What is demand feeding?

I'm curious to know if I do that for my LO.

Feeding when they demand for it vs on a schedule, like every 3hrs or whatever. Just following their cues

Interesting. I guess I do demand feeding. How do people do scheduled feeding if LO is crying for food. Do LOs just get used to it.

Is there a time to switch demand feeding to scheduled?

I don't really see a reason to switch. My LO is 7 months and we still demand feed. I would say to do whatever you think works best for you.

I do demand feeding too but pretty early on I learned roughly when Patrick would want to feed (growth spurts aside) so would feed before he started shouting too much - not exactly a routine but kind of. But seeing as it was set by him not me I suppose its still demand feeding.

With demand feeding, the LO will eventually set up his or her own routine anyways. Alot of it depends on time of day or growth spurts etc. Evie feeds roughly every 3 hours during the day but will go 6 hours thru the night :happydance: We feed her when she's hungry rather than bang on certain times.
