i'm ashamed of myself i'm off to sit in the corner.

:haha:

Also went looking for some new live lounge and found this.

I don't know if anyone watched this years the voice but leah Mcfall has covers on her YouTube Channel and some are brilliant. Especially love 1+1 which was beyonce a but she just seems to add a little more to it.

Xx

I love Muse's cover of Feeling Good. I could listen to that a thousand times over. And it sounds soooooo good live!

For something unusual, I like The Gourds - Gin and Juice. It just tickles me to hear a bluegrass cover of Snoop Dogg.

I think Metallica's cover of Whiskey in the Jar is better than the original and really like Less Than Jake's version of Surrender and Everclear's Brown Eyed Girl.
