Day 21 prog test

Ok - so I went to the hosp and the doc has asked me to get all these bloods done - I explained to him that I ovulate around days 19-23 in my cycle and have a 9 day lp (have been charting for 5 months now so can see a pattern). He's sending me for a day 21 test - I said that it wouldn't work on day 21 as that is generally when I ov. He said to take the date AF is due as day 28 and count back - but surely that wouldn't give a true reading would it? Would I not be better to have the blood done 7dpo?
Thoughts needed please x

Yes they are supposed to test 7dpo. Unfortunatly alot of doctors don't realize or care that many women do not ovulate on cd14. Honestly it might just be my personality but I reccommend being agressive with doctors. they think they know everything but they don't. Tell him flat out that you track your ovulation and you WILL NOT have your progesterone levels checked until you are 7dpo according to your chart/opk. I don't know where your from or if insurance covers it for you but tell him you refuse to pay for tests that you know will be inaccurate.

Now i see you are from the uk so i assume it is covered. So tell him you refuse to have blood drawn for an inaccurate test.

Hi yep I would agree it should be 7dpo.

If he's dead set on a day 21 test why not just do it but also suggest/ask you have a 7dpo test....at least that would give you a bit more of a profile of your prog levels. Of course if you hate needles or it's difficult to get off work for the appointments that might change things.

I do think u need to be insistent, whilst still keeping your doc on side. And sometimes that means playing to their egos!

yeah it should be ov plus 7 days, but if people dont know when they ov, the best bet is the af due date minus 7, as he said, so it would be 7dpo if you have a 14 day lp! But as you say, you know you dont so yeah you are right, or both right depending how you look at it! I had mine done on day 25 of a 32 day cycle.
