Depo injection, no period

Here is my experience with the depo =D

Im 24 and have only ever had 2 injections. First was in september 2011, and last in december 2011. It ran out in march... I cant remember exactly when i got my periods, but i know that they were longer cycles. I think i got one in march, then one in may and then one in july. This is when i started tracking my cycles.. It was 53 days and anovulatory. I finally got af and my cycle was 16 days, also anovulatory. I then had a 22 day cycle, which according to ff i ovulated but only had a 7 day leutal phase. Got af middle of september, I ovulated cd16 and had a 14 day leutal phase. This is what my cycles were before i had my daughter, give or take a day or so. Af arrived on oct 21st, i then ovulated cd15 and had a 13 day leutal phase, also a normal cycle for me.

I guess it took 6 months from my depo running out to my cycles being totally normal again. I assumed my body would regulate instantly afterwards, but that wasnt to be the case! Im now hoping its third time lucky for us, being the third normal cycle and all!

You could see the doctor.

I went and was told that it could take up to a 1 yr the injection too leave my system and to let my body get return to normal and get rid of the chemicals. In the end it took 7 months before first AF. I was on depo for 7 + yrs.

My advice is take conception vitimins, eat well, be as healthy as possible, drink loads of water and prepare your body for future BFP. My doctor told me that what someone does today will effect the egg and sperm released in three months time (get OH on vitimins as well).

Esmerelda have you taken a pregnancy test yet? When were you due for AF in November?

Yes, I took a test and it was negative. I was convinced mentally and physically it would be positive.

I've been to my doctor about the withdrawal effects I'm having, he also tested me as he said he's heard of the symptoms going on depo but not coming off. He also offered to give me something to "chill" me out, which I declined (some days I wish I hadn't).

I've had a few twinges of AF pains today, fingers crossed, AF is on its way. I'm currently on CD41 or should I count days from when
I had the spotting???

Pregnacare have a his and hers conception vitimin so OH can get involved too, not sure if r how its different form other pregnacare vitimins.

Wilkie has your AF arrived yet? What I am calling as mine arrived on sunday, its very light and i have lower backache but that's it.

Esmeralda- no it's not shown yet n the cramping I was getting as stopped now although I am still weeing more during the day and on a night which I unusual for me.

Chick, I'm exactly the same as you!! Same symptoms, convinced myself completely, and the negative.
It's heartbreaking isn't it xxx

Wilkie - Sorry to hear its not arrived yet, go to doc's just for peace of mind especially with the weeing. I didn't have a period while on depo. Before depo, periods, that time of month was a complete nightmare, they were very heavy with lots of pain. The reason why I didn't want to come off depo, was for the lifestyle, big mistake now.


Amy89 - Yes it is, still today when reading the forums I was convincing myself the light bleed I'm having was IB. I know I'm long way off from body getting back to normal, just doesn't help when your head starts playing games with you to.

I was doing exactly the same, looking at everything as some sort of symptom when it could (obviously is) just my body getting over the depo. I've got such sore boobs that I'm still kinda holding some hope, although I know it's probably stupid! Someone then told me today that the digi tests (which id used) weren't that accurate, so that's planted the hope back in my head again!

Thanks for the posts ladies. My last shot was Aug 6. Having lots of symptoms - boobies feel better, cramping and lower back pain.

i'm checking every day like a crazy lady hopefully I'll get a sign of AF. Trying to be patient because I know I could potentially have a long road ahead of me, but I have WILLED AF to come by January 1. I'm putting it in the universe! hehe

Amy89 - I'm in Somercotes, hello local person Ive had a read of your journal, big thanks for writing it, at least I'm not mental on my own Even down to the OH, mine is the reason I came off depo, he want's a baby. I'm left with the frustration of not been able to give him that. Saying that he is putting up with hell of a lot at the moment

Just a quick update- been to the docs today as still no period. Asked if there is anything she could prescribe me to help get periods going n she says no. Apparently there isn't anything I can take I just have to wait till my periods decide to return. Feel a but down in the dumps now as I've read on here people being prescribed drugs to help. She says if periods don't return within six months I can go back to have some bloods taken but that's all that can be done

Hi. I was on the depo for a couple of years. Came off it about 2 yrs ago as wanted to get body to sort self out before TTC. I had no period for a year. Went to the dr who prescribed me a specific bcp, and within the 1st month of taking it I got af. Stayed on that for a bit and then came off a year ago when we started TTC. AF been a bit irregular but now getting it.

There is stuff they can give you. See a diff dr x

Zelly- thanks for your quick reply! I did ask about bcp as I had read that too on here but she says putting me on bcp will just defeat the object as it will prevent me from getting pregnant. So I just don't know, I am thinking about going back to see a different doctor but I'm not sure if it will make any difference

But not having a period is also preventing you from becoming pg. I don't get doctors and there ways at times.

That's what i said to her esmeralda but she said to me that it's still possible for me to get pregnant if I'm not having a period. So I said but surely my body won't be releasing an egg if I'm having no periods n she just said that I'm thinking too much about it and I should just relax and see what happens. If after six months I'm not pregnant then to go back. I'm just so confused

Ah the magical 6 months. My doctor also told me to go back in 6 months if I wasn't pg, when we went to see him about me stopping the injection. Which will be Febuary for us. The so called periods that I have had, to me are not proper ones, and I don't think I'm ovulating. So I have promised myself that when the next one arrives, it to start temping and using opks. Then I have proof that I'm not ovulating when I see the doctor in Feb.

I have been back to my docs since, about the constant bad mood I'm in and the breaking down in tears all the time. He offered me something to calm me down, which I declined. His reponse was if it gets an worse to go back to him. Well so far it hasn't got any better, hence my plan with temping etc.

Last time I stopped depo I has no period for 3 months, straight period for 3 months, a period every other week for the next 6 months, than pregnant. So it was a bit. This time I got off depo I have started my period after two weeks off and I am into the second day of that. I too hope it goes faster this time.
