Disappearing positive on FRER?-UPDATE PG 2!

Hello ladies,

I am new here and had a question about the pink wrapper FRER tests. Yesterday I took one with FMU and immediately a second pink line appeared, at first I was overjoyed but as I watched, the line began to fade and by the time the 3 mins was up it was gone. Has anyone had this happen? Is this test faulty? I looked at it again a few hours later and see a shadow of a line but I can't tell if it has color. Thanks in advance

It sounds like it was just the dye passing up the test iself, sorry The colourless line you could see a few hours later is known as an evap line.

I hope you get a BFP soon xxxx

The new FRER tests do that, its just the wee passing the antibody strip, if there no line there after 3 mins then its negative!

Its very cruel, i got my hopes up 2 wen it happened 2 me

this is one thing i hate about frer, if the line goes its neg huns im sorry, the dye seems to stick for a min on the antibody even if ur not preg but it will fade away once the dye has passed if ur not preg, i actually dont use frer because i like to watch my tests to see if a line shows and if so how long it took to show and the feeling of being elated then brought back down to reality is never a nice feeling try using another brand hunny and good luck

Thanks gals, I appreciate your feedback. I think I will wait a few days and retest, AF is now three days past due, I have swollen and sore BBs with blue veins all over, and had low cramping all day yesterday like I was going to start AF but she never came...

Ok so I got what I *thought* was my period over the weekend but it was very light and dark brown or light pink color at times. It only lasted off and on for two days, for sure NOT my normal AF as normal AF lasts 5 days, the first two days are HEAVY! So this morning I decided to test because I still feel symptoms: swollen, veiny BBs, exhausted, food/smell aversions. I took a FRER, the pic is below, can anyone tweak? I think I see something, but I am not sure...this is maddening! Sorry all I have is my camera phone so it's kind of blurry...

I think I can see something Hun. However you should go to the docs as some womens urine is too weak to get bright positives.

I totally see a line on that test. No iffs ands or buts on that one. I'd go out and get a digital because if you have a line like that on a FRER you'll absolutely get a positive on a clearblue digital test.

Wow!!! Really??? I am contemplating getting a digi on lunch break but I soooo don't want to see the words "not pregnant"...how long should I hold my pee before i test next? I am dying to POAS but stuck at work!

With my last pregnancy I got my first faint positive at 10DPO on a Dollar Tree brand, and then the next day I got an even fainter positive with FMU at 11DPO. I decided to go ahead and use a FRER test after holding my urine for four hours, and it was faintly positive like yours. I used FMU at 12DPO and it was even fainter. I then held my pee for two hours and used a digital test and it came up pregnant.

It's different for anybody, but the rule of thumb is if your urine looks dilute (very light in color, almost like like green/yellow water) then don't use it, regardless of what time of day it is. If your urine is darker, use it. The darker the better. I tend to have better luck with SMU than FMU. I always pee in a clear cup so I know whether or not my urine is dark or dilute.

I totally understand not wanting to see "not pregnant" pop up. I felt the same way. My OH wouldn't believe the FRER tests though so he bought digital ones right away. I couldn't leave them sitting around unused when I wanted to know if I was pregnant or not. I was surprised when it came up pregnant almost right away. Clearblue digital tests are more sensitive than you'd think!
