I'm 6.5 weeks pregnant and i have a bump, now i'm looking for a good cream for my belly because i don;t want to have stretch marks after the baby comes, and i heard that when you have a bump you can start using it.
Thank you

I wouldn't worry about it until you are around your third trimester. You wont start getting stretch marks until your skin has stretched to it's max capacity and the only way for it to stretch more is to create more skin area.. aka stretch marks. I'm 7 1/2 months and no stretch marks yet. I didn't start using creme until 6+ months.
Just make sure when you do, you put it everywhere.. belly and boobs, maybe even hips. I haven't got stretch marks on my belly, but I do on my boobs. So be careful of that. :D

I used streach mark cream everyday from day one and it never worked my stomach looks like a map some of them have gone but im still left with a few, i didnt get any on my boobs but i got them on my upper arms and backs of legs (whats all that about lol) Its a nice way to keep your skin looking nice and soft.

I've heard stretch marks can be genetic, so if your mum got them the chances are you will to, and no amount of cream will work? I didn't use anything and didn't get any on my belly and boobs but I have lots on the tops of my legs! The good point is they have faded to silver/white lines as opposed to the bright red lines I had when they first appeared.

xx

If you are gonna get them you will get them! not alot you can do about it.
using cream will make the skin more supple, but nothing will stop them completely.
Bio-oil helped reduce the look of mine.

Yeah I've heard they're genetic too so if you're going to get them there's nothing you can do. I already have them on my hips and tops of my thighs from puberty.

Still creams might help or at least reduce how many you get. Palmers cocoa butter or bio oil are meant to be good or you can just use baby oil after each bath or shower because it's meant to be more moisturising than most creams. Greasy though. You can just get a shops own brand because baby oil is made of only 2 ingredients anyway so I always think the brand names were a bit of a rip off.

Oh and apparently jelly is good too because the gelatin helps your bodys collegen and elastin which is what breaks and makes stretch marks.

My mom got stretch marks bad with her pregnancies, but I didn't get any with my first (and none so far). I do have stretchmarks from puberty though on my breasts, hips and lower back, so the genetic thing does apply, but I was very anal about using Palmers cocoa butter lotion with my first pregnancy and I think it helped a lot.

Really any lotion with vitamin E should do the trick, as it's the vitamin E that supports skin health. I happen to like Palmers because it smells so chocolaty and decandent. But sometimes I'll switch between that and Nivea.

Once a stretchmark has turned silver there's not much you can do about it. But if it's still a little red or purple, you can apply topical vitamin E or other creams to help diminish the mark.

Though im not PG .... i use palmers coca butter lotion every night before i go to bed ... boobies and thighs .... have a few over my boobies because of the sheer size of them lol.

Ive also heard a lot of good about bio oil, give that a try

It's good to know that not everyone who's got them from puberty got them in pregnancy. There's hope for me yet! :happydance:

Indeed! When I was pregnant with #1, I dreaded getting the awful marks I knew my mom had :hissy:

So I kept putting goo on my belly, morning noon and night, especially when I felt a little tight or itchy and I thankfully avoided those nasties.

Hoping to do the same with this one.

:cloud9:

It is always good to keep the skin well moisturised. If you do this it will surely help prevent stretch marks. A good cream to use is cocoa or shea butter or a combination of both would be even better.

There is a cream called Trilastin ER. You can find the link on my website: https://www.baby-n-momma.com/discomfortsofpregnancy.php.

I use palmers stretchmark cream and have also tried bio-oil and I still have them coming through

i have stretch marks (just from putting on weight) i have Palmer's Massage lotion for stretch marks and if u use it twice a day it deffenitly fades them slowly and its cheap wich is good xxx

it contains both cocoa and shea butter

I've been using Bio-oil in the bath to help but I also got a sample of Clarins Stretch Mark control cream at Christmas and have been addicted since! It's fab! A bit pricey though but you only need a little bit to go a long way!!
Heard that Cocoa butter is also great - there's so much choice out there. Boots were really helpful with advice xx xx:happydance:

I'm not pregnant yet but, like polo_princess I use cream too, I use it on my boobies, stomach and thighs just to keep my skyn really well

Bio-oil is the best i think although it is a tad expensive, i dont use it daily im not that big yet but i will do, but i've heard nothing but positive comments about it.

I used Palmers cocoa butter religiously with my first pregnancy and guess what? The only place I didn't put it ...I got major stretch marks. (mostly my butt and thighs) but my tummy and boobs couldn't be smoother. I swear by the stuff! I am using it now with baby 2 and this time I am putting it everywhere!

Soz hunbuti think if your gonna get them you will no matter wot u use. With my first pregnancyi didnt get any on my belly but with mynd ive got a few and i havent done anything different.I put baby oilin my bath both times and also used palmers cocoabutter,

I used cocoa butter from day one on my last pregnancy and didnt get any stretchmarks, this time im doing the same and dont have any so far !
My mum was covered in them when she was pregnant so i rubbed in cream from the start and i guess it worked !
